ok, this is nice, i see what ur aiming for, but i think it still needs more work, so here goes!

1. i think to make near fit in with the checkered flooring, you should give him a shadow on the floor, to help the scan to belong with the background.

2. on the flooring i dont think blur is needed, maybe a bit of focus blur at the far ends of the floor, like you have there, but nothing too strong like you have there, just a bit to draw the focus to the middle rather than the edges.

3. ok, im no good with typography but i think i may have some advice that might help^^ ok so here goes! right now, the way the text is flat on the image, personally i think it destroys the wall, i think you should align the test to fit in with the flooring, like someone wrote it on there, play with the perspective and wrap n the like^^ i think if you play more with the text, like trying out different fonts n text size, u'll find something more to you liking^^

Soft shadow covering the wallpaper is really calm and romantic.

the concept itself is not bad but execution can be improved immensely.

1. Not sure what type of blurr you applied to the ground, but I think for the far away effect, gaussian blur's the best.

2. The shadow on near, I'm assuming you added gradient over it to create a shadowy effect, I'm not sure if you overlayed it or not, however right now it doesn't look like a natural shadow. Try setting the dark tones on different overlaying settings, heck go through the whole list on photoshop until you find one that look like a normal shadow. Also with those type of effects, it might work better if you use a navy instead of black. or even a brown if your going for a warmer colour

3. like kopykat said shadows on the ground would help a lot.

4. the position of near, too close to the top, empty space in the bottom with no real purpose. moving it down would help

5. the text, the way it's used is not fitting. try different font styles, use things like italics, I'm fine with the glow effect for this piece. Don't line to 2 lines up exactly, maybe have a few spaces infront of the second line. Move text to more bottom and right a little more. It could be larger.

that's about all for now, also next time try working with a higher resolution, it's always better to size it down from a larger size if the quality's not desirable, and hardly anyone have 1024x768 monitors anymore ^^
