Hi there everyone, yush Vampy is back with a new wall!! Woot! So, it's not anything too complicated or fancy with the vectoring, simple but with statement.
This was inspired by a screenshot I took during the first episode of the awesome new Anime 'Dusk Maiden of Amnesia', or 'Tasogare no Otome x Amnesia'.

I read the manga in it's entirety lastnight and was immediately enthralled, then downloaded the first three episodes of the Anime and was inspired! The main character Yuuko-san is a brilliant character (I won't spoil for any of you =P ) and I really fel like I could make a pretty cool wall with just the gorgeous eye I screenshot to portray her pain and loneliness that she had hidden away. Ok, be kind... I NEVER use text in my walls because honestly I rather suck at it. But I took a chance in that this isn't overt, the text is rather subtle but has meaning. It's a piece of short prose I wrote from Yuuko's point of view, imagining her musing to herself in the dark on those long cold nights before she met Teiichi.
So, I hope you like it, I'm rather happy with how it turned out and I love the colours =D Constructive comments and feedback is always appreciated.

I like how you vectored the eye. The colours and the tear drops are beautiful. Plus, I like the motives used for the bg. They are beautiful.
Using typography or fonts for the bg can be tricky. I can't master it well yet to be honest. lolz. Anyway, I like the choice of font used in this wallie. It is beautiful. =3
Perhaps you can use different opacity for each lines as well as place them randonly with different sizes and gaps to show some layering effect. Bringing the layer of the eye and the black floral design forward can be a way to emphasize the beautiful eye without being distracted by the wordings.

Thanks for your support as always Ree -hugs- Yeah, typography isn't easy. Honestly I was stumped other than just choosing the font. Plus it wasn't a wall I worked on for a long time so I probably could have done more with it, so looks like there'll be a revision coming up xD Thanks for the suggestions and your awesome comments =3

cool flowery flourishes in the bg, the text is really cool too i dont do enough text work, gotta try it again! last time i tried to put text over something i got bashed LOL, okay great wall! i need to learn to vector like that!!

the trick to using typography is to treat it as an image instead of as text. Rasterise them if you're using photoshop so they would be easier to handle ;)
composition wise this is hard for me to handle. there's no sense of layout, use the grid system as your guide.

The typography doesn't work too well for me. XD
Hmmm... Maybe if you put the typography in the WHOLE wall----even though it repeats, it would be nice. Also, typing them in different sizes would compliment the overall mood of the wall. I can't explain myself very much. LOL. Just take a look at my xxxHolic wall to get what I'm trying to say. XD

The overall result of this wallpaper is quite appealing and the eye is really captivating. However, there are a couple of issues I'd like to point out. While the eye is vectored quite beautifully, I would prefer if it had a higher level of detail. It being the only real focus of the wallpaper means greater expectations in terms of quality (not that it's lacking any) and complexity. Now the typography (I'm sorry, it just had to come)... it just doesn't seem to add to the wallpaper rather it takes away. The endless lines of text which cover the whole wallpaper feels redundant (especially with all of it being the same font, size, colour and left aligned). Variations [in size and position] would make the typography a lot more appealing. Also, the typography overlapping the eye takes away from the main focus. Personally, I would've preferred it being behind eye; the tears are in front of the typography, so why shouldn't the eye be too? (...and I'm sorry but I couldn't help but compare your wallpaper to this =S).
I'm sorry if I came off being too critical and all of this is just my opinion. But overall, I still think the eye is beautifully done.
Any chance of a text-less version? =3

Hi there Vestigel, Wow, great comment and thanks for the awesome feedback. I always enjoy reading comments like yours because it shows that you've taken the time to really look at my work. I took a look at the wall you linked as reference and my first thought was Wow, waaaaay above my skill level. But then I took a longer and closer look at it and realised... hey actually No, it isn't! It would have just required me to have spent more time and attention to detail on this one than the few hours that I did give it. Honestly this wall was just a quick one to get my vectoring motivation back up as I was in a bit of a slump. But it has inspired me, so I hope you will take another look when I submit the new revision when I finish. This time I will give it the attention it deserves. So thankyou for your feedback, much appreciated.

I like the vector, you did very well, as the background, but the composition with the text is ... I do not think it fits well, the result is forced, I would recommend changing it, but not ignore, it goes well with the image in context, keep it up!
