Despite the fact that In the anime series and in the video game series, Shigeru or "your rival" is a complete narcissistic jerk, his character development in the manga series ends up making him endearing to me.
The scan of Shigeru comes from the AP gallery and I think this is a really wicked pose of him. Also, I noticed, that this poor "rival" lacks and real walls in the gallery despite his over-inflated ego.
Thus, the inspiration for this wall. I stuck with the color from Shigeru, and tried to incorporate the browns to help spice up the greys and whites and blacks in the wall. I also wanted to give the wall a bit of a grungy feel with a bit of an abstract twist, and opted for various layers of distressed scratches and arrows. I went with the straight arrows to help highlight how Shigeru is always looking to be the center of the show, and figured outlandish and obvious arrows would help get right to the that point.
*EDIT* Worked on fixing up the jagged outlines. Removed the drop shadow and lessened the opacity of Shigeru's name to make it much more subtle.

Shigeru/Gary/Green/Blue had always been my favorite rival, aside from Silver of course. He's quite endearing to me as well.
It's a nice and simple wallpaper. Matches Shigeru well.
