I should begin by saying that the original idea isn't mine, I guess you could call it my version of AssasinXXX's wallpaper Rapture. So credits to him. It can be found here: http://www.animepaper.net/art/195946/rapture.As I'm quite new to walling I don't feel confident enough to make my own vectors, so i cropped this one out from: http://www.animepaper.net/art/133862/headphones.
Having this said, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did creating it. Feel free to leave comments and advice on how I can improve it.
Credits to Rise Against for awesome lyrics. PS. I hope AssasinXXX approve of this and good job on an awesome wallpaper.

good idea, solid concept, but the execution is lacking.
the reason assasin's wall is so appealing is because if his bold use of colors, and crisp imagery. this could really use vectoring, and livened up a lot. it's just too dark, under-saturated, and quite frankly dull.
if you had planned on making it look like she is supposed to be sitting on the line, you need to actually make the line affected by her and her by it. right now it's just one image pasted over another.
learn to vector, and come back to this when you've built a skill set.

Thank you for you comment, however I didn't aim to make it colorful with a protruding color. But I have to admit the fact that it's too dark, some more light wouldn't hurt. And yeah, it looks a little dull, and I should try to make it look more alive. Currently it got quite a stone-ish look, but hey that some charm on it's own. (maybe that's just me) So guess I'll will be working on a brighter version in the near future, I still got lots to learn about walling. //Haxez~

First of all, I just have to say that I'm not a waller and what I say may not be the same as everybody elses (and a lot less accurate >___>). I agree with damoser. The whole wallpaper just seems to be one dimension. The colours, to be blunt, are flat. Also, the typography is nothing very interesting and seemingly generic to me. It doesn't seem like there's a focal point, or certain direction you want to go with this wallpaper.
AssasinXXX's walls uses bold colours, and crisp vectors and lines. I'm not saying that you should be making a copy of his work, but everything did not seem to work together; the texture, image, colours, and manipulation seem to be separate things on their own for me.
This brings me to the point that you have to take risks during the creation process. The whole wallpaper just screams "safe!" and I know it's mostly because you're quite new, but taking risks is a huge factor sometimes. You never know, sometimes those risks you take end up working. Play around with your wallpapers more, and get comfortable. Discover something that works for you and go for it.

Thank you for taking you're time to look through my wall, and of course I know that you don't want me to copy AssasinXXX's work. Your comment's are aimed to help me improve and evolve as a waller.
And yeah, I also get the feeling that my wall is kinda flat and might need some more depth, and the statement that I played safe making this is right. I first had the idea of making the background resemble a cd/old LP, didn't turn out that way tho.
However I have to disagree with you're statement that the typography is boring, but still this is a matter of personal opinion
I will take you're advice into consideration in my future projects :)

I always love wallpaper with girls wearing headphones ^_^ I think you did a good job even though you are new to making wallpapers. Can't expect everyone to like it as well. But I will +fav it since I like it. You can always do different revision testing other colors etc..Hope to see more from you (:

Thank you for your kind comment.
Was fun to see something positive :). And even tho it got quite many flaws, I'm still proud over it.
We always start out as a beginner, so both negative and positive criticism are needed to improve.
I'm glad you liked it, and I'm quite a fan of girls wearing headphones as well (A)
I will continue to work hard :)

Adding to what damoser said, AssasinXXX's typography have all sorts of different fonts, font styles, sizes, colors, and placement, so you might want to play around with that because it's a huge element in his wallpapers. Also, I think removing the big block of text in the top right would be an easy improvement; you could try to use the text elsewhere, for example you could make extra shapes that run parallel to the diagonal shapes already there, and then use the text parallel to that. Also, I think it might look better without the texture on the girl, especially the skin (that's probably just a matter of taste though). Really awesome that you're reading and responding to comments, I can't remember anyone new doing that lately. I'll definitely be watching for your next submission

Thank you for commenting.
I'm definitely going to experiment more with shape's and positions in the future.
About the girl, I had a quite hard time to decide whether or not to place her under or above the texture, having her under like this made the overall a little too dark.
Good thing people got different opinions and can learn from each other :)

Very well done. But I think the background is opaque to the character.I think with the a whiter background would look better.Just my point of view hehe ;)

The chances of me loging in after months and seeing this in the front page...I dunno I suck at maths but thought I'd leave a comment. Caught my eyes for two reason. It's the only typographic wallpaper on the front page atm and it reminded me of the time I used to make wallpapers on a regular basis.
I remember when I just started to wall. Not gonna lie it was scary and frustrating. Scary because there were some godly people here at AP and seeing there work on the front page and knowing that was the kind of quality work I would have to produce in order for my wallpaper to be accepted was well, scary.
But I was determined, back then the only thought in my head was that I had to get my wallpaper accepted in the main page. It didn't of course, and after 3 or 4 rejections and with -400 papers I had to rethink what I was doing.
Once I did get my first wall to infiltrate the front page of AP my focus shifted entirely. It wasn't about creating wallpapers with just enough quality to get it accepted but making a wallpaper better than my last and doing something that I had fun with. And pretty soon I found what it was.
And you will too, you just have to keep at it and strive for improvement. Believe in your ability and work within them. But also expand and try new things every now and then. For your first wallpaper you did a great job.
The placement for your type is looking good but it could use some refinement. I used to play with the position of the type for hours till I found the perfect spot for them. Vectoring can be a tidious task, but the freedom and stability it gives you is well worth it.
I am sorry to leave such an essay of a comment but I hope it helped in some way.
Really nice start, have confidence in your work and don't back away from a challenge and try new things.

Awesome comment here, thanks for that Assa. Nice to see our more senior wallers encouraging new ones.

Thank you very much for this encouraging comment.
I'm not really the guy who you will notice in a big crowd, and I easily get nervous when others are about to see my work. So naturally it was quite hard to upload something, but after giving it a lot of thought I finally decided to give it a go.
And I do not regret doing it. I was really happy to see it get accepted and that people comment it, of course it can be hard to see negative comments in the beginning, but they aren't there to hurt you but to help you instead.
I'm really glad you got to see it, and even better you left a comment as well :)
I will continue to work hard and improve.

Haxez - I agree with Assas' comments, very nice start, the rest comes through trial and error, listening to the advice given to you and seeing what works for you. We all start from fresh, not really knowing what we're doing and it can be daunting when you look at the professional quality walls that are hosted here on AP, but instead of looking at them and feeling inadequate and overwhelmed, use them as inspiration, something to aspire to. With hard work, love for what you're doing and effort, you will get there. I look forward to seeing you improve.

Thank you, I put quite much effort into making it, however it still got many flaws, but I'm glad you like it.
I can't really take any credit for the character since I didn't vector her.

Very good for a first attempt. :) You know what I think you should try? I think you should make the light-hitting areas of the girl bright white so it appears she was rendered on toned paper (and to help pop her out a bit). You have a radial gradient right there too, so parts of the gray stripes can also be lighter right around the center of your gradient, and darken the stripes right below her bum too to suggest a shadow. The paragraph placement of text in the upper right corner is kinda distracting because it takes attention away from the girl. I would suggest moving it behind her head/corner where the stripes bend area. Put it on the bottom layers, and perhaps lighten its opacity as well if it appears too strong. It doesn't really matter if we can read all the words or not, because blocks of text should be treated as design elements instead. Overall good job and keep walling - you'll continue to improve! :)
