Read Or Die Paper Kills Rock

You know, I was just joking around about the whole RoD wall. You really didn't have to do that, especially with how hectic things have been for you lately. Also, it was only a year, but you know you were welcomed to take as long as you wanted.

Well, where the hell do I began? I've always loved what you do by re-cging the scan. It looks absolutely gorgeous as twice as good as it originally did. I've always been very partial to this image of Yomiko. Perhaps it's because it's the only one where she looks very serious and not like a goober.

The background, now this is where you can truly see how talented you are. Changing the paper in her hands as well as making a vortex of animation paper, each one being a different image of her, was a brilliant concept. Not to mention that I've noticed a few in there that are directly from the OVA itself. The shadowing is quiet well done too, on both the papers as well as her. You used the appropriate blurring as well for the closer objects to the viewer, which I felt was a very nice touch also. What really baffles me is that stone floor. That is simply stunning. To know that you created that solely from scratch shows that it must of been a painstaking work of labor, but it has most definitely paid off. I have to say that is by far some of the best stone I have ever had the pleasure of viewing and yes, that sounds as weird as I thought it would.

Simply put, I'm baffled. You have never ceased to amaze me with your talent as not only a waller, but as an artist. Each wallpaper you put out surpasses your previous and you continue to push yourself further. Everything fits together in absolutely harmony and is the labor of hard work and dedication. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it's a favorite for me.

amazing as ever. the perspective in this is dead on, as i would expect from you, but most people unacquainted with doing things this way, don't realize that perspectives like this aren't easy to do properly. it's not a natural perspective, so we can't go from memory, and it's often difficult to find good references. then the imagination takes over. pulling something off like this shows the dedication you have towards your art, and art in general.

i have always considered your walls good examples to learn from in the more complex areas of art, such as lighting, color theory, and, of course, perspective. i sincerely hope that the others who aspire to make truly beautiful walls note yours, and learn from them.

Anyway! The perspective is freaking awesome, that's got to be the best part of this wallpaper. I also like that she's in the middle so I can put my icons on either side.

I love the stones... I've always wanted to try to make some of those in a wall, but I'm not very confident about it. XD

Everything is great~ I don't really have any problems with it. The gallery needed more good ROD wallpapers. +fav and to my desktop.

wow...this wall looks great, Kalico...I mean the detail of it. There's a sketch of the girl on every sheet of paper and everything was done in detail. From the floor, to the paper etc...wow...it is amazing. another great wall from you... :) nothing much to comment as i felt the same as what the others had said in the earlier posts...XD

About time you submitted again! XD I've missed your walls!! My fave part is also the perspective. Makes it so much more dramatic. Only thing I'll pick on is the centered-ness...I wish the circle of papers weren't quite so balanced in the middle and that it looked more natural. But hey it's still workable this way :D.

It really is too bad I never saw this series...made it through the first three and then couldn't continue >_>. Maybe I'll give it another go.

This is definitely one of the better ROD wallpapers that I've seen so far. I love the small sketches on each of the pieces of paper, it was a really nice touch. Kudos to you!

Fantastic wallpaper! Yomiko is one of my favorite characters, this wall is exceptionally well-done, and the concept is very unique. It's nice to see some real creativity. Congratulations on a successful wall! *faves*

EDIT Upon further analysis (I stared at the wall for a few minutes, that's it ^_^) I do have one tiny little suggestion. The brown of the bricks is boring. I was trying to think of a way to liven it up a bit. Grass would be boring as well, too much green, and no other form of pavement word work either. The bricks are the right way to go. But, what about adding some color variety? If you look at cobblestone or bricks of this sort, most of the time they aren't as perfectly alike as these bricks appear to be. Make some of 'em a darker brown, some lighter, add some red or orange hues, black maybe. Just give it a little variation and I think this wall would be not only fantastic, but spectacular.

As everybody here I woot also for the great perspective, liking the paper control effect and also big yeaz for chosing ROD, because it still don't has enough walls. Great gift fot Cy! Ehm, I'm really not enough a popular waller compared to you, to give serious critique, but I cannot get used to your character lines. Maybe cause I like more the straight style, dunno. But still is a fav, and in my opinion best ROD wallie until now. +Fav

I really like this wall, I like how you decided to draw the lines then vector it since it gives the wall a different look and it matchs the theme. I like the texture you made on the bricks but I think they don't look just as nice on her. Oh! and also, the paper around her is a pretty cool idea. Though I was thinking maybe having them show movement, as if they were swirling around her could be added. Hope that makes sense, overall you did a great job and it's so nice to see R.O.D again.

First, the originality is wonderful，this wallie is impressive, then second, the use of drawing is creative，these drawings which are blowed by wind not only embellish the wallie , but also do highlight the scan，the theme of this wallpaper, I think this wallie will be not good as this one if the composition of fly drawings is unorderly. Third, the disposal of changes in focal length and the work of BG is also suitalbe. So, the conclusion is that this wallie is worthy of praising and fav~

GOd.... I should make something very soon. Years of not wallpapering has been very well torturing >____< Anways, ... great composition (wow, a centered focus-wall, that's quite rare coming from you).. and clean, smooth re-cg. Somehow I feel that this wall lacks a bit of color saturation to make it much crisper and eye-catching (can go with a circular-gradient masked saturation layer, to make the edges more de-saturated and the center focus area more alive), but maybe that's what you intended in the first place...

A fav, certainly.. since I loved RoD, I loved your walls, and Yumiko Readman is h4wt...

Great tribute to a great anime, Yomiko is amazing character though rather annoying. Not much to say here, the only thing that I would have changed is maybe put other characters on the animation paper instead of just Yomiko herself, and yes I did notice it was animation paper. Though I didn't realize the difference between this animation paper and Japanese, but then I'm American as well.

You did a brilliant job in making this Wall, it perfectly depicts the Read or die series, and says much more about the character thanks to the use of your papers. Well animated, and stylishly beautiful. Over all very high quality work.
