WOW! It's marvelous!I know you've been working very careful and long on it! Details, composition, colors -all carefully planned and makes harmonical and charming look! And even it seems that the fight begins(his eyes, pose - you truly showed them and filled with your special style) - wallie 'alives'. This wallie is a masterpiece - what else I can say?

It's finally done!

Saito is #1! Badass mofos covered in blood are the best. Too bad there are very few scans out there that nails them perfectly. That means having a great pose, feeling their emotion through their gestures, and being a great painted piece that's interesting enough to wall. Luckily, Yone Kazuki has a few scans that fit the criteria. :D

It's interesting how you changed the original scan to fit your background. The character's contrast on his clothing was lowered and everything was lightened up due to the ambient lighting of the bamboo forest. Red highlights on his sheath were exchanged for green and removed from his skin. You added lighting on to the left side of his body and smoothed out the sharp lighting on the right side. Then there are more subtle changes that add up to create a complete piece.

What I really like about this wall that's different from your other works is that you added a grainy texture to him. It adds a rugged feeling to his character. It reinforces the fact that he isn't out in middle of the forest for a nice stroll. He's out to kick ass and fight until the end. The hair really stands out because of it's strong color and contrast. Extending the fuchsia further and increasing its saturation was a great choice. It makes his hair a lot more attractive as opposed to having it more on the purple side which wouldn't be as exciting.

Having a personal connection with the background really adds on to the fact that you embed a piece of yourself when you make wall. Seeing a bamboo forest in person must have really inspired you. I like how the bamboo stalks were painted. Doing several visible strokes on each segment makes them feel more organic because it creates texture. You did the background blur really well. It went from sharp textured, slightly blurred with no texture, blurred more, and finally to complete blur.

Honestly, you've grown a lot as a waller over the years. All your works scream out "flawless" but there is always room for improvement. You're a great example of someone who is an amazing waller and continues to push their limits. Each wall you continue to refine your painting style. The colors become more vibrant, hard and soft strokes blend in more beautifully, and your backgrounds seamlessly compliment the character.

The refined and smooth painting style you have is a huge inspiration. Even to wallers who are more vector oriented like myself. A great piece of work will always be recognized. Every time I see your walls I want to go and do a fully painted one. But I really need to get off my tired lazy ass and finish my VectaDesu entry by the end of the month. Hundreds of shapes and gradients await me. x_x

Im so happy to finally see it finished. Its just amazing, on the vector the attention to detail on Saito is so eye catching. Not only did you do Yone Kazuki artwork justice but adding your extra touch makes it look even better. I like the extra touch of the blood putting him in fight mode XD On the background its a good structured bamboo forest and use of detail work as well.

This will be permanent on my desktop for a long while :3

This really catch my eyes. Even though I don't like Hakuoki dodges tomatoes from angry fangirls, this one really stood out. I love the bright colors, and when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought they look like coming out of TV! Hehehe.. And the background, look "alive" too >__<

I always respected your patience for such details and also your skills in both paiting and in vectoring. At first it didn't look like one of yours, I really don't know why, but it's kinda different, but the way you made the wallpaper showed that it is actually yours, I mean, your style is recognizable from distance but this wallpaper have something different, and I can't point what it is. Anyway, the colors are freaking awesome, the background is great, loved the bamboo and the details on the sword, hair and clothes are simply amazing, I really like your wallpaper because of the details that you put it, and that's one of the awesome things in it. I'm not a fan of bishies, but this wall is so sexy I could make love to it. Ok that sounds wrong, what I mean is that this wall is just stunningly awesome! I love the more realistic look, with the fantastic lighting and lineless approach. The colours are amazingly rich yet subtle. Also, I must compliment you on the background. Many of your previous walls featured a more simple and/or blurry background, or were just based on the initial scan, so I feel this is something new from you! I really love the details the depth in the background, so great job there!

I've seen this wall develop as Nysha and I were discussing FFVII. BUT, and that's a huge but, I have never imagined it to be this jaw dropping. This work IS another step to walling perfection. What I'd like stress out is that the use of lines has been cut to a minimum, but with the gorgeous interplay of lighting, painting and vector, you have made it look like it was your own work. I love how everything falls together. Truly a breathtaking work.

This is definitely a cut above the rest. And like what Tens said, this is a beacon to all us wallers inspiring to be better. It's like Saito is telling us, "I want you, to wall better!" Your works have definitely made it's mark in this community and I hope I will see many more to come.

This is amazing, the green and the pink or violete, is a good and right combination being it positive/negative, for me the hair is like The protagonist of this wall =D I liked so much! whoah! the ribbon over the katana look so amazing drawed, honestly I do not like the same green light over the katana (just a matter of my preferences) because it look good, The shadow behind him is the perfect point to stand out him as the center. The bamboo o.o so good the lights over it :D

Aside from your astounding vectoring technique, what most impressed me about this wallpaper is your conceptual skill. You've taken it far beyond the norm. The work and its context within the space of the canvas forcefully creates a mediative space, an interval affirmed by a certain measure of force that is keenly felt by the observer (myself, in particular).

A really nice job! Very appealing to the eyes, mostly the nice blood touches of revision 2, and the overall color/lightness management.

The drawing lines are really well defined and the bambu's artwork is really fitting.

This is an excellent wallpaper. I know its just a wallpaper, but it has what I would call "depth." It is very appealing to the casual eye at first glance: a quiet glow that is comforting and reminiscent of a hearth and all the warm and inviting things associated with that ambience. The whimsical, contemplative look that Ed has belies his age -- he is so young, and yet he has experienced so much, perhaps more than someone of his youth should be asked to. He has been forced to grow up faster than he should have, and it has left its mark on his soul.The lyrics are perfect for the theme and overall feel; a sin one cannot erase will leave you changed forever, something that would give anyone pause for thought. There is wise appropriation of the darker layers coinciding with the alchemical symbols and the straight columns of Japanese characters, that old world parchment feel is perfect for the ancient art of alchemy. You lightened the area near Ed which I think is needed to leave his person distinct, otherwise it might meld him into the rest of the wallpaper.Your choice of kanji, "Pursuit of Knowledge", is also used coloquially as "training" which is a great compliment to the overall depth; anyone who is familiar with the series knows that all of Ed's travels can be deemed as one big training regiment, but isn't life like that for us all? Training and learning and practicing and growing?This is really good work Mr. Black, and I'm very pleased to have come across it!Cheers!

This result just screams highlight!!!! omg, as always Nysh, you never fail to impress: once more, you've pushed your boundaries as an artist. There is honestly nothing about this scene that doesn't work out, it's perfect in every way, from the impeccable way you paint hair, to the bloody stains and the awesome detailed structure of the bamboo O.O

I almost passed on this one because I wasn't sure about all the blood.

Thank goodness I noticed that revision. Now there's no way I can say no! What can I say? The lighting, depth, color, detail, positioning? All outstanding.

So yeah, I never thought I'd end up liking and/or faving a bishie wall, but this wallpaper is just so darn good. The character came out great, and the background complements him very well. My favorite part is probably how good the lighting looks in both the character and bamboo background. Good job!
