Song Illustration #9 - Sadness (by Enigma) I don't know if I should advise you to full-view it, it's up to you. Love it or hate it! Basically, everything started out with this screenshot. I took it using the good ol' Print Screen key, because I opened the file with QuickTime and I don't know if it has a Capture function. And I was too lazy to find out anyway!

Ahem. So I vectored the screenshot (which took less then I had expected!) and tried to recreate the atmosphere: Matsuri hiding in a church, thinking about her life. From the beginning, I had this idea in my head: to create clouds behind the window. I liked making the glass semi-transparent :3 I left out some of the rays, because [strike]I didn't know how to make them[/strike] they didn't come out well. Also, this time I used thicker outlines -2px (what were you saying about those outlines, abul-san? (XD) ) and blurred them a bit, to make them softer.

At first, I wanted to have another effect, like the one in one of the later episodes, when in the old, abandoned cinema a picture of the sky appears on the big screen, overlaid on the characters (those who have seen Sola know what I'm talking about). I wanted to achieve that, but it didn't turn out well at all, so I left it out. My favorite part would have to be making the window :) I like how it turned out, and I think the texture (default PS one, by the way) fits it.

This is absolutely beautiful. As previously stated, I believe that you've done a good job capturing Matsuri's emotion, not only through placement and colour choice, but through the lighting as well.

You've done an excellent job with this, and completely deserve this favourite.

And I really look up to you now...what with your vector skills. I'm attempting to vector again...and it's so darn hard. You really did a great job (of course). It's Nice Wallpaper. Colors in This Wallpaper are Really Really Cold and Sharp. They Looks Like be on Shining Metal. Graceful Darkness in the Background and the Heroine's Attractive Beauty Create Wonderful Combination. Although They Do not Neutralize Each Other, Their Harmony is Very Excellent and Fantastic. I Think Clouds in the Sky Mean Imcomming Danger, but Her Smiling Face Does not Worry about Them. Dim Lights Through the Clouds are Very Impressive. They May be Hidden Hope Far Far away or in Her Heart. Thanks for Your Good Work.

The use of clouds and blurring really makes this an exceptional piece of work. I do recall the episode, but looking at this wall almost makes me a bit skeptical about her sadness. To me, it looks more like she's in conflict within herself as to what she should do next. Anyway, she still looks as cute as ever thanks to the vector job. Great job!

This is quite good. The clouds effect does look very nice and the vector of Matsuri has preserved her expression quite well. The window effect looks a little odd, but it's more of something I haven't really seen before rather than a flaw. Definitely going to be put on my background rotation roster.

The BG looks really flat and the clouds at the left side look a little out of place. I do understand what you're trying to make though. Good idea, but IMO you should've spent a little more time on this?
