Ghost in the Shell Fly...

I totally love the lights! The whole scene is so wide and endless... seriously, that's one huge city :D +fav with no further comment.

hmm apparently I am the first to comment (maybe second by now) but prepare for a load of critique and comment that is intented to be supportive ^^

*vieuws patternd version* next time when you apply a pattern be sure it doesnt overlay non-wanted parts like the face..duplicate the layer, and remove a unwanted part (head) and apply the pattern as wanted. now the pattern is even in motoko her face..

*main wall* lightning on motoko is briiliant gives her suit a glow led effect and makes it better and more futuristic. The skye background has good clouds and lightning distribution, could have maybe been even a bit more with a little more gradient into it. Oke the main point, nat allready pointed out some stuff so i will skip those, except cant help point out to the non existing building rightside below motoko her head. it has a side wall but no real front to it HAX!!><;; :p . Concenrning that everything was drawn from scratch it is a great job, no doubt about that. The idea of adding depth by adding more buildings but fader behind the front row is a good idea, next time push this even further with more buildingrows. And to increase the hight idea i would advice making the colours around the roads darker giving it more contrast and a depth feel. Also the streetlightbulbs are a bit to hight/out of shape. Next time maybe skipp those, if seen from a great hight these would emerge as one with the other road lights.

so now to fav ore not. I will fav it, but next time i expect more and improved. why push you to do it? to learn from it and increase youre skills. Also next time please no black borders any more. And i know my grammar sucks but i think you can read and understand it all :P

Very nice wall and grats on it being featured! I love the brightness of the lights compared to the darker colors of the night atmosphere. Also the blurring on the character and the lights in the background are very cool.

Love it! The background captures the 'wild' urban landscape for which Ghost in the Shell is known for. Motoko 'flying' above can have many interpretations as one desires. Well done.

I really felt the lighting just makes this piece. It's not exact, you didn't go out of your way to make everything 100% accurate with street lights, buildings in the distance, etc. and that's what makes it so great. The overall scene is completely understood, and our minds can focus on everything and not just one little detail that's a bit off.

Ah, good thing your wall got featured, normally these kind of wallpapers get underrated because people fail to see the work the maker put in it. In your case, I really think it's amazing that you drew the whole background yourself. It looks fantastic, even though there are lots of details bothering me, like the buildings Beckor mentioned and the way the left 'light-lanes' are positioned compared to the buildings, but it all doesn't matter because the whole picture is just mind-blowing. By the way, in the patterned version, the pattern doesn't follow the body curves, which looks very amateuristic. So it's good you posted the clean version.

Overall, fantastic work, very original, I love that. Keep up the good work.

All I can say is this is a terrific work of art. I'm no critic, so I'll just say that it's a work of pure genius. Very Well done.

Some applaud and critique.

First I would like to say that this is an amazing ghost in the shell wall. The perspective and the city/background itself as a whole is quite impressive and the vector is nicely done. Also the fact that the city is from scratch is quite impressive.

As far as critique goes, (all of these which were probably mentioned previously), there's a building right underneath the Major's head that is missing either a side or a front, and the lighting on the sides of the roads and the roads themselves are semi-distorted/not in proportion. While in a way it adds a surreal affect to most of the wall, the third road from the left of the wall initially looks very odd. Aside from that the building shadows are a little off in places, particularly on the left side of the wall.

Ah I almost forgot to mention the sky, it's marvelously fitting. The angle of the clouds in relation to the rest of the wall add a significant amount of depth and detail to the perspective in a positive manner and is nearing upon eye-candy, well dark and stormy eye-candy but eye-candy nonetheless. A little more detail could possibly be added in places to improve the affect but as a whole it works very well for the wall.

Lastly, the black bars...I personally have mixed feeling on them. While I'll agree that add a different and nice contrast to the wall, they at the same time can detract from the great piece of work you've done. If it was to great a pseudo-wide screen affect , possibly make a widescreen wall size to begin with (or borrow a friends monitor to do it :) ). If it was included just to add an affect of contrast to the wall possibly add another horizon element to it. As it is I think it is fine for the particular wall, for the most part.

Overall a really great wallpaper and one of the better Ghost in the shell wallpapers I've seen. It definitely deserves a favorite and I look forward to seeing your future work/improvements.

Really beautiful wallpaper. :D You did a great job of brining out the scan and making the color match the background. Very eye-catching! And the background is spectacular! Who would have thought a wonderful night scene can be drawn so simply, and yet still look so great. The only thing is the perspective for the buildings...especially the shadowing ones behind...but still looks very good overall.

I think this wall deserves the highlight. What I love most is the skyline...how the lights are so wispy like the clouds, and the colors are perfect too. I think I may use your sky as a future reference hehe. Though I do think the lights at the horizon could merge more or be brighter because they should have more density at that distance. And some of the buildings up front look kinda copy/pasted, and it would be cool to see more variety in the building's architecture, but it's plenty good enough already to get the point across. Also the wall overall is small and not many people could use it, however I have my little 1280x800 laptop so it's very crop-able! Next time it may be wise to make a bigger wall so more people can use it too. +fav from me

Aside from the fact that I don't like the black bars on this wall this is really great done. Gorgeous work on the lightening and the repainting of the girl. The scenery is amazing and the background rocks ^^ FAV+ for this wonderful wallpaper and the hightlight is also deserved.

WOW guess I'm a little late on this one but I just had to add my comment to this extremely awesome wall. Well as most have already said this fits Ghost in the Shells atmosphere to a "T" and the detailing is just amazing the city glows like fire and it's simple it's not over done or over flashed it's just the right amount, the only thing I have a small problem with is the resolution I think that with a bigger one it would pack a more serious impact, it's just to small in my opinion.But other then that it's great :D A- and a fav .(n_n).

Great wall! Totally captures what Ghost In the Shell is about. I love the feeling of the Major jumping off a building. I always wondered how she avoided landing on someone on the ground. I had to play Inner Universe, the opening song on the first season for the TV series, while downloading this. Beautiful background.

I believe this wallpaper nicely conveys the many different dimensions of technological advancement as well as human psyche; however, the asymmetry of the central character some what bugs me. Why not place her in the center with her entire front body symmetrically visible, which can smoothly balance out the speed of her falling motion and the dynamics in the lines of city lights?

It's amazing how well every element is put in there-- it really merges together. The effect of wind, or falling, on the character is so well done too. I just..love it. Even if the black borders annoy me, and make me want to punch them (OMG, I'm talking about borders...hitting borders ...). And watch out for the rough edges of the building (soften them a little might work, or make the color lighter), and overlaping two edges form foreground and background.

All in all, the sky is great, and even if you fall, the ground will come to meet you. Congrats on the great work! And the colors, so beautiful... *keeps mumbling*

First, I'll say, stellar work. Looking at it refreshes the whole GITS experience for me.

On details, I like the blurring on Motoko and the subtle blurring of the buildings in the background. It's the culmination of these small touches that makes this piece stand out.

mmm anyway about the wall, the colors are absolutely awesome and using brushes instead of obsessively detailing the background is a great idea (and less labor-intensive too, lulz) though I think it might have looked better if there was an extra row or two of solid, smaller buildings.

btw special < 3 goes to the bridge in the middle, it helps break up the monotony of buildings and it makes the whole wall look more special :D

When i see this wallpaper i tyhink "there's something wrong" I'm sorry, but i love GITS and in this wallpaper i can see not a good job. Why? Because the city is only a way of lights from the first skyline, motoko has not face, sky colors has a strange dark-light variation... I know motoko has not face for the scan, but i think everything else can be better. Almost, not for a GITS fan as me, but the wallpaper may be acceptable for too many people...

I love the foreground. However the cinematic lines annoy me a bit. But the rather most annoying thing is the way you connected the "houses" in the very front of the background to the "back"-backdrop. It looks to me unfinished.

I do like the coloring and the way you matched the sky properly for the scene.

Overall I'd say it's a good wallpaper and certainly it was a lot of time you spent for it. But those little things sometimes tend to disturb the feeling the wallpaper has to it.

I've been a long time lover of GitS. So much so I even had the game that came out for Playstation back 1998, which was only mediocre, at best. GitS: SAC, 2ng Gig, and SSS were all great additions to GitS. This wallpaper unfortunately the right size of my desktop resolution. Hehe.

I think the composition of the graph is the best ever, however, you you might like to think of decreasing the "exposure" of the picture (the white lines due to traffic. Those lights are actually out of their position such that some of the glare covered the buildings. The buildings in the front does not fit with the background harmoniously too

Motoko's freefall pose is very nice, it's fluid and dramatic, but the very plain and angular foreground structures do diminish the overall harmony of the piece.

I had to look carefully to see what nat was saying about minor flaws, but perspective can be challenging--especially when working on something like a skyline. I think I like the version with the pattern a little better, but both versions are just gorgeous!

First of all, excellent job! The way the wall paper portrays the city is so very true. With the movement of not only the girl but the cars in the streets and highways. beautiful.

One of the best GITS wallpaper. In fact it is one of the best wallpapers I have seen in a while. It totally captures the essence of GITS. Good job with light and shadows as well.

Excellent wallpaper. The background looks spectacular. The streams of light seem almost alive with the essence of the city itself. The blurring of the middle to background could have been slightly more gradual, but honestly, it still looks damn good as it is. Very cool.

Excellent vectoring! the picture looked fine. The free-falling styling made its best for the character. Even though the hand-made buildings are a bit abrupt with comparison with the cityscape background, it is still acceptable as the toning doesn't show much deviation. well, if there is a larger version of it (other than 1280*1024), i wil download it and make it as my wallpaper!

Nevertheless, where can I find the vector of the character in the wall? (inside animepaper or somewhere else?)

Concenrning that everything was drawn from scratch it is a great job, no doubt about that. The idea of adding depth by adding more buildings but fader behind the front row is a good idea, next time push this even further with giving it more contrast and a depth feel. Also the streetlightbulbs are a bit to hight/out of shape. Next time maybe Oke the main point, nat allready pointed out some stuff so i will skip those, except cant help point out to the non The skye background has good clouds and lightning distribution, could have maybe been even a bit more with a
