Old work I finally finished; nothing spectacular but I hated letting the vector and idea go to waste in my vault. Kind've a let down after my latest wall, I suppose. xD I wanted to do this idea very badly, though... to begin with I love all of CLAMP's work (and the animes based off them, of course); the art is beautiful and the stories just amazing. The general idea came from her position and how she just seemed so gravity-defying. (Anyone who has read/watched Chobits or even flipped through the scans knows Chi loves high places.)
Basic: Everything is vectored except the background which is stock. Then I slapped on text because I can't help myself. 8D
The Chi(i) vector is mine from awhile ago. (Can be found here.) I thinned the lines before using it in the wallpaper to make it blend better, as everything else is line-less. The original image was from the Anime-Stock website, but here's the link to the Minitokyo submission just so you can see it.http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/268783
Everything else is also from Chobits scans; the rail is from this scan, and the curtains were based on this one. (I just wanted the "impression" of curtains, really, to make the wallpaper feel more "breezy. :3)
Background is stock from here: http://budgie.deviantart.com/art/Starry-Sky-Stock-102324102
Finally, the text is a line from Reflection , the song from Mulan. ^^ I thought it fit because, again, Chi loves high places and is at the same time very bound to the ground.

I don't really like the rail she's sitting on, its oversized and out of place. Chii also doesn't really look like shes sitting on it because of where her feet are. Maybe a moon up in the sky would've been a nice touch too, she sort of looks like shes just staring off into space.

I’m also very fond of the night sky, nothing sooth's me more than a cool summer night and gazing at the stars. This is the second wallpaper I’ve seen of Chii today and it’s very elegant. The vector is nice and clean, I like the style and the thin lines, I think it makes the wallpaper a bit melodramatic and it suits her presence. The curtain is so delightful; I think it adds delicacy to the wallpaper. This is so soft and sweet and it looks great on my desktop hehe. Nice wallpaper!

There are some ends of Chii's hair that look a little weird, because not all of them have an outline and they just sort of blob into each other. I like the curtain and the sky, but it's weird to me that Chii has shadows, and the railing has shading, but there is no shadow from Chii on the railing, and because of that she looks like she's just holding her feet out in midair. It's still a good wall, there are just a few things about it that seem a little weird to me.

Awesome wallpaper! What I personally miss is the shadow of Chii on the stair or veranda or whatever she is sitting on. It'd blend her with the background better since now she seems somehow too flat.
The sky is very well done and the architectural part is very nice to look at! If you add the shadow, it'd be perfect and hence I'd fav it :). It still is very good as it is.. just .. not perfect.

I am happy to see wallpapers from Chobits in yesterday and today. Her empty face and silent night are harmonized with each other. Her hair and veil are flying in the gentle wind. Her heart is there she is watching far far away...

Whee~ I have seen your vector in the gallery, and I thought you were never going to make a wallpaper with it >3
I love the starry background, even though it's stock, because the mood it evokes suits the wallpaper very much. Still, maybe if you painted over some parts of it with a soft brush or apply some filters, it won't look so realistic ^^ The curtains look good, and yup it creates a breezy feeling, and the text and the rail looks great too~
The vector is good, and I admire your patience in vectoring all those small details with outlines O_O (that's the main reason I normally stay away from CLAMP scans xD) I hope next time you will try colored outlines though - they add another style to the vector which black outlines can't, and normally colored outlines help the vector blend in with the background ^^
Fave for the serene feeling < 3

Love the lyrics, really fits :)

i think the composition of this is very nice, although i have to ask for shape-outlines for the next one XD. the stars are ok but it would have been better to have a gradient and a stock cloud image with a moon or something. esp since the text wuold blend better if it glowed

Your vector is on the level of mine at least, means pretty good ;3 The whole wall is so peaceful and relaxing. The stars are bit unusual, but in this way also cute. Chii... +Fav

I like the overall composition of this, with the sheer curtain fluttering in front like that, but it looks a little wonky with her pose. Gravity defying indeed.

Nice, simple. I would suggest, though, that you maybe put something on the left side, in sky, just to balance it out. It might also look good to add a small glow around the text and around Chii. :)

At first I didn't like how this looked, full-size, at all; the uniform thickness of the vector outline and the patches of digital colouring made it looked like a computer-coloured page from a colouring book.
I did wonder if, since evrything else is line-less, Chii would be better off without any outlining at all. Hiwever, when I shrunk it to fit my screen it actually wasn't no longer painful to look at; probably partly because the original series was digitally coloured and has fake colouration anyway but alos because you can no longer see the colouring-book outline.
I really do like the design; Chii fits so naturally into it. The mood is just right, with all the digital blocks of colours that define the TV series.

This is a good concept but I do think it suffers from a few issues. As others have mentioned the sky is rather plain. I think it would better served if there were something there to help give it some focus, like a moon, perhaps. And that brings me to something else and that's that Chi is so close to the top of the image. Chi is looking up and off into the distance and it would be nice if the viewer were given a little bit of freedom to do what she's doing. I think something like that would go a long way toward visually reinforcing what the text is saying and give the viewer a better feel for what Chi is wistfully reflecting on. Again, this is something that could be helped a lot by giving her something to focus on. Another element that I think could use some work is the balcony rail. It's very large, and there's nothing wrong with that inherently as Chi IS very petite, but the rail overall is far too imposing and somewhat diminishes Chi as the subject. What if, for example, Chi were larger and located in the lower right corner instead of at the top? Something like that would place the emphasis on Chi while opening up the top center and top left of the image. Another point considering here is perspective. Notice how Chi's feet seem to be floating in the air? That looks like a rather strenuous pose for her to maintain but it's one she would have to maintain as we are looking at the balcony rail at such an angle. What if, instead of looking at the balcony from such an angle we were instead seeing Chi resting on a portion of the rail that's perpendicular to the viewer's line of sight? That way, you could keep the railing in the shot, provide viewers with enough perspective to know what they're looking at, make the scene conform to the perspective we're presented with due to her pose and still have a three-dimensional aspect to the image (as the balcony would still have to extend into the distance off to Chi's right-hand side). Another item I'd like to mention here are the curtains. In and of themselves they are well executed, however, they're placement could use some work. I think it would look much better if they were 1) behind the railing and 2) didn't get between Chi and the viewer. The idea is a very good one because it adds much needed detail to the image and helps to establish an atmosphere but I don't think they should interfere with the subject.

The starry sky impresses me, it is so beautiful!
