This wallpaper was made for a second contest placer on theOtaku.com

I went for another simplistic, vector with no lines because any overtly elaborate vecter would've probably distracted the view from Sesshy's face, and it wouldn't work too well, considering the extreme closeup going on. Everything, including the blood is vectored. :)

The title of this wall is derived from Sesshoumaru's name- it can be taken to mean 'killing perfection'. It does quite suit his personality hahaha. Also, he really looks like he's in the middle of a battle with that expression... Colors have been tweaked a little, as well.

The original, and the best IMO is the 1920 x 1200, the full range of the image is revealed in it.

Love the exclusion of all the black lines from the original, that's really nice work! You made a good decision and it shows! The gradients in the eyes look a little wobbly, something to work on I guess, great work!

Overall, it's a very nice vector. I think you made a good choice to not use black outlines, especially when working on such a close up of Sesshomaru's face. I think his pupils look a bit strange, shape-wise, the curves seem a bit choppy/uneven, though I haven't seen the original scan..I would expect his pupils to have cleaner/smoother curves. I think the gradients in his eyes are fine and look pretty good. The blood on his face seems slightly out of place, almost as if randomly stuck on...so the question is, whose blood is it? If it's meant to be an enemy's then it's alright, but if it's supposed to be a wound on his face, there needs to be some sort of nick or cut drawn, right now the blood looks just thrown on top of his cheek.

I do like the idea of the words, but Sesshomaru, I would use a more edgy, brutal, barbaric (perhaps) looking font...or you could go the complete opposite way and go with a very refined, elaborate, grandiose font to match his narcissism. Either way, right now the font is very plain, too plain for Sesshomaru's personality. Also, I would experiment with font placement as right now it seems just...there, so to speak.

Overall though, awesome work, please keep it up!

Clean vector and colors in the wallpaper are really perfect. They are drawing his cynical and cold character very well.

Meta-note -- your link to the image has an extra 'double-quote' mark at the end of it that causes the link to fail. Remove the DoubleQuote at the end of the link and it works...

I've been an inuyasha fan ... well for a while - it was my first anime series...I always like Sesshourmaru.... I don't know if you saw the final episodes...but IMO, Sess grudgingly accepted Inu, and seemed to value humans more than when we first met him. He was very coldhearted when he had someone play InuYasha's mom in the first season when he was introduced as "Aristocratic Assassin, Sesshourmaru".

But he was downright 'compassionate' in comparison by the last season -- when Kagura died -- the Wind spirit/youkai...it was his rage over her death that got him a new sword... then later that season he risked his life in a big way to save Rin...

The lines are crisp, colors clear, I certainly like the increased clarity and color over the original -- good job.

Yeah...he's got a very intense look in his eyes...but killing perfection? how often did he actually kill (outside of being attacked!) Certainly toward the beginning, his tolerance for ANY interaction was much less.

Perhaps it's just me -- ...but he's so intense, to have that large of face staring you at you on your desktop top would be a little 'unnerving'...but hey, that's what the source image was...so what can ya say....though you made him larger and with the increased clarity and sharpness -- he looks more unnerving.

I have to say one thing that looked off -- the blood is out of place in multiple ways:

1) too realistic for the base picture, so it looks out of place. While you did an excellent job in integration, because there such a difference in photo technique and quality, they look like someone took a photo of blood and after extracting it, just stuck it on an anime face!

2) too realistic for the subject matter -- never saw blood look close to realistic in InuYasha. More often than not, was a purplish-lav color like some magical fluid...

3) Unlikely for him to have something like that on his face. He seemed almost never get dirty -- even in battle, let alone splattered w/blood.

So...had a few issues w/content integration, but overall, the artwork looks great.

(p.s. don't forget to fix the link)...

This is a very nice vector. Very well done.

I'mma agree with the others and say that the exclusion of black lines was definitely the way to go with this, however, and maybe this is just me, some of the black lines that you included just kinda feel odd. I realize you're going to have to draw in his eyebrows and stuff, but in some places, it felt like you could have left them out. For some reason, even though taking it out would be even weirder, the line that separates his chin from his neck seems a bit odd for some reason. Its not that there's anything actually wrong with it, it's done correctly, but I dunno, I think a darker skintone color might have worked a bit better in this instance, to match the feel.

Next thing I'd like to focus on is the eyes. You did them really well, but the gradient just doesn't fit the feel of this vector... IMO, I think something that's a bit flatter would work, so it'll match the rest of the vector's style, through and through.

Last thing I gotta say is, the outerglow around the text feels a bit unnecessary. You can see the text on this wallpaper just fine without it, and it really just doesn't fit the feel of this wallpaper in general.

:X IDK I guess that's just me. Good work.
