My greatest masterpiece by far! I seriously think I'm going to cry. -laughs a little-
All right, so one of my favorite shows right now is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I'm not particularly fond of magical girl anime, but after having it suggested to me by several of my friends, I decided to have a look-see. After watching the show, I instantly fell in love. Don't let the cute outfits and characters fool you into thinking that this is ANYTHING like your typical magical girl anime. If you're a fan of anime that feature cute girls thrown into scenarios that screw with your head (ie, Higurashi/Umineko fans), then I say you give this anime a go.
The inspiration for this wallpaper was several different things. One being that this is actually a Christmas present for a friend of mine who loves the anime as much as I do. I haven't shown it to him yet, but I hope he likes it just the same. The other inspiration was the song, "Desert Rose," by Sting. I've seen lots of group pictures of the Magica girls in darker settings with the checker print tiling and I wanted to go with something more rustic and sandy. When I heard "Desert Rose" come on while listening to my Zune on shuffle, the idea hit me like a ten-ton bulldozer. XD
Anyway, that's about it. I really hope everyone likes it as much as I loved working on it. Image credit for the Magica girls goes to Konachan.com.

Good work Pai-chan! It's always good to see more Madoka walls...and this is a good one. I like how you picked a theme, like an idea from your head and just stuck to it! Sometimes I get an idea but then I have no idea what to do to make it work as a wallpaper, so I am glad you were able to do so!

Awww! Thanks for saying so, Acid! And yes, I agree - more Madoka walls should be made. And will be! I plan on making some character walls in the future. And as for the inspiration, I couldn't just let it go. My mind doesn't allow me to have such a great idea waltz by and not latch onto it. No matter how long it takes, I'm determined to get it done! really cool typography and i love that you didn't put the girls in the center it's a really cool feel overall very grungy almost, love the industrial stuff. yeah this is your best wall so far!

Thank you for the comments! I tried to go with a particular theme and I'm never really a huge fan of having the main group of characters directly in the center of the wallpaper. I want the subjects to be the focus, but at the same time, NOT be the focus of the design. I was also going for a more dirty/grungy feel, especially since the characters are usually thrown into a very cutesy/adorable setting with other wallpapers I've seen on other sites. I plan on doing character sets with darker elements for my future walls. Again, thank you so much for the comments! I also agree that this is my best wall so far!

Nice media mix on this! I don't see wallpapers often anymore that use photos and anime art, but I've always liked the style. The desolate setting, and dust stirring look really great, and the little sparkles bring us back to the anime style. Beautifully done! :D

Thank you so much! I've tried it once before on my Soul Eater wallpaper and didn't pull it off quite as well. But with this one, I was very happy with how it turned out. And your notation of the sparkles bringing the wallpaper viewer back into the anime style was actually something that I hadn't really thought of, but I guess it was a subconscious element I decided to add in. Thank you for taking notice and I hope to continue to do better in the future.

I like how you have all the characters even the ones that died early. The location of the background is also very good and revelant to the show.

Yeah, I thought it only fitting to have all the magical girls from the anime be in the wallpaper since I'm not doing actual character focuses at the moment. The background and style was also very important to me since I didn't want it to be especially dark in the predictable way; but dark in a dustier and grungier sort of way.

I think the texture on the background is just very slightly too much. But that's just my own personal opinion. Otherwise I think this is a very nicely put together wallpaper featuring all the characters... which I love. :) Great job! :)
