This is my first vector. I decided to make this image as there was a lack of Ride Back art available on this site. The vector was taken from a scan of a panned shot in the first episode.
this is the imaged which I vectored from http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5603/scanoa.png
Keep in mind this is my first attempt at vectoring and my first time in illustrator with time I plan on practising how to make my lines neater my gradients smoother and details improved. This image may get a revision 2 depending on how many people want it.

First thing, congrats for submitting your first vector :P
Second thing, as you can guess, it could be better, and that actually in the very basics. The coloring itself is the quite fair one - though with this low contrast/brightness it can be used in wallpapers, which have a darker style (scenic) or have a similar low contrast/brightness coloring(abstract) So the main problem of this vector, and what you should pay attention & practice, are the outlines. The difference in the outlines is a way too big, too thick or too thin and on many places also unlogical. Of course, uniform outlines with the same thickness aren't good either, because they often remind stroking, but by this one it goes overboard with the difference, changing size even by 10x. Plus the differently colored outlines often flow into each other, I don't get actually why you didn't used black outlines for everything, this isn't a colorful bright vector to begin with. To this I would also like to add a basic fact from my own experience, in the case that you submit a PNG format vector, is crazy to upload something of this size, I see almost 9000 pixels of height here. In the case that somebody will decide to make a wallpaper from it, lowering to the size of a wallpaper, which are rarely above 1600 pixels height, the mentioned thin outlines will completly dissappear.
Not at least, take some tome to write a proper description, something like "My first Vector" is a bit rude towards the people, who will take their precious time to write a constructive comment and trying to help you with. As you can see, my comment is multiple times the size of yours, and thats not about that I like to make long stories here.

Congrats on your first Vector, great to see new vectorers here.
Firstly in my comments however, I need to point out that when you submit a vector you are asked to fill in the 'Author Comments'. What that's there for is for you to describe what you did with the piece you are submitting. For example " Hi everyone, well this is my first vector and it's Rin Ogata from Ride Back. I chose this scan (link your scan here so we can see the image you used for your vector) for xxxxx reasons. I chose to (keep to the scan style) or (decided to try vectoring it with different colours) etc... You can also mention how long it took you to vector, if you had trouble with certain parts... tell us about it, it helps us as artists and art appreciators to comment and give you feedback. Just saying 'My First Vector' gives us nothing really, other than the obvious.
Secondly, your resolution. As Akiranyo has already stated, there is no need to upload your vector at such a huge size. It's great that you are vectoring at a large resolution, it enables you to get finer details looking much cleaner when the image is resized down. But you need to understand how long an image of that size will take to download for the regular user who doesn't have awesome internet speeds or great bandwidth. Halve the size this was submitted as and it would be ideal for most wallers.
Ok, as for the vector itself, well done for your first effort. I see no colour leaks or white spots as I would expect to see on a beginners vector, and your colouring is clean and neat. Though your lineart needs attention, but this comes with experience and practice. As Akiranyo mentioned, the varying thickness gets a little extreme in places, especially when it thins out to the point that it almost disappears, which you will notice much more when the image is resized down for wall use. The bust part of her dress is the most noticeable example of this, though there are several areas this occurs. The other point I need to make in regards to lineart is overlapping; be careful that you have the lines crossing on the correct layering. For example; the darker shading on her face in the chin / neck area overlays the lineart whereas it should be on the layer underneath the lineart, with the lines over the shadowing darkened to suit the fact that they are in shadow. It's little things like this that will make a big difference, especially when you are using coloured lines. As you get more experience I'm sure you'll pick up more techniques that will improve your skills, but the best way to do that is to listen to those who are willing to share their knowledge with you in an effort to help you improve, that is why we comment after all.
Good luck with future vectors.
