It's been awhile since I submitted any wallpapers, but I found some inspiration! The new Gurren Lagann manga has some beautiful artwork in it, and of course I went straight to the art involving the beloved Kamina. Instead of making a wall on Kamina himself, I wanted a wallpaper that displayed just how much of an impact he made on the other characters in the series - despite his early death.
Everyone who has watched the series knows about his glorious and ultimately tragic death scene. We cheered when we saw the first Drill Break attack, and cried when we saw his classic smile while dead in a cinematic rain storm. Any person who didn't think the series was epic, now knew it was.
So in this wallpaper I wanted to show the scene of his comrades lamenting his death from the manga itself. The artist used that classic, gritty and messy style that so defines the art in this series with a beautifully emotional scene. All I could really do was add some storm clouds to blend in and a dark blue monochrome color scheme to emphasize the dread all the characters were feeling at that time. I thought about using the text that was actually in the real panel, but I wanted it to be more personal from Kamina. Kamina loved his all his friends, but I felt that those special words of wisdom for Simon was much more appropriate.

I actually think that this would be a really epic wall... without all the text xD; The image/scene is so strong that it can stand alone, and the blue monochrome fits well. But the text actually kinda distracts from the wall because it looks slapped on. If there was a bit more of a paneling effect the comics-style fontage might work better, but as is I think you'd be better off without text.

I have to side with @flyindreams. I think this wallpaper is amazing and strong and displays such a sad scene with so much eypression, that the text isn't needed at all. If you use text, I would suggest another font, because comic sans isn't the right one for such a scene ^^ Use either calligraphic or grunge fonts, I think that would look a lot better ^^
But respect, I love this one. You spoilered me though XD However, I think this scene is awesome. I don't know if you vectored it or if you used the scan, because you didn't write it. But since it looks quite clean, you either have found a great scan or are really good at vectoring ^^ Either way is fine and I think it's a great wall :D I'll fav it!
P.s.: and if you decide to delete the text, please let me know :3 I would love to see it without text ^^

Hey!! Very cool, a new Gurren Lagann wallpaper. I really like what you did, as you said in the blurb, this really does show the impact Kamina had on the other characters.
I like the colour and the tone of this one and the text on the right hand side truly has an impact on the overall wall.
I like to see new GL wallpaper especially the really good ones :) Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing

I actually want to make a second version with one or two of the other panels showing Kamina dead in the cockpit, Yoko crying, and Simon mourning on the ground (which are all separate panels in the manga before this two page spread you see in the wallpaper). But a part of me feels that a bit to "much", and I like it as a single scene.
Some kind of text needs to go into the box though, because removing the text box would require a lot of re-drawing on the area where Team Dai-Gurren's Gunmen are at (one or two of them get covered up by the box...I really wish the artist made it smaller).
The manga is REALLY, REALLY good. I commend the artist they picked, because he puts TTGL's craziness perfectly on paper. I highly recommend reading it.

Definetly added to my favorites. This has to be and I swear one of the best Gurren wallpapers hands down. Not only did you make an epic scene using the anime, but you changed the design to make a comic book esque feel and it works damn well. I love the colors, and the rain effect makes a really nice image. Bottom line I would shake your hand for a wallpaper like this 20/10. Amazing job.
