Hey guys! So here was my entry for the AP Clash of the Wallers contest. Thank you so much too all who was in charge and the judges and helpers of the contest. It was run very well and I had a great time participating. And congrats to @chibimisao who was my opponent and won! Now onto my description of my wallpaper and how it came about with the theme of the contest.
(The Human Condition)
My idea for wallpaper was centered around religion. It seems to me that over time religion has been weeded into our systems. At some point in life we all question it, research it., and either accept it or push it away. So many times I have seen humans blinded by it. Sometimes so blinded by it that they can’t see the reality around them. Sin and evil is also a big part of humans and that is also tied into this wall. There is alot of symbolism in it. I left the demon ears on him for that reason. Also a black cloth is draped around crosses on good Friday and holy Saturday to symbolize the darkness brought into the world by sin. I also tried to form sort of an anarchy symbol within the cross and chains as it looks like there is anarchy going on outside of the window. So there is my description on how my wall came to be.
When I made this wall I actually found the background outside of the window on zerochan. I had no idea it was someone's art on DA. So here I am going to link to the beautiful image and the artist for it. alexiuss on devianART. Aburod Terra + Calendar 2010

So I vectored the scan. I knew where I wanted to go with the wall when I started it. So I found the other images to use. I vectored a small bit of the window (mainly the edges) and than vectored the floor from the stock image.
Programs used: Inkscape and Gimp. Time spent: 2 weeks and maybe a little more.

I really love this wallpaper, it has such a deep meaning engraved into it, I really enjoyed the description you gave cause it gave a bit of info on what you were trying to portray in this wallpaper, and it helped me get a better grasp on it ^^ The coloring scheme everything about it ish just beautiful keep up the good work ^^

Wow! This is really good. :3 Really creative. It's always tough to totally recolor/vector a black and white scan! The bg is really neat...I like the textures, too. Great job! *faves*

Good wallpaper, but I got one thing im going to add to this wall and is that Im going to add the text KEEP OUT. Its Cliche but this wall screams it to me.

I think the position of the char is a bit off o.o I'd put him a bit higher and maybe blend him a bit more into the bg. But it's overall a nice wall with a very interesting concept. : )

this is really creative wall, no matter how you look at it, and you really surprised me there, when i saw this wall. you have outdone yourself in a way. the idea is really nicely executed, and i think your human condition with religion is cool in a way. big plus for chosing saiyuki and chosing him of all people(yeah he is my fav) but one big minus is the background picture...i also dont think artist inteded it to be a stock, but somehow it really fits there, except being a little streched than it should have been. but overall gz!+

Your concept was really great. I can totally relate to it. However, if some of the elements are executed properly, this wall would've been an EPIC WIN. Nevertheless, great job. ^^v

Great interpretation of the human condition. I really enjoy the layout and composition of this wall. I think it fits well and is well dramatized for the theme of the contest. :)

Wow, a lot of thinking went into this, making the concept interesting! On the technical side, some shading on the character would help him to blend more with the painted background. You have nice ideas; keep it up!

Just recently got into the Saiyuki series, and when I saw this image of Kougaiji while reading the manga--I loved it. I didn't think I'd see it again, but to use it like this...
It's beautiful, but heartbreaking at the same time. I love this. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. =)
