I'd love it more if the waves were more wavy but it's a nice blue water themed wall, the lighting is perfect and so is the vector, overall it's really pretty and since simplicity goes a long way for me, it gets my fave~

Does it feel tranquil and peaceful? Perhaps, perhaps not...
Does it feel simple? I guess you could say so. Does it feel empty? To me, well... yes it does feel empty and somewhat lifeless.

What do I see (envision) for such a scene (and such a funny character) that I don’t quite see here...?

• I see bubbles (big, small) coming from Squid Girl as she swims. Maybe even bubbles coming from an underwater volcano.
• I see colorful fishes swimming next to Squid Girl (just like ones you’d find in a coral reef); a bunch of playful little things constantly moving between the BG and FG. In other words, I see some kind of underwater life form around her and in the farthest part of the BG.
• Besides the rock, I see part of an old ship sank in the BG. Hardly visible.
• I see the bottom of a fishing boat (a bit distorted) right above from the water (and Squid Girl), as well a couple of more ripples.
• I see some motion blur on Squid Girl’s legs and arms as she swims for a better sense of movement and realism.
• I see more prominent-intense light beams coming thru the water.
• I see Squid Girl casting a fog-shadow.
• I see the bottom of the see becoming darker (a bit more) and the top lighter. * I see many “redundant” things that could’ve been done to make this scene neater (imo). Things that might require more work and time to accomplish...

I like the overall idea though. Plus anyone call Squid Girl (Ika Musume) is awesome, lol. Keep it up.

PS: I'm merely stating an opinion. No offense intended to anyone (just in case).

To use "theatre" terms that I learned yesterday, the picture has value in the shades of blue, progressively getting darker towards the bottom. Very simple, maybe a few air bubbles could have jazzed it up a bit, but I'm not art critic.

A very simple, blue wallpaper. I guess a proper background would not hurt, but it is fine without one as well ^_^ However, it is too bad the character looks like merely pasted onto the rest of the picture instead of actually being/swimming in the water, although the lighting and shading on the character do their best to avoid it (but I keep thinking that way still XD)... I like it anyways ^ 3^
