The Requiem Of Lost Soul

Oh wow, what an awesome wallpaper! I think I like version 1 and 2 the most. The reason I prefer two is because it is slightly "lighter" and doesn't have the overlay effect of the other two. Don't get me wrong, I like dark wallpaper and there is nothing wrong with the overlay per se, but in this case the lighter effect gives it that little extra (this is just my opinion though) In version one I like the faded lotus and the swirly effect that you used, they would go perfectly with a dark glass theme in Win 7.

As an aside, thank you for the interesting history, it's something I didn't know. Personally I rather like the whole idea of lost souls (like the floating lanterns to guide lost spirits home) and that makes these wallpapers extra special for me.

The vector is really clean even on the highest resolution and I really like her expression.

I instantly feel melancholic and nostalgic sentiment not just from her, is in the air of the BG! is like she is feeding the ambience around her, my fav is the second revision, may the others rev. depress me! xD I think is hard to make that feeling across the wall is scary! i don't know is she is coming from the lake, singing for the ghosts, the mist. The 1st Rev. had this messy texture like grunge i like that! maybe too over textured some parts, but is doesn't matter, she had this expression so peaceful, sad, quiet and of course, a Chelo! I love the sound of that instrument. Mixing all of those elements brings this a beautiful but sinister work!

Wow, so beautiful. I personally prefer the second version more than the others because the misty lake is just gorgeous! The other versions seem a little bit over-textured to me but they're still brilliant! But I'd like them as much as the second version if there were less textures on them.

Anyway, continuing to the details... I LOVE the reflections. They are perfect! Also, really nice work with the girl on the wallpaper. I love the way she is colored. Sharp yet soft because of the blending. The colors look painted. Really nice! Same goes for the cello. I'm just wondering how the cello would look with some wood-like texture, not that it isn't good as it is. It would just be something fun to experiment with.

I know you meant for your wallpaper to look dark and maybe a bit sinister, but to me, it is totally calm and beautiful. But I do sense a bit of mystery behind it. The biggest mystery to me is why she isn't freezing.

I personally prefer the 2nd revision because everything flows together nicely with the smooth vectors. The flowers also glow nicely in that version. :D I just think it needs some ripples around her to make it look more like she's in the water. A few smaller ripples around the floating flowers would also be nice. :)

It makes your wallies more special, as they have some dedication behind! What impresses me all the time, it's the way you capture the moment, the mood of the wall of the day/holiday:

• by creating beautiful scenery - like here;(your lilies pads are so awesomely done!)

the lake always was some spiritual nature thing in all folks beliefs, so you give actually 3 different beliefs versions;

• choosing the great representative image and make stunning vector out of it!

• and adding extra touching effects, which line the 'wonderfulness' of the wallie! Amazing!

This is a beautiful wall. when i first saw it i was attracted by its peaceful and calm atmosphere that it represents. Revision 2, to me, is the best version, everything fits perfectly together. The floating flowers that surround the character they look as souls that are gathering around her to listen to her melodies and the mist just enhance the effect and add that ghostly feel to the wall.

TBH, I really like the first version of your wallpaper BUT, I would like for the petals to be not under the sea. D: The grunge feel of it gives it that more impact and drama to it ('cause of the angry waves of the sea).

Right now, I'm loving the Silent Lake version more than the others because it looks so serene and peaceful.

Here are some suggestions that you might want to consider or not:

• The lotuses are kinda uniform in distance for me. It would be nice if they are randomly scattered throughout the whole wall (like there's a cluster here, a solo there).
• Try adding in some rocks maybe (especially underneath her 'cause she looks like she's squatting/sitting on an invisible chair). Some silhouette of rocks as well in the horizon----apart from the land formations behind her.
• Why not add a silhouette of a temple behind her? Not exactly a temple----you know those kinds of temple-like gates? Just to add that overall ghostly feel to it as well. It may look like it's where the ghosts/lotuses are coming from. :D
• Although it might be cliche----some floating/glowing orbs perhaps? More like fireflies to represent the souls as well.
• And yes, just like the others, ripples would be nice to define that there's water there.

Your vector is clean and good. I like how you vector the girl. XD The colour is beautiful.

I like version 4 the most as I feel that everything flows together on that one and you managed to bring out the sombre mood in it. However, you can still do more on the lighting as well as varying the floating lotuses on the wall, be it the tone or the position. addition of ripples will make it better too.

Some ligting can still be added on the wall and details, such as the use of brushes to make the fireflies effect as well as textures to make the whole thing more interesting.(Sorry, you know that I am a big fan of brushes and textures in walling. lolz)

For bg design, as the others have pointed out, adding the temple's gate or shrine can be interesting.You can refer to the anime or artwork of Jigoku shoujo. Perhaps you can be inspired. XD

But I still like the way you did it. XD Great job on this wall. Looking forward for your next one.
