Finally another finished wallpaper after more than 7 months (or so say the stats of my last submission). The idea of this wall has been sitting around collecting dust since Soul Eater was airing. By right I have a bunch of other walls to work on as well but I decided to bump this one up.

I'm kinda glad that I waited around this long before I vectored this because I don't think I could have vectored that well in the past (in fact, the finished product would have looked more or less like the concept sketch I included in the progress chart).

Quick shout out to all the people who gave suggestions in Session Zero (good or bad) as well as special mention to @Horseradish, @KakashiM and @PaoPorsche in particular for your suggestions. I could only have reached this level of awesomeness, IMHO, with your input. =D

Lil' bit 'bout the wall. All vectors were based of 1280x720 screenshots from the Soul Eater anime, corrected at 5120x3200 resolution before getting shrunk down to 2560x1600 resolution. Originally I wanted to to give the characters strongs rim lights and glows to give them a more silhouetted and backlit feel but I never could quite get the lighting correct so I scrapped the idea. In the end I went for a more film-noirish feel with the desaturation and the bleached out colours. I grant the wallpaper might be a little too dark for some so I'm going to appeal more the niche group of dark wallpaper fans. Nevertheless, I still wanted to stick to my vectoring roots and not end up with a grunge wallpaper so I steered clear of overburshing and went with a more clean feel.

I hope you guys like it.

Note: [strike]The wallpaper was designed for widescreen users so I'm still hesitant to make versions for 4:3 and 5:4 definitions. When I work the layout a bit more, I'll try to release a 4:3 version but a 5:4 is probably going to be impossible[/strike] Sorry guys but 4:3 and 5:4 definition version are officially impossible. Too many layers to work with.

** Update ** New version now with anti-aliasing and fixed sig. Seriously though...Photoshop cannot anti-alias a vector for ****. I had to upsize it by 400%, rasterise it, then downsize it back. ** /Update **

More quick facts: Program used - Photoshop CS4 (only) Time taken - Way too long (2-3 weeks of solid work min.) No. of layers - 626 (579 vector layers [342 for the characters, 210 for the moon and 27 for the buildings], 31 overlay/filter layers, 16 misc. layers [painted layers, etc])

Hmmm nice result, finally here it is in the gallery, glad to see that you changed your sig, but you could make it a little bit smaller ^^ Also the wallpaper requires an anti-aliasing filter, maybe a Gaussian Blur can fix that problem... Anyway, nice wallpaper, I would like to FAV this one because of your nice and remarkable efforts with every new revision ^^

Nice one!

I noticed the change in the background. It looks much better than the SZ versions. The fish eye effect wasn't working out, huh? I have to admit that you put a lot of heart into this wall, and it shows on the final product.

Great vector wall, it's even better, than the Session Zero version, (I guess I'm the only one, who liked the original angle of the buildings) the moon and the chars' are looking great, but I think the wall became a bit too dark, other than that it's awesome.

Judging from that progress chart, i can see that this wallpaper has come a long way. It looks so much better now, and i'm glad you fixed the perspectives and used those filters to get that nice effect that it currently has now. Great job on the vectors too. I'm loving the moon. < 3 So keep up the good work. :)

I really like that you corrected the perspective of the BG to match the one form the characters. It looks way better now. But the best part of this is the overall concept and idea. It shows the great amount of effort and dedication you put into creating this.

Anyways, the final result turned out to be pretty neat (technically and creatively). Keep the good work.
