Yay for xxxHOLiC images! They're so much fun to vector :nya: At first, I wanted to do this scan, but I didn't know if I had the skill to make it. I’m still going to try and make it though. So I moved to this one, butterflies, lace and lots of pearls are <3 My obsession with pearls is quite recent actually...Well, I just love details :P Some of the greatest things about xxxholic images are that they have lots of black, not much shading and they're all very beautiful like that. So it's quite easy to vector xxxholic. It just takes some time.
I can't say much about this one, since most is vectoring, unlike some of my recent works where I've been painting. I actually finished this one before my recent Kobato work. Tried to go back to some thick lines ^_^' Thick lines on Yuuko and Watanuki and thin lines for Yuuko's hat/feathers and background. (Oh Watanuki, you were the easiest thing I've ever vectored....) Didn't exactly use gradients on the butterflies. I simply grabbed a soft brush and made my way with it. Also, that purple thing which I really don't know the name now, I changed from purple/white to purple/lilac. Some pearls wouldn't be visible if I did it white. But really, I never used so much gradients on my life as I did on this one work >_< Oh the only thing I really painted here were the pearls, everything else is vectored. Also, I changed the curtains' color. The color was really too strong in my opinion and I decided to keep that frame/border thing...it's xxxholic after all. It wouldn't feel right taking it out.
The title is french for "A common day". I couldn't think of something better, sorry xP

Wow dejavu; leviatan did the exact same thing with a xxxholic scan. I don't get what the fad is with vectoring a perfectly fine scan, but honestly it's a waste of time. You put no creativity into this. It's like me taking credit for tracing an image. I don't mean to be so harsh, obviously you put a lot of work into this, and hard work is impressive, but maybe you should use it towards less fruitless ventures. Like instead of completely recreating the scan you can change it to your own personal style, or do something interesting with it instead of reproducing the same image. Or hey if you don't like creating original wallpapers, why not vector the individual characters so that other people who like making wallpapers can use them?

Hi Kairi,
I really loved this wallpaper. I love all the detail and the objects. The coloring is exquisite and the pearls on her wrist just stand out like 3d for me. They seem so real. I love the butterfly and the hat on Yuko. The entire thing makes me think of a day out shopping in some exotic boutique, with Watanuke fetching and carrying as usual.

I've always love the art work and colors that are used in xxxHolic. I think you did a great job in changing some of the colors and other details it actually brings out the picture and the characters a lot more and makes it easier on the eyes..(n_n).
