Finally joined AP ^_^ Thought I'd begin by uploading one of my old walls, so...
One of my first impressions of Gankutsuou was: "Look, it's a Klimt painting...but moving XP " ::to see more of Gustav Klimt >> The Darque Dragon Inn:: So I thought it would be interesting to do a Gankutsuou wall with patterns from Klimt paintings.
I actually chose the painting for Haydee's robe first: Expectation, one of my favs. Then I chose the image of Haydee that I think best expresses expectation >> gankutsuo:xmas issue, vectored it, and inserted the patterns. The other Klimt paintings I used were Fulfillment ::the companion piece to Expectation:: and Medicine (Hygieia).
The bg is based on a watercolor(?) of Albert and Franz that I saw in the artbook: ocean scene, vintage looking, antique florals. Vectored the balustrade from a stock photo of Rome.
Comments and suggestions welcome.
WIDESCREEN versions on my site.

I love Gankutsuou..the way the whole anime is done just blows me away....this is a very simple piece but I like the way the scan looks and the sky is simply amazing...it's kind of a lonely wall but I love the detail that you put into it...the small railing on the side is a nice touch and brings in some more color but even if that wasn't there her outfit would have been enough color lol...it's a very beautiful wall and you did a wonderful job on it...thanks for shareing.. I can't wait to see your next work^^ ...A++ and a Fav (*^_^*)

Serenity. That's what this invokes me in... :P Clean and simple, very nice. You seem to have a way with these open spaces.
Good work!

It's a good wallpaper, but I feel that you could have done more to it, or rather improved it.
One thing that surely might help the wallpaper being more interesting would be to create more dramatic sky, right now it's lacking contrast and it's too uniform in terms of colours, and general lighting, which tends to make it look a bit "boring" for the eyes. Then, you could try adding some other element to it.. like I dunno, the shape of buildings on the left side done in medieval, or roman/greek or victorian style, having them blending with the colour of th sky itself. All small things that would surely help the wallpaper look more interesting without throwing its balance off or without making it too crowded.
That said though, it's still a good job. Keep 'em coming. :)

Love the muted colours, and kudos for the Klimt inclusion. The minute I read that I thought of The Kiss. ^__^ Lovely job.

Very good wallpaper, nice and simple. Although I think it could use a bit more work... Haydée looks a bit out of place, you could've tried to blend her more in the environment, say, placing her on the balcony or something. Still, it's quite nice the way it is.

It's good to see more Gankutsuou wallpapers. Especially ones of Haydee! She's so pretty, this makes a great wallpaper!

I like the simplicity of this. I think that helps give it a purity of mood without distractions.

This is elegant because of its zenlike simplicity. The empty space says as much about the lonely personality of Haydee as the image of her. I dislike busy wallpapers. Yours is the kind I like. Two thumbs way up, four stars, whatever, this is marvelous.

Now this is stunnin, absolutely wonderful, totally expressed the girls beauty. the background of the Mediterraniean sea is one of the theme in the anime as well~ nice blend!

Awesome wallpaper. I have a lot of Gankutsuou walls but I love this one. Thank you!

The contrast between Haydee and the relatively empty sky in the background fits the title of the wallpaper. Not my cup of tea, but nicely done.

Gankutsuou is awesome, and I love Haydee, so this wall immediately caught my eye. I like the robe, as well as the overall atmosphere it has. A lot of the Haydee wallpapers I've seen are really colorful, which makes sense, because the things she wears usually are. However, I like the colors you did and didn't use here. Great job.

Wonderful use of color. :)

It's nice but there is more sky than actual art. I think there could have been something more to it like a city scene or better yet the underworld construct of the count's mansion in Paris. Still is a nice wallpaper though.

Lovely details, it's really well made and the details suits the style of the wall very well. The sky looks great and I really love the feeling of the wall. It's really beautiful and it easily qualifies as one of my favourites.

Aww... Haidee looks so alone, but she's got a look of hope in her eyes. She's such a sweet character.

I ADORE the simple, bleak nature of this wallpaper mixed with the muted, but brighter colors on her dress. Amazing.

Beautiful! I like the way you draw the background. It's just like she's shanding in the fog. Great work.

Wow, you've brough so many different elemnts into play here to create a beautiful and cohesive scene! It's hard to believe they were all seperate. I agree with the pattern sused resembling Klimt, one of my favorites, so I love that you used his actual paintings. The background is subtle but effective, letting her stand out in the foreground. The only thing I would change would be to place her behind the railing, I knwo it would cover some of the lovely pattern but it would make it appear as if she was standing on the balcony, waiting expectantly.
