I just read Dogs manga by miwa shirow, the story is really interesting and the art is amazing =D so this made me make a wallpaper for it.
I started with the background first (in photoshop) which was inspired by coldplay viva la vida tour logo 
i used a watercolour textur to the background and used a blackish gradient to add a dark feel to it. Then i added the 4 paint lines with paint and watercolour brushes using only 2 colours, red and black. I think those colours represent the revenge and the darkness within the serie. As for the font i used it was called broken stick.
this is the original scan that i used, which i vectored in illustrator. Since i wanted to keep that dark feel to the paper, i choose to colour the characters with grey, red and black.

The characters are a bit off center----not sure if that was intentional though. The paint strokes need to be more larger than it is right now. It must be compact like the one you are portraying. Right now, they seem very far apart. Also, the text is not working out so well (it looks flat and doesn't blend that much with the BG). Try searching for some font types that would work----or better yet, why not paint it too? Just use a nice brush to give it that nice effect. I'm loving the color scheme of the BG. Plus the textures are great for it too. I think "DOGS" would be nice too instead of a "BANG", don't you think? ^^v
EDIT: I just noticed a large cut-off part at the lower right section of the wall (look at the paint stroke).

I intentionally put the characters off the center, i liked them that way better than in the middle. As for the pain strokes, at the beginning i made them thick but i thought that they overpowered the characters so i rescaled them. Also, i tried to make it different than the tour logo by setting lines apart instead of compact, but i'll try it the other way and see how it goes. For the font i agree with you, it doesn't work that well i'll try to fix that. I did a DOGS version with the letters painted. Thanks for telling me about the pain, i didn't check on that corner so i'll fix it.

I really like the vector and the colour scheme, wonderful. :)
I agree with Horseradish about the wider strokes. Another suggestion for the text is to maybe try a light texture on it to blend it more with the rest of the wall.

Thanks for your lovely comment =) About the strokes i wanted them to be far apart, but i'll upload another version with wider ones :) As for the text i'll try to paint it and see how it goes.

I don't really mind the strokes or the text that much but I do think that the strokes could be somehow more blended into the BG because they stand out too much while the emphasis should be on the characters who kind of get lost in those bars...
Other than that, I like the idea and the color choice. Keep it up! :)

You are right, the background kind of overpower the characters. I tried to make it the other way round by adding a stroke around the characters but it looked weird so i left it that way. Thanks for your comment and i'm glad that you liked the idea :)

I love the color scheme, but I wish that Badou and Heine stood out more. I think if you made their shadows darker somehow would improve it, but that's just my opinion ^^ +fav

That's a pretty big resolution you got there. Well, anyways, you really did a nice job on your idea of being inspired by Coldplay's Viva la Vida album, it was an eye catching one. The background do really look nice, but one thing I notice is that I think you focused too much on the "DOGS" text, and it stands out more than the characters. Probably a little bit of blending will do. Characters' vector is awesome. Love the DOGS better than the BANG.
