Title: Song of the Rain Couple things I learned from this wall: 1. When in need of a title, come up with some Japanese one and it will look cool. 2. Don't paint scans with aquatic plants. 3. In fact, don't paint Mushishi scans cause it will be a pain.
I started this around September. Even though I have two more walls that I've been working on for like a year, this is the one I finished first. I fail. The easiest part was Ginko; the hardest part was the damn plants. The lotus flower turned out kinda crap, but THAT'S OK. I'm glad I finished one wall.
Now gotta start studying for chem test!

Great work, as always. I really like the raindrops, especially as they hit the plants.

Mushishi! < 3 I've always wanted to work on one of the scans in that gallery. Glad to see that you've made a nice one here. Good job on the repaint. I love the softness of it and the colors are perfect too. :D

Omg I was going to wall this scan too! Haha, it's my favorite Mushishi scan. Great job on the repainting!! No wonder it took a while, hehe. But I think that Ginko's upper eyelid should be a bit thicker so that he looks more calm like in the original. And the dark area on the left edge looks like a scan crease since there are no dark spots anywhere else in the background. Well, time to fav!

Umm okay don't get me wrong here, I think you did a really good job, but I also feel like you missed something really important. First of all I would have liked to have seen the original scan which I found here http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Mushishi/item205545/ because A: If not then I can't tell if you painted it from scratch or something and B: It's hard to know what exactly YOU did.
So putting that out of the way, the thing I think you missed that is essential is the ripples in the image to make it look like we are viewing Ginko from above the water. This would actually not be a problem if you had not included the jagged edges on the lines on his jacket and his arm. When I first saw these I was wondering if it was sloppy paint job or if it had to do with the scan, which is why I went looking for it. I can see that in the original scan those choppy lines are there to give the illusion that he is underwater and being viewed from above the water. To complete that effect I feel that the ripples are necessary so the viewer can understand why the jagged edges are there. If you don't wish to include the ripples, I suggest you remove the jagged edges.
If that were fixed, I'd totally +fav it, but as it stands it just looks like it's missing something..

Ok I'm sorry for double commenting like this, but I just saw this scan like one second after: http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/wallpapers/toprated/item103300/
On the one hand, I can understand repainting a scan that is unwallpaperable so that we may enjoy it on our desktop, but on the other, taking a scan that is perfectly wallpaperable as it is and then repainting it seems a little unoriginal to me. And IMO I'd much rather use the scan than your painting b/c it has so much more detail.
So now...please ignore everything I said above. What I'd like to see is more originality, and more of "you" put into your work + creativity.
Thanks for baring with me.

beautiful, with a tone and precision that i love <3 Ginko. Thank you so much for this work of art!

Ginko is such a relaxed and chill character under almost all circumstances. This was one of the first series where I enjoyed the anime over the manga. The coloration is beautifully painted which lends to the surreality of the world Ginko sees that remains unseen. Well done indeed.

This is amazing - I love how you've made this look like a watercolour painting with the blend of soft tones. Overall, there's a contemplative mood created by the colours which is quite soothing.
