I don't really know what I was thinking...everything seemed to fit for me so I just went with my instincts.
Anyway I started with a scan of Hijikata then added some brushes over his head in different tones- color burn, dissolve, etc...- I then put a border around the entire thing and added a texturizer over the border. I decided to put some brush stains around him like some one was drawing and accidentally dropped some ink or tea...I dunno... So anyway I really like Hijikata- awesome guy- hope y'all enjoy!
PS- Critiques are welcome but don't be mean about it. (Or I'll send a ninja after you.) /(oOo)#

I still don't like the white background, but your work is simply beautiful. I love the brushes that you used and the colors are really nice. The whole wallpaper is like an old drawing. And Hijikata is sexy as always!

Very well done. I love the softness of it and you didn't let the brushes overpower the wall. And of course you have quite a sexy subject there. |(n_n)| +fav from me.

if the background was in light sepia colour it's be perfect.
there's something I absolutely adore about this. probably the simplicity and elegance. it's nothing complicated yet it strikes me as beautiful. I really wish there'd be a widescreen one, I'd use it RIGHT NOW. +fav

I love the drawing and the brushes you used, it makes the wallpaper look like an old drawing. However like most said, the white background is a pity, I feel that a good old parchment texture would be better.

I also like the idea with the brushes and old style Japanese paintings but that border around kind of ruins everything - I'd remove that border and use more of a peachy background with some subtle textures or patterns. Other than that, nice job! :)
