I wanted to practice some of my Photoshop skills again on a wallpaper. I still need to learn alot about wallpapers. First upload here.
I'm more specialised in layouts and such. The difficult part for me, was definitly the masking of the picture! It didn't work out the way I wanted, so I tried a different technique instead. It took like .. less than 3 hours to make this one?
I really like the playful arrows and brushes on it. (didn't add too much, just enough to get a little extra touch into the wallpaper)
Scan used is by ancyobi.
I'd love to get some critiques or any tips/tricks on this one. It would help me out a lot! Especially since I'm a Design student, I'd help me out to recieve critiques.

I really like it! It's unfortunate that the wallpaper isn't widescreen. :( And---this is just a pet peeve of mine, my being a vector artist and all--- but the scan would have worked if it was vectored. But yeah, I really, really like this. :)

Next time, I'll work on my screen format(1680x1050) or maybe a bit bigger. I'll search for some formats later this week!

the core concept is good, although not very memorable the real problem for me however is those grainy scanned characters sticking out like a sore thumb out of the crisp vectored bg (extraction could probably be slightly better too) im no designer myself, but from my point of view the bg is good, yet very non-specific - i mean it doesnt really seem to have any real connection to the characters and thus they dont enhance each other too much sharing neither color palette nor theme

Kind of strange, since I took the scan from here with the color palette on the right of the page. I took the exact color it told me.

Definitely would be better if vectored, the quality is not quite the best and there are also parts (feet, some hair parts) where are even flaws in it. Plus a few extraction problems by the legs. With vectoring you could solve all at once, the style of this anime is nothing difficult after all. Plus I think a scenic background would be more suited, as this abstract, where they don't seem to have any connection with. Like some kind of street scene would be quite welcomed.

Yes! A street scene would be nice, I was thinking of that after I made this one. Maybe another version for the nearby future? :)
I'll try to vector it next time, It would brush up my illustrator skills as well!
