What I specific wanted to focus with this wallpaper was in Sawako’s silliness. I wanted to make something funny around that character’s persona, in other words.
I also decided to make the whole thing around the idea of a “cause and effect” event… or close to it. Why? ‘cause I thought people could relate to it, therefore have a bit more fun while looking at the wallpaper. I mean, I’m sure many of you have been on a similar (not the same, but similar) type of situation before… haven’t you? If not, good for you…
So, what’s the deal here? Simple… Sawako gets distracted by looking a pile of snow (a cutesy tiny little pile of snow with a red leaf on it). Why? Who knows, I’m not Sawako. As cause of that, she looses sight of what’s ahead of her (her surroundings), leading her to slip and eventually to fall…
Why did I choose this image? Because it made me laugh every time I saw it, that’s why... the more awkward looking, the better.
Again, this is a wallpaper not serious in content or attitude. It’s meant to be funny and silly, period. So don’t expect to find the opposite in here…
Progress (roughly):
- I vectored the whole thing in Illustrator from different screenshots I took from the OP sequence, and then finished it in Photoshop.
- There are two versions of Sawako. One representing her present self (slipping), another one representing her past self (walking distracted).
- I colored her present self the same way as the screenshot. Outlines were kept the same too. In addition to that, I also textured her scarf and skirt. I added a box with scribbles next to her as a way of representing her cussing (unconsciously) as she slips (ex: holy ****).
- I colored her past self all white. Outlines were changed to a dash type.
I also off-set the white color a bit away from the outlines... Why? I just thought it looked kinda neat (just having fun experimenting). - For the BG, I added a “slippery” warning sign and second pile of snow. I also textured the ground (snow) and added some text work within the scene. As a final touch, I blurred the back and part of the front a bit.

A “simple” wallpaper about Sawako’s absent-mindedness. Sure, it’s quite different from your usual Kimi ni Todoke’s wallpapers, but hey, I’m just trying to have fun while making these stuff...

I think I kinda picture the silliness of this wall. It kinda reminds of the comic strips I read in the morning. Hehehe. I think the white girl is also Sadako but the past self, am I right. Then the effect of her gawking at the snowman caused her to slip. Hehe. Nice concept.

Ahaha good concept.
The wallpaper suits Sawako quite a bit. She's just a silly person. I really like the shadowing/time lapse effect you did. The misplacement of the white shape and dot outline makes it more artistic.
The "cause and effect" is kind of just slapped on there. Would have been funner if you blended it into the wallpaper. Like a wooden sign or have it doodled into the ice.

everytime I tell someone I'm not too fond of vectors I come here and see a really nice one I like. awesome idea, I love how you showed the "action" with the white silhouette, very creative. it reminds me of some small funny comic strips/panels and it even adds to the good overall image. pretty :3
(though I might complain about the "cause effect" text as without it, it'd made people think more ;)

Thank you for your wallpaper. I am so glad that you made it cause I had reached for a long time to collect all images in the opening and ending songs of the anime, but the blue snowing one is not large enough among many similar pictures. Hope you have a good time!

Oh dear ....well it's 9 something in the morning and this wall has already made my day...LOL! i mean one shouldn't laugh at someone who has fallen (or about to) but this is hilarious. I love it! I think the only flaw i can see is the text and Tens gave a very nice suggestion....but then again it's still funny no tail to me ! +fav

LOL..... I just found my Christmas wallpaper for this year (and maybe next year too). Again, love the concept and overall execution. You hardly see wallpapers like these nowadays (fun-casual), so it's really nice too see this.
