Here I am thinking that I'll not be able to submit my vector in time again OR that I'll be rushing my work but----miraculously, I just finished it on time. :D LOL. Boy, it's such a relief. (OwO)
Anyway, the theme for this 14th round of VD was ZOOM POWER. When I saw the theme, I already had a lot of scans going through my head at that time. I was thinking of doing another scan from the video game section when my sister told me to do one that's from the anime section. Since my last 2 works are from the video game section, I got her point about taking it to the other direction. ^^v
So while browsing for a close up from my favorite animes, I stumbled upon this scan of Dark Mousy from D.N.Angel:
I wanted to do something conventional but unconventional in a way that it'll somehow work out together. LOL. Did I confuse you? XDDDD
Anyway, this is really what I had in mind when I see/read "close up"----head shots or something similar. So head shot it is.
I really had fun in vectoring Dark----particularly his outlines and the colors itself. :D I had fun playing with the gradients too. As for the shadows and such, I tried really hard to combine the sharpness of the gradient against the softness of the blur. To sum it all up, I'm quite happy and satisfied with the finished product. :D
I guess that's about it. XD

Very nice lines, although I wish the face would've held more depth to it. I can spot the shading on it, but I can blends in rather than creates depth and definition in certain areas, especially around the mouth. It's a shame, since the original scan does show that. I'd personally also add some more depth to the outer rim of the irisses. A wider darker outer rim automatically shapes the iris. But to be honest, I am nitpicking here and there.

I love the colors in his hair. You did a nice job keeping to the scan. The lines look great and I like the soft shading on the face. Nice work! :D

It's a nice vector, would be even better with some deeper shades to his face or better defined. His eye is a bit flat but the hair is perfect! :D

first!: i am huge fan of yukiru sugisaki art, second!: Creative sig +1. Overall looks very good, the color are good, energic. I understand your idea of the techniques combination, This may sacrifice some parts or the vector over what part stand out with which technique, for that reason i saw the skin lacks of some details, shades you miss, or maybe you want this simpler. The details on the eyes, eyebrow, eyelashes are very well traced, i must to say I miss the dark edge on the eye globe >.< I think you did it well as the main focus and is a good result =)

This is cool! I like what you did with the hair, most especially. and the logo you used is awesome!. My only 'wish' is that you work more on the colors of the face so it matches the one in the scan some more. the scan seems to have a wider spectrum of colors used in the character's face, from the near white under its eye to the depth of the shadow at its neck and under the lips and nose. Thank you.
Oh I forgot to include the brighter shade of the eye in the scan. Looking forward to another edition.

This is a cool vector. I like that you added a bit of a light source.
It's very clean. The lines are really good. And the colours you used are nice too.
Overall it's a good vector. So well done :)
