Full view please!
So, really, I pushed it here. This was orignially for Minitokyo.net GSA's "Heartbreak Hotel" challenge, which the deadline isn't until sometime in November. The main requirements were: A. One character (exception of photographs) - Check!, B. Tears (oh, and do believe me I was tempted to make a couch cry and have an amazing story as to why, but maybe another time) - Check!, C. Night theme - sorta...? Oh, please forgive me! I started this as Miriallia standing by the sea from the middle of the night until the sunrise thinking, but it came out more sunrise than night. However, I'm doing a new entry, so it doesn't matter now, really.
Basically, I chose Miriallia. For the past week, I've been debating who to wall: Lunamaria, Murrue, or Mir, and you can guess who won. I started a Lunamaria wallpaper, which failed, and never attempted a Murrue. I wanted to do one of the three, because they are my top favorite GS/D girls. However, I just thought for what I wanted that Miriallia worked nicely. The theme of this wallpaper is the introspection of the relationship between Mir and Tolle, and Mir and Dearka. I wanted her to be sad about Tolle, but to also be sad about Dearka, because having a relationship with Dearka is going to take a lot of work. However, I thought she should be sad about being away from him so much, and also sad about remember Tolle ( I miss joo, Tolle).
So, other than her relationships, the song "For Good" from the musical Wicked (as performed by Idina and Kristin) was my main inspiration. Although the song is between Elphie and Galinda, I thought it fit what I wanted this wallpaper to be about. Anyhow, you'll notice the vector is a bit sloppy. I'm sorry about that, as I said I was in a rush to finish it today (so I think the overall wallpaper suffered because of that, but it couldn't be helped). I vectored Miriallia from a screencap of when Kira, Cagalli, and Miriallia meet up with reinstated ZAFT pilot Athrun, because there are so few Mir scans (such a shame!)
Well, everything is either painted or vectored, save the soft texture I used from Anime Rain. I still don't know how I feel about this, but (*submit) ... too late! Oh, and yes, my third grade birdies are in fact retarded seagulls, but I still love them (Actually, I hate them...).

I'm glad you chose Miriallia. She's my favorite minor character. Her personality is so pleasing and she always be a good friend. This is a good pose of her. Miriallia looks beautiful with the orange background. So calm and soothing. That's what I feel in this wallpaper. Although the background is very simple, it's quite melancholic. Nice work.

Miriallia needs more wallpaper love! I love her, she's one of my favourites too and I love her and Dearka together. The lighting is great. Nice job.

i really like this one but it needs something to add to it dunno what though so cant help with that :P however i really like the colors in this and it is well done so gonna fav it!

well for me its just TOO empçty, dunno, maybe something written or watermarked at the back, but the right side is so nice and well done and the left is just ORANGE. but nponetheless its quite well done and finished so try it again, it may work out just fine, XOXO

oh! i really like the idea but i feel like the background needs more details in order for the viewer to be more interested and get pulled in. but overall nice job. i really like the warm colors and texture :)

The vector is nice and simple, good chosed colors, but the left side is so plain, that plainer even couldn't be. I don't have that much icons on my desktop...

I like your usage of the negative space, it adds more depth to what Mirillia is feeling here.

Miriallia is one of the best female anime characters out there. im not saying this purely out of personal feelings/beliefs but because i can give you 5 reasons why was going to give 10 but then i would have kept on going:
she's ordinary - doesn't miraculously do something that makes her into a superhuman that saves the world. she's just an ordinary girl who ends up being friends with a guy who saves both the earth and the plants.
she's a strong female character - forget lacus (pink princess), cagalli (princess of orb) and flay (practically the princess of the atlantic federation) (nothing against them!!!). Miriallia doesn't have any great parentage or social rank. she's just from an ordinary family. even though that fact remains. she's a strong friend throughout the anime to kira and others. she also loses her boyfriend and her strong emotions of love come out when she mourns his death. then of course 'dearka' comes into the picture.
she regains her life once more - she puts on hold all the horrible things that have happened and gets her duty back in line. later in a short sequel after gundam seed, she is seen sitting on the ground in her room looking at a picture of Toelle and herself.
she's sticks to her beliefs - even though she was about to kill dearka (flay got in the way and tried to kill him) she stops flay from killing him. she realises in the state of mind she was in that killing him because he was the enemy was wrong. he 'might' have killed her boyfriend and she even asks him if he'd seen the plane (the thing Toelle flies) that he was flying in, dearka tells her honestly that he didn't, she gets a little piece of mind from this.
she's neutral - she doesn't believe that people should be killed because they are different (coordinators & naturals). she wants a world where everyone can live in peace (just like everyone else) but she's different from others and not just because of her situation either, she chose to fight for what she believed in and we see her make her own decisions as the anime goes on.
i'm just a little upset that she's not one of the main characters as i personally find her more interesting then lacus or cagalli. Flay on the other hand is also an interesting character. she brings spice to the anime which has never really hapened in the mobile animes before (i'm sure you know what i mean by spice, if you don't then watch it). she's also a character that we see grows and changes in the anime.
personally, it's the characters who grow and change within an anime that i find most interesting, not the ones who have stayed the same the whole way through, although they could be great characters as well.
