Ahhh....it's been a LONGGGG time since I've managed to sit down and put together a wallpaper.
Since what I'm doing here may not be immediately obvious to everyone without proper context, I'll try doing a bit of explanation here. In a nutshell, this wallpaper is supposed to be a spoof of sorts of the movie "Crash". While I haven't actually seen the movie myself, the basic idea was derived from the movie poster as well as its tagline "Moving at the speed of life, we are bound to collide with each other". While the term 'collide' use in the film's context probably has something to do with racial tensions and that kind of shizz (if Wikipedia is any accurate), I'm using it here to best describe the storytelling of Durarara!!. Anyone who has watched the anime will know that the basic premise of the anime revolves around how seemingly disconnected storylines and characters are actually interwoven together to form the anime's true plot. To take it a step further, the concept of this wallpaper was to capture the essence of the entire second arc of the anime into one image, of how the stories of the three main characters are (unknowing to them) actually intertwined with one another.
The execution of this wallpaper is actually quite simple compared to some of my earlier wallpapers. The background images were re-CGed from screenshots from the second OP. Characters were vectored using Illustrator based off screenshots also taken from the second OP with some minor touch ups done in Photoshop. The colour palette was sampled from the Crash movie poster as well as Durarara!! scans from AP. It's overall a rather simplistic wallpaper but this time around I going for a more 'less is more', more movie poster-like look.
And since I'm hardly dealing with raster graphics in this wallpaper, I decided to take advantage of this and render a mind-blowingly large 5120x3200 version to upload (even though my pathetic laptop can only support resolutions up to 1280x800 T.T). Other screen resolutions may be updated if I can squeeze the stuff in the wallpaper into a different screen ratio.
[Edit] An alt text version has been uploaded with a slightly different tagline [/Edit]
My current irks with this wallpaper would be the blank space at the bottom as well as the typography. For practical and conceptual reason, I had to put the huge black bar at the bottom but I ran out of ideas after that point. If anyone has suggestions to fix this or any tips on the typography of the title and tagline (or any specific fonts you wish to recommend), please leave a comment below.
Any other comments and critics (constructive or objective) are most welcome =D

Concept of three face in serious mind is very creative.

This is very classic how did it, and yes like a wide poster on the highway, for a moment I though it was yozakura xD. if I would change something would be; the black rectangle with less opacity, but just good how did it, even the blurred BG, is exactly like a poster xD good work man!

Nice Job! It's simplistic, but very effective.
I love the phrase you placed, 'moving at the speed of life, we are bound to eventually'. Thats cool mate.
I think, if you give it some perspective, it would work out more nicely with it, like tilt the characters a bit... And I like your title, look so nice
Good work, hope can see your new wall soon. have a nice day~~

It's made well, and also alone the fact that we have there Anri on screen makes it for me appealing, but to say the truth those boxed characters could never really do a piece what would outstand. Incorporating them is always better, as the poster style.

I don't see the blank space at the bottom as a crisis at all. It enhances the subtle minimalism of your CG work; it actually gives space for the viewer to appreciate the clarity of it all. But if you really can't sit still then maybe an overlay of a typography pattern could present something to the already nice layer depth you have playing or add a bit of 'Crash' entropy. Technovia [Caps] and Subtext might be a nice fonts for the 'Crash' word too. However, I quite like the broken glass effect; you can play with its opacity and maybe add some bevels/embosses.
And I totally dig the mindblowing hi-res too, but there's also the slightly weird pinkish hue of Ryugamine's mouth and the unusual thickness of Anri's glasses highlights (it may be just me though). In common resolutions this isn't much of a biggie; which is why I am going to slap this onto my 1600x900 monitor's desktop +

I agree that there is a bit of a problem with the black bar/text at the bottom, but what can you really do? It's a wallpaper, not a poster, and the icons have to go somewhere.
I would like to maybe see the subtitle text running between the character squares instead of below the word "Crash", and make "Crash" larger, maybe more spaced out instead of small and dead center? Personal suggestions, though. The linework is wonderful :)
