It's been a long while.
Rurouni Kenshin was my first anime (excluding Sailor Moon, which in my book didn't count since I watched it in Chinese and didn't understand a word of it). And Kenshin was my first love <3.
As I said in a message to @Gideon just before posting this... "pretty bishie kenshin holding a very big knife he has redeye like me with sprinkles on top and zombies in the bg."
The consensus was that "Zombies are always a nice touch."
Extra thanks to @CrimsonCyanide for encouragement, and @Nysha for the color-correction/contrast-rebalance help at...er...6am in the morning.

Omg, i'm the biggest Kenshin's fan ever. This is my favourite anime for a LONG LONG time. I love this image, and i have a lot of t-shirts with this pic! The wall is amazing, I love the details on Kenshin and his dark colors don't exclude the simple silhouettes in the background. The touch of orange in the hair is perfect since to me it's Kenshin's best feature.
The strong wind spells out battle atmosphere and it's very well used to make the buildings fade in the background.

It's well worth the wait! You've really nailed the hair down, love those individual strands. Love the foggy blur effect and the limited palette of the background characters, that's really cool! The hair and eyes are definitely the best for me though, you can see all the effort you went into! Fantastic work!

I have to admit, when I heard you were walling again, I was rather excited and curious to see what exactly you would be working on. It seems like for each piece you do something different each time, but for this one it was a bit different since I don't think I've seen you this excited since I've known you about walling something and the end result shows it greatly.
The biggest wow factor in the wallpaper is Kenshin, and in a wallpaper to where my eyes are drawn to each little areas that says a lot on just how much love he was given. You can tell that Kenshin holds a special place in your heart, simply by the level of craftsmanship demonstrated. I don't think I've ever seen him so full of life, so vividly full of color and pop. He's a good looking guy, with a dark and mysterious past and it's conveyed perfectly just through color alone.
Oh gosh, where do I start? So, I have to admit I really love what you went for. When you told me about putting a bunch of bad dudes withe evil intentions around him, I was thinking like a large number of guys, but this? This is perfect! It's just enough to give the ill-intention vibe, yet not enough to where it distracts you from your bishie or from the scenery. I also love the whole mist concept as well and how you chose to color the cherry blossoms. However, my biggest treat lies within the scenery itself. That background is absolutely gorgeous. Sticking to the color choices you did, it completely fits the mood of the background and the buildings are gorgeous as well.
I'm not going to lie, I could easily of rambled on more about this wallpaper, but when it comes down to it there is just one simple fact. This is the strongest Kenshin wallpaper I have ever seen. A wallpaper that perfectly captures that dark aspect of his past all the while maintaining his philosophical aspects from the television show. In order words, a wallpaper that perfectly blends the Trust and Betrayal OVA with the TV show, all the while being absurdly creative and memorizing. It's great to see you back and in top form, Jay.

this is great!
I love the way you blended the color elements together with the background and character. It gives it a unique and original style that works very well. But most of all, the HAIR is freaking fantastic. This wall is perfect, my only suggestion would be to add bigger sizes.
To sum up everything in one word: masterful!

Just love the way you colored it - the wallie is always recognizable in your unique style! The vector of the main chara is amazing, though the zombies (?) are payed the attention, too - they look too much good for zombies)) Even the bg, made as a one whole "finish"touch - it looks splendid! That's what I adore in your walls - every detail leads the viewer through some situation/story!

now this is what i call vector ART. not just vectoring, but the actual art application of the process.
you used creative lines, intense variations, and beautiful colors to make this not just clean, like vectors are, but interesting to look at. far too many people focus so much on the cleanliness of the image that they lose the actual artistic appeal that it should have. yes, their images are technically correct, but like playing an instrument, if you play a song perfectly, it's not your version of the song, not YOU playing the song, it's more of the song playing you, and that's just boring.
and i have to agree that the sig placement is very tasteful. overall, the thumbnail for this is pretty, but the fullview is gorgeous. not to mention ZZZOOOMMBBIIIIIIEEESSS!! i'm not putting this as my desktop, cuz it's just not my style for a desktop, but i'm going to have to fave it, for it's being a superb example of what vector art can be, not what it "should be", as some people would have us believe.

I must say that you really moved vector art to a brand new level here; the amount of details is just awesome and you used the colors potential to the maximum - everything just shines and fits and works together to make one, awesome dynamic scene full of vivid imagery and movement.

HOMG epic xD The color scheme kinda puts me in an old school mindset, and also since Kenshin is a pretty old series (he was one of my first loves too <3) But your vectoring style is so sharp - this might be one of the hottest walls I've seen of Kenshin yo, awesome job! /end useless comment.

Amazing work! The details on the hair and the style of vectoring gives the whole piece a unique look... the intense yet soft looking vectoring gives a lovely glowing touch. Love the smoke like effect and neat bg.

Zomg yay you finished! When you first showed me your progress I squealed that it was Kenshin~~ Muahaha one of my favs. The extra stuff flying around and the sig on the sword look just like I thought you'd add! 8D Really like this color scheme of the reds, blues, purples - it really makes the fiery orange of his hair stand out. And of course your detailed and stylish vectoring of his hair is such a visual treat. *___* mmmmm! I'm glad you didn't have to resort to branding his cheek, cause the placement on the sword is more sig-like (as in forum sigs) and looks "kewler" this way, lol. (I think branding makes thieves more inclined to clone them out, so this one should stay on, hopefully!) Gonna dl on your site for the bigger versions! 8D

It's hard to describe how the colors are relate to each other in this picture, the combination is perfect, not over-saturated but not too simple, just in perfect balance, excellent work and it reminds me of old times :)

Epic Rurouni Kenshin wall XD I really like the action pose and the contrast tones between the blues and reds that defines the details on Kenshin are gorgeous.
Great job on working with no line art and the the vexelling on his hair is the highlight for me - it looks so touchable. The place of the signature is fine as long as it stops them thieves!
The zombies are a good additional touch with the night theme background. Look forward to more of your work :3 +fav

Oh my. The hair and color caught my attention instantly. I think the hair is amazingly done with nice color scheme and transparencies that blended well. The sharpness and blurred bg gave depth. Great execution/composition as always. BTW, the blur bg reminds me of your work of Ichigo way back. This made me feel nostalgic with the thought of it.
On personal note, what a coincidence. Rurouni Kenshin or it was titled as Samurai X in AXN TV was my first anime or officially the first anime I recognized. Kenshin was also my first love. ^_^

Somehow I always manage to slip a "wow" when I see your work. I still don't get it how somehow messy shapes could look so good, and I mean the hair. I'm amazed at how well fiery red can work with blue, you managed to merge them so beautifully. I like the overall lightning of the piece, it seems like a crimson night is about to start. I've always been sad at the lack of good walls in this category since I loved this series and I'm very content that AP is now richer with this wonderful addition.

The depth in this wall is amazingly well-done - Kenshin to silhouettes to fading buildings. And, the colors are simply perfect. His prominent skin and orange in his hair really pull your eyes to him, while the other factors go on the back burner in the BG as they should. I can't seem to find many words to describe how lovely this is, lol. I'll merely leave it at that and fave this wonderful piece. ;)

Awesome work on this one Jay! I love what you did with the hair. 8D It's cool how you used all those different colors to create the highlights and shading. Nice work on the background too (those zombie guys somehow kinda remind me of how the enemies looked in Samurai Jack). 8D As for the signature, i don't mind it being there. The placement actually looks pretty good and i totally understand about the whole wallpaper theft issue. Been through it recently too. :< Anyways, overall you've done some amazing vector work and great combination with the color palette. ;D

I love this wall. Kenshin looks so cool and hot. Rurouni Kenshin was one of the first anime that I ever watched too. I discovered it on Toonami and developed a crush on an anime character for the first time (Kenshin is so adorable). I really love the lighting, and his hair looks so amazing. The only thing I could do without is the zombies, I don't really care for them, but I love everything else. Fantastic job!! +fave

Suhweet. Very nice wallpaper for Kenshin.
I really like the balancing of the colors in this one, specially how it seems like cold steel for the background yet...your focus is drawn to Kenshin through the use of more... "reddish" (bloody for lack of a better word :P) colors.
Very clean cut. Like the style of the masses of enemies behind Kenshin too.

OMG! There's so much going on in this wallpaper! The hair is very nice, like there is really flowing and movement in there. I just wished the skin isn't vectored that way, more like a normal vector and shading of skin.

Rurouni Kenshin is a classic and it is pretty difficult to find a good wall of it capturing the emotion and emotion in it.
Anyway, I really like the motion effect used, as well as the placing of the blury characters, shrine and debris. It shows powerful motions which is cool. Btw, the placing of your signature on the katana is a creative idea. I like it.
Apart from the good combination of colours and bluring effects, I do notice the obvious used of red colour in kenshin's eyes. It caught my attention and it reflects the fighting spirit of kenshin without making the whole character being swallowed by the sombre bg colour.
I really like this one. Great job! A great motivation for me to continue my work on making walls of the other female characters of RK as well. ^^

Well what can i say? At last a different work of Rurouni kenshin, The first thing that come into my eyes is the hair! it looks like stained by the background itself, blended! voilet and grayish tones :r. Classic japan architecture on the bottom, in japan they not usually have too much buildings together, but i don't care, it looks good here. kenshin usually wear, well, the character is very striking, clothes, hair, eyes and his personality, even when you consider all of those aspects, you focus on one, and by a softly delightful way introduce the others, I specially like how you fade the clothes keeping the original tones. Is just A Great work to admire.
