I notice I tend to ramble, so I’ll try to keep this short. Full description here.
Long time no touch Photoshop, hence I return with a simple wallpaper. This is for the love of Rurouni Kenshin, and a return to my basics: wallpapers for me. I had gotten too caught up in this online business. I cared TOO much about pageviews and others' opinions, and I was feeling very miserable. So I decided to throw all thoughts out of the window and did this for myself. I love Aoshi. Wasn’t too hard to decide.
Copied this art style, but added a blue hue instead. Original character ref here.
My first time adding texture by using a different smudge brush on strength 90%. I know I’m probably going to get comments on the empty left side, but you know what? I don’t really care, because I want this wall to symbolize ME, the ME being: I love character painting, and I hate backgrounds. Besides, this wall is good for students who clutter their desktops with documents ;P
Anyway, (shameless) publicity here: Rurouni Kenshin is getting a new anime, in line with the 15th anniversary of RK! Yay! I hope this time it reaches out to new fans, and people appreciate this timeless classic of a wandering swordsman and his journey to redemption :)
And of course, as per any loyal RK fan, I shall hope, fervently, for the Jinchuu Arc to be animated.

Really, really, really, REALLY well done. :D From a manga panel, to a colored one? Great job on this one. You've recreated the style perfectly. The colors (even though they are monochrome) blend really well. It does really give an impression of coldness/hatred by the looks of his face. :D

yup i'm exciting about the new anime :D i like your idea is very very elegant and refined, chromed! i love the eyes like that, i guess if the whole wp share the same scene something sharp on his eyes is ok, and you're keeping the nobuhiro style too. I feel that his lips look weird, seems open and not close like the manga version. D: BG is diffucult to me D: it suxs! i'm always stuck there D: Really a great job, misterious, relaxing, sharp & smooth, the empty side is the best for desktop. I could use this :3

Wah, new Kenshin anime?? *_____* Zomg!! Your wall is actually rather neat! I don't think it's empty at all - it creates a certain mood like this. Simple yet elegant and effective. And you have a great texture on it too. :3 Good job. Keep making what YOU want to make. :D

thats surely one of the most interesting ways to color. i really love the sharpness and non sharpness :) also the blue tone is <3+
