いますぐ目を凝らしてその暗黒に どんな世界も描き出せる すべての極彩色を見出すべきだわ -- 暗黒サイケデリック, by Ali Project

This is my first original artwork I've ever done....my head is throbbing and my eyes are burning with tears for some strange reason........urgh.....

Anyway, this was inspired by Ali Project's amazing 2007 album, Psychedelic Insanity. Hmmm....ahhh a link to amazon page with the album cover.

Monstrous, beautiful, dark, gothic, colourful, insane, that is Psychedelic Insanity. So I wanted this girl here to be in the same style as the album cover. I drew her based on Nobuhiro Watsuki's (RuroKen author) artwork. Changed her hair colour to be the same theme as the album, but the red fringe remains....it's a part of her. Gosh vectoring her on an Intel single core laptop is horrible.....every action I took had a lag time of...5 seconds or so....

She has a right gold eye and the left eye is *like that*. Yeah. Not going to explain. Anyway I added in a slight psychedelic in her right eye...just for effect. And the right eye, I did it with help from the great MissNysha's eye tutorial on deviantArt.

She has red streak marks on the left side of her body...though honestly, I was too lazy to add those marks on her left shoulder >.< I think the streaks are very ugly though. I don't want to remove them, because it is supposed to be ugly, but not this ugly. Urgh. I don't know what to do.

And the butterflies. Their wing colours are actually random psychedelic colours I created. I could not vector the butterfly from the album cover so I created these guys. I blurred them a little to soften them up, but I don't know if I should create more of them around. From my experience with my last wallpaper, I figured that fewer butterflies means more focus on the main character...and from the album booklet, I also noticed that Ms Arika doesn't have more than 2 butterflies with her at any time...so is 3 an overkill? Or too little?

From experience on my last wallpaper again, I applied a slight vignette to keep focus on the girl. Yup. Oh ya everything is mousework. God bless the person who invented the pen tool!! :DDDD

Hardest part: HAND SHAPE OMG Easiest part: Erm........doing the vignette???

Yes okay that's all. Any comments/critics are appreciated.

EDIT1: Yes thank you for telling me about the front pink hair not blending into the back...I was lazy and hoping to get away with it :P Anyway I changed it...a lot of hard work again because my layers are rather badly organized (my first original work!!). I also added in a slight Gaussian blur (0.25px). As for the hand...I really wish I could change it, but this is the 10001th revision...I have no idea how to make it look better. Btw my reference was Yami no Matsuei's Tatsumi...whoops I can't find the image in AP here...

For those with a problem with the text...I am going to put up a textless version at my webby :) Sorry I can't please everyone...

i like the colors on this a lot. it's quite ambitious in that aspect.

there s one thing keeping me from really liking this, and that's the front part of the hair. you should really adjust the stroke on that, so it actually fits in with the rest of the wall. as is it looks like a piece plopped over the top of the wall.

The text ruins this piece for me. Especially the effects on the text and the fact that they overlap everything. Love the butterflies.

The style and resolution are incredible, but I think the bottom would look better in black than gray Good work, directly to the collection! |(VcV)|

Awesome work :-o !!! I'm really impressed. I mean, i don't know anything about making wallpapers. I don't even know what programs people use to make this :P But I can tell it was a lot of hard work to make this. I love the colours and the overall idea. I also looked at the album cover you said was your inspiration. Is it a good band? I love ALL the freakin colors you used! I love the eye, I love the butterflies' color combinations, and the tatoo/veins.

Being a brightly haired butterfly girl, it is necessary that I adore this. And I do.
