Hi, ap people!

I've come back with my new wallie! At this time it's for Clannad. As I said before in my journal post, I made this tomoyo vector [/IMG]long time ago and couldn't mind the bg... But I've finally done it!!!

Making scene I decided to make a sunset in the city. It was hard work to make city buildings(I didn't make smth like that before) but I think, I made it good. The next thing: sunset. Making light effects was a bit difficult, too. I added a little piece of a sky, and transmission lines to make the scene more real. I was playing color balance, curves, etc., to make more realictic sunset. To make my character more realistic to the scene, I just used previous adjustments, too. I added a bit of texture to point it all.

While I was making this wall, I listened to songs higurashi osts =( )

File size (.psd): 55,83 MGB Layers: 18 Time: 3 weeks ('cause of exams)

Well, that's all I could tell you about my wallie! Critics&comments are apperciate! See ya!

p.s. I hope soon I'll make a new wallie! But it will be for Shuffle! (Hope I'll fifnish that to love ru wall later =( ) )

this is a great idea for a wall, but it could use a lot more work.

the buildings aren't right for the perspective, it looks like they're leaning. when making something like a complex cityscape, you'll need either a really good sense of perspective, or need to know how to make good use of perspective lines. you can use as many lines as you want, to help you align the content. check out the article She's on Fire for a simple example of using perspective lines to align content.

another really useful tool for making things straight in PS, which i'm assuming you use, is simply holding the shift key down when doing any action. that will make it so your brush, or path stays straight. it also, makes it so when you resize something via transform it stays in proportion.

practice drawing cubes and boxes to figure out how to draw the buildings.

next issue is the lighting on your character. the colors in the shadows are too warm, they need to be shifted to the blues more. the shading with hues section of this article. will help you understand what i mean.

your composition would be strengthened a little if you moved the character to the left a little.

why is the sunset in front of the clouds?

do a gradient for the entire bg, you can either paint it, vector it, or generate it with PS. then put the cloud layer on top of that, go ahead and just use a plain white color for the cloud brush. next you'll want to sample the some of the colors of the sunset to paint in the highlights on the cloud. then you'll want dark grays, with a hint of blue, purple or magenta to shade the parts of the clouds that the sun can't penetrate.

last thing, you'll want really sharp shadows on the backs of the buildings, the side facing us, and really bright orange highlights catching the sides and tops of them. pay close attention to light direction. also, put subtle highlights on the electric poles and wires. it's little details like that that make the walls amazing.

The background behind her could use a little more work, particularly the sunset. Good pick for the character though! Tomoyo looks cute. Nice job on her pose. I know that one's hard to do.
