I'm really digging the changes you made to the original scan. The painting looks diffrerent from your last wall but I think it's a really nice change. I'm glad the fire turned out nicely, though to me it looks like it was a violent fire lol, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing, it's fierce.

I agree that the original scan isn't that attractive. But you your impression and improving it made it a whole lot better in comparison. The hair looks a lot better than ones in your previous walls. It looks similar to Valuna's hair style in her Saito wall. Where it has a lot of overlapping strands that fade into gradients and shadowing in the hair is defined. I think that's what you lacked before... hair depth using smooth shadowing. You can say you leveled up doing this wall!

I can feel her outfit with the way you painted it. But I don't really enjoy the gray strokes in there to define edges on the left side of the wall. It might be a desaturated purple... not sure. Keeping a purplish color would have been better for those spots even if the dress is white. The flowers were done well. Her eyes are very beautiful. They're really hawt.

I know you like to do full lips on your characters. But her lips make me think of Onizuka from GTO when he does his "Eh?" face. He makes a nasty look with a :o lol. It's kind of hard for me to like it but I guess it's minor. My main issue is with the fire. I know fire is hard as hell to do. Especially if you're only using the smudge tool because it usually discolors it and makes it a bit grainy. The fire lacks a bit of intensity because it isn't glowing as much and doesn't have as much contrast as I imagine it would be. There should be glows to the edges of her hair (sort of like the outer/inner glow PS effect but not uniform). It can be fixed using an airbrush and layer effects.

It's great that people are challenging themselves. I give you mad props for going through with it. :D

Heey Julie, just came to say it looks beautifully done, clean, crisp and pretty detailed, i like the round noses too, thought they'd poke someones eye out with the sharps but i guess not lol, funny what a little challenge can do eh? keep up the good work, i'll be rooting for ya :D

Ah yes, I was presented with this scan as well. XD You made her face very pretty - well done on the different colors in the eyes, because many don't choose to use different hues. ^__^ I have to agree with Tens about her mouth though - the upper lip does not need that dark upper line. It makes her look like she's puckering her lips. The part of the headdress wire that goes into her bangs is still on the "outside" of her bangs. Paint some hair strands that cover that blunt end. Your fire is done well, though a bit elongated and not quite emitting enough light. Her hand and the strands of hair in front of the fire are not backlit enough to suggest fire. You could even paint some embers or ash floating around too. But yes you wall fast! XD I rather like the crop of her you chose - nice movement and framing of her face. :)

Once again giving your style to a scan, very nicely done. I think her lips could be pinker/redder, and maybe some shine from the fire's light. I see only two petals...it makes it looks rather weird there, a few more could help it set the movement of the wall better. The lighting needs some adjusting, I don't really feel like she's next to fire...it looks more like the fire is infront of her rather than to the side as it's shown. A bit more orange/red on her would help that problem, it should be a glow to show that there is in fact light on her from the flames. The sky is nice though I think it could be a bit darker, it would help to give it distance. Just some nitpicks here and there but it is a very lovely wall, nice job.

Okay firstly, this is the best example of hair from you I've seen yet. Props for that :) There are still some awkward edges, shapes and ends that don't flow naturally but like I said its really improved from your previous work. A small nitpick about where her head piece goes into the hair on the left, there should be a part in the hair. As is, it looks floating or rather stuck on?

To the fire and lighting. The fire isn't really organic, it does just look smudged upwards but dude fire is so effing difficult so nice job. With such an intense fire behind her I feel as if there should be more red/burnt umber shading on the left side of her face, atm the light source looks more like shes facing it, and more reds and oranges throughout the lighting in general with some glow would have carried the fire theme further.

Different hues through the eyes is great, they work really nicely! I think you've made a huge leap with this wall, great work Julie Looking forward to your next wall

One thing that has always impressed me is how diligently you work. You don't stop until you are completely satisfied with the piece and, this is a great example of this too, you never turn down a challenge.

I don't know how many times I can say this, but once again I find myself loving the changes you made to the original scan. The adjustments with the nose were a fantastic idea and the whole image itself seems far more livelier than the original. I especially appreciate the improvements to her face and hair (I actually like her lips like that). I'm also rather glad that you decided to focus on her face too. She's gorgeous and with how much work you always put into each of the characters you do, I wouldn't have it any other way!

I'm also rather impressed with what you did in terms of the background. Fire is by no means easy to properly pull off and while I sort of feel mixed about it in here, I do have to say it's very well done! By doing so much researching and experimenting, you actually did a fantastic job overall with the flames. Although, I have to be honest in saying there is just something about them that I don't like overall, I can only imagine how much work went into them and I have to say they are probably some of the best looking flames I have ever seen. I'm also really happy that someone finally decided not to go kill crazy with the cherry blossoms. Keeping only a few in was a rather nice balance to everything else.

Overall, I really like what you did. It certainly is a gorgeous piece and I think you completed the challenge and then some. You also took an incredible step forward as an artist with the way you tackled those flames! I've really been enjoying watching how much you've been progressing as an artist, Queen. I can't wait to see what you have planned next!

The firewall does look artifical compared to the night sky and Nanaka, but not as much as to make it unbalanced. She looks nice in her miko outfit, clean white and darker tones, dark hair, and those floating red strings, which give the picture a sense of motion. A very nice wallpaper indeed.

Really beautiful, you know how I always like your kind of walling, love the colors, the painting and principally her hair, and double fav (if I could) for being an Myself; yourself wallpaper, because that was a freaking beautiful/sad anime, and it should have more wallpapers like this. +

I like this wallpaper especially the hair, i just dunno about the fire... hmmm it may just be me but I think it kinda looked stiff and smudged up...

It's amazing! The quality is very good and I love the color palette... now what I just realized when I downloaded this wallpaper: the name was [animepaper.net]art-art->resolution<-number.jpg o_O.... it doesn't go with my existing collection of AP-wallpapers, where the format was [AnimePaper]wallpapers_>anime<>author<>wallpaper_id<.

So in order to be able to tell later on what anime/manga/whatever the wallpaper was from, I have to rename the file myself o_o...

This doesn't have anything to do with your great wallpaper. It deserves a +fav! thank you very much for your great wallpaper :D.

For some reason I really love the flames in the background.

This certainly is a beautiful piece of design and the embellishment of the maiden's hair is amazing. Keeping the original concept but optimizing it to this level is nothing short of astounding. I like the changes made to the fire, wish I knew how to do this stuff.

Oh great job. I had this as an option for the challenge with @trickypriest as well, but I chose one from Black Lagoon. I am very happy to see how well this came out, I to had my doubts when first seeing this scan. But after thinking about it I am glad you did this one instead of me. +Fav Your friend, @TheMajor

I like how you coloured the girl AnD your flames/fire looks soo much better then in the scan! But you could have inproved it a little bit more - so that it would look realler!
