Whew! (x_x) Finally done here and I must say, for my first time working with a darker skin tone, I'm glad it really came out so well. I've learned quite a bit from this piece alone and really feel like I've just made a turning point for the rest of my art.
I think I'm finally settling into a comfortable coloring style and, although it's tedious, it hasn't failed me at all. I can use my old dodge and burn technique to compliment it, my light source is completely under my control and, honestly, everything seems to make sense. It's a strange sort of relief that, after pushing myself like this, that I'm feeling a little more confident in my art.
I livestreamed pretty much this whole thing from start to finish and I want to thank everyone who came on over to entertain me while I did! (Even if you all were distracting little things <3)
No scans were used for this, the art is all my own, drawn from a blank canvas in Photoshop CS3 from start to finish. I do, however want to credit two artists for allowing me to use their brushes;http://horhew.deviantart.com/ for the tree brushes & http://javierzhx.deviantart.com/ for the cloud brushes. :3

Look, the bg is week compared with the character that you did, if you did the bg based on some images with your techniques, it would be totally awesome!

part of the reason the bg is "weak" is because it's not composed well.
move the horizon line down, so it's at the 1/3 spot and it will help a lot. where it sits now just makes it feel odd. not on a third point, not halfway, and it's so blank in comparison to the art.
also, everything in the bg being silhouetted, and the character being in full detail is a little odd too. but fix the compositional arrangement and that prolly won't matter as much.

sorry to double post. i guess it is halfway, but the character and trees make it look like it's not. either way, it doesn't belong there.

For an original art this is really cool. To me it has a feel of say Africa with a hint of urban street in it. I love the simplicity of the wall. Its not to over power or to under in my taste. And for a first accepted wall. This is a great accomplishment.
Congrats! Keep up the good work! ::Angel::
