Final Fantasy XIII Ride the Lightning

Haha I was going to do a wallpaper with this scan! Oh well, it's cool cause I picked another one instead.

About your paper. I like the general concept of it, but I don't like the fog. It's not textured enough; too grey; too much NOT like fog. Nor clouds. That's simply my biggest issue, maybe get rid of it or look up a tutorial on how to do fog? Like I would use mutiple colours/brushes over eachother + opacity to give it texture. Also, I don't like the strange white glow around her.

Change these stuffs and I'd be willing to dl the paper.

Nice wall. I think the blending of the scan is fairly good, the white around the edges really can't be helped unless your really picky, but it still could have been done. I think some of the lightning has weird layering, and comes from weird places too, like from the character's hand. For depth on the lightning, adding a glow filter and mak it stronger as the lightning get "closer". I also think the extra silhouette in the backdrop is unnecessary and kinda takes away from the wall. Otherwise great job!

The planet bg is the best part in my opinion. I think you should provide a link to where you found it too. One thing I'm not too fond of is the blue shadow thing to the left of the scan - the wall would be better without it. Also the fog could be improved by using some white and darker colors too. It would also be nice if there wasn't a white feathered outline around the scan too. I like the text, though I probably would have placed it below the moon maybe.

I don't know what is wrong with these guys today! This wall has a freaking horse and lightening in it! How much more awesome can it get? Full marks from me! :D

there's an easy (cheater) way to do fog too. make an outline with the polygonal lasso tool, a loose sloppy outline. feather the selection by 15px or so. use the filter render/ clouds, or different clouds for darker fog. voila! cheap easy fog. not always amazing, but usually effective.

i did notice, however, that the scan could be improved a bit in quality. it's not quite smooth enough for this image.

you could try the cheater way for this also. duplicate the layer and either filter/ blur/ smart blur, then lower the opacity, for a subtle change. filter/ blur/ gaussian blur, set the layer to overlay or soft light, for a glow effect. or filter/ noise/ median (about 5) set to overlay or soft light, for a bigger smoothing effect and more dramatic colors.

if you use the second, gaussian blur, you'll likely find that the outer glow is unnecessary, and can be eliminated.

and, yes you really should edit your description and provide a link to the bg image you used.

and if you get really ambitious, you could do lighting effects on her for the lightning. but that's pretty advanced stuff, that most wallers here wouldn't do.

but really, it's a nicely put together, beautiful image.

I understand being "done" with a project and not wanting to touch it, it's just such a shame because I would have really liked this wallpaper without the fog. It really ruins the potential of this paper, but I look forward to seeing more from you!

Nice planet. A little random, but nice

Stunning background I have to say. That would make a great wallpaper in itself. The Render needs to be blended a little better as well as need to have better lighting effects. The gray along the buttom also seems out of place. Try changing that to shades of blue and blue gray to match the background

You did a pretty good job with the scan! I just don't think the fog or extra silhouette were necessary but it still looks great ^^

holy jesus and mary...i've read 'ride the lightning' and just said 'wow'...i've never played any FF, but metallica is one of my favorite bands; whatever, this wall is just AMAZING

wow! thats really beautiful! i just have one uh concern, i think you some maybe add some effects to the lightening to give it more of a dramatic effect, but its still great!! Awesome Job!!

the lightning effect kinda killed it for me and it would've been nice if the picture quality of Lightning on the horse was better, but the earth looks awesome

Hi :3 nice wallpaper...I love lightning (also, good naming it "ride the lighting", brings me metalica memories ;_; nostalgia). I don't think it was necessary putting some white on the low right corner or duplicate in alfa lighting's image but overall it is a beautiful wallpaper. congratulations on a good work! :3

:3 I absolutely love this wallpaper. The fog doesn't bother me it actually helps in a way that it doesn't take away from Lightning. The only issue I have is the top right lightning effect...that looks out of place. But all in all, fantastic job.

In my Opinion the gray zone at the down, right corner of this wallpaper is a little bit too big ( my lcd use 1920x1080 wallpaper). But the colour and the universal background is truly nicely done.

Very nice background choice for this scan. It's sort of a cute play on words with the lightning bolt and everything. And I think there's an Odin reference with it too? It's been a while since I studied that stuff so I forget. Regardless, very cool! And I love that it's not too cluttered or looks like a rainbow vomited on it. You have good taste!

I like this wallpaper its really nice, plus lightning is so cool when she summons odin. The background is sweet but im not to sure if i really understand why she is in the middle of space. 0.0 Anyways nice wallpaper, regardless of my criticism i know theres no way i could possibly get close to making something as good as that.

I really like the idea and the elements used, as well as the placement...but something is off to me. I wish I could tell you what it was. I don't particularly like the flames on her sword, either. Still a favorite.

Wow, this piece really caught my eye right away! The lightning and flame effects are very well done, and the blending with the background is a nice touch. The background itself has a very neat feel to it. Overall, you've done great work here. Props!
