Ayanami's Got a Gun

It looks really good in full view, the quality of the sharding/reflections really make it! Typography is really awesome with it all sliced up, feels like a quality extra touch! It's really cool looking to top it off!

Dis wall...

Lately I felt like starting on a wall that has shattered or cracked glass. My main inspiration was from Inori ep 16. The concept of having an image being refracted different directions and having it appear like puzzle pieces is so interesting. This wall becomes very attractive to me because it's simple, utilization of dark greys instead of pure black, and composition. Everything is rendered in very simple gradients which is relieving for the eyes and continues the simplistic theme. The values help distinguish depth and light source (ie: gun). This wall is very basic but does it right. I've also been experimenting with grayscale and found dark greys to become very attractive. They are not painfully contrasting like pure black on pure white and since the color is closer to white it sort of help blends. The deep dark red you used is very rich and delicious. At the same time it breaks up the staleness that naturally comes with grayscale.

Composition is something I like very much. It takes up the entire canvas. There's enough space for the eyes to rest and there's another "stuff" to keep interesting. My eyes immediately go to Rei and follows the typography like a a river of blood to the gun which leads my eyes upward toward the resting area. Now that I look at the typography it reminds me of the "Back to the Future" logo lol. At first I though it was a Def Leppard reference but realized it was Aerosmith once I read the description again. Damn gun lyrics!

Gun feels like plastic. I know I've had this problem with one of my walls. Some possible fixes are to add some texture, more shiny, and darker shadows in the grooves to make it feel more realistic instead of some plastic toy. But I think if you did any of those it would make it stand out too much. Well maybe if you just did bold shadows it won't add too much shading. Adding white streaks might make the glass next to he head feel more glassy.

Very good wallpaper. The only problem is that the the gun looks like a water gun made from plastic. But, if I put aside that, it's very well done.

Wow, you're on fire. The Asuka one was great, but I think you're even better when you go for more relaxing colours etc. Very good vector as always, pretty colour choice, amazing typography and the "shattered" effect is subtle, yet effective.

Now I have to change my desktop again.

Wow _ ! I haven't seen a good wall of Evangelion for a while! Thanks for sharing this ! The Ayanami Vector is the Best! High quality! The concept of the wallpaper is very interesting: a broken mirror, fractures etc. But i don't know if the fracture on Rei's head is appropriate....I mean it breaks the image and so ruin the overall quality. Other fractures is fine.

Her hair is really beautiful and I love its smoothness! She looks really cute! I love her eyes! They look really sinister and despite her cute appearance, her eyes make her look like she will kill you XD

I really like her gun and how the entire piece looks fragmented and disjointed, its really cool and it brings out its techiness! I also like that part where there's a piece of 'mirror' that reflects her eyes!

In my opinion black/white/red is a great combination! ^^ Mostly because they go really well together and it brings out a focal point, making the vivid parts even more noticeable!

Wow. This is actually pretty cool. I love it more than your previous Asuka wall submission. :D The broken/shattered glass effect really brings the whole wall together. I love the subtle use of gradients here and there. Making it monochrome with just a hint of color is really nice to look at. Typography is blending beautifully. Other than that, everything is clean, crisp, and smooth overall. Nice job! It's nice to see some walls from you again. :D I hope I can do one too----maybe------sometime----------some day. LOL. XD

For me, though the entire wall looks simple at first glance, looking at it as a whole makes it more and more complex. The shattered glass effect is a nice touch, especially if the viewer knows what kind of fragmented person Rei is. On the technical side, I personally would think hard just to execute the effect you just did. The use of gradients in her hair and shadows are subtle but adds life to the wall. The red text and those mesmerizing red eyes are something that gives the dullness of the grayscale painting a touch of vibrance, of urgency. I sure would like to know more about typolography and such, but in the mean time, let me stop and give you my vote of confidence.

The coclourcombination is cool. I like they colour tones...different hues of grey managed to highlight the red coloured eyes and the blood. Good use of fragmented concept, with the placing of the wordings.

Simple bg and clean vector as always. Without the use of tons of textures and brushing, a wall can still be great.

I like the colors as they give off a feeling that is somewhat characteristic of Rei if I recall. The fragmented glass shards is also nice.
