EDIT: as you can see, there are several 'revisions' now, but they are all only about Syaoran's hair color. I received quite a lot of complaining about it on deviantart, since it seems like most people are used to the dark brown of the tv series, so I made variations. The darkest one is obviously the anime version, the 2 others are different shades from more manga pictures by Clamp (the 1st version I uploaded is also from manga illustrations), I really just use the eyedropper tool and make slight changes for them to fit better together, I didn't invent anything.
This is a very late birthday present to one of my dearest friend, amesthyst-rose! ^^
A first, I thought: "well, I just have to find the right faces for them and cut/past!"....not. How naive I was ;_; Finding the right pics was hard, and since nothing satisfied me completely, I ended up combining several scans and redrawing the parts I wasn't happy with. The one who underwent the heaviest vectoring is Tomoyo: her eyes shape are actually from a TRC|Sakura scans, her hair is a mix of my redrawing and the K-on! character scan, her face is my redrawing too. (the others characters were easier since I found better scans for them and adjusted them accordingly). Tomoyo's camcorder is from TRC too~ I also made a pairing item between her and Sakura in the form of the hair accessories.
Making Syaoran pants was a bit more tricky than expected? But the most boring thing was drawing the pattern ugh...
The cakes and pastries, again, my naive self thought that extracting and reconstructing the missing parts would be just fine but it ended up being a real chore ouch! >.< That part took a while.
I personally like how relaxed Eriol looks, like a cat! Loving Syaoran confident looks, he is neither sulking or blushing yey! XD I slipped a brush in the BG with a star/moon theme (top right corner), unfortunately, the winged star was buried under Eriol's feet. Oh! and I had no intention at all to make a EriolxTomoyo pairing here, I just wanted for SxS to be side by side, and by following the original scans they just naturally ended up in this position, that said you are free to interpret it however you want ;)
I will seriously start saving for a tablet though, I don't think I can go any further than this with a mouse.

I really really like the idea, 'though some of the manipulation look a bit forced. The cake in Sakura's hand mainly. The overall looks pretty good 'though, I specially like the english flag full of colours and textures :)

The first one I think has a very magical fairy kind of feeling with the sparkling water in the sunset like light. The kimono and obi are simply precious and delicate and very distinguished. The second revision is more mystical in a night feeling, it has more mystery and a more vampire romantic aura about it. The moon in the background is very nice too.
The lighting in this one is less dashing than the first one but non the less very well done. Vectoring and composition are pretty classical but technically flawless. In the second one I would suggest doing something darker behind the white decorations on the kimono in order for them to be easier to spot. In that light the detail gets lost in the whole.
I just realized that the reflection of the moon makes her look like she is getting out from the water. Maybe darken that part of the background or remove the moon would help undo this effect if it was not a desired one. Two thumbs up anyways!

I personally like the anime version the best since its the first one I ever saw when i was a kid, so I guess it stuck with me!
Anyways moving on, a lot going on in this wallpaper and its all sweet and colorfully fantastic! You did fantastic on the character placement and design in my opinion, and I don't know about the rest of the people here, but I personally like how you paired them off. -totally ships SxS and ExT- Ahh I'm being fan-ish!
Anyways, I love this wallpaper, it looks great and its a nice blast from the past for me since this was my first anime series and probably one of my favorites still. Hope your friend loved this as much as I did!
