i finished a new wall!
I was waiting to get my hands on a scan of Kanbaru (I love her ^^ <3 <3) So, one day, I managed to find this scan by Miwa Shirow. However, at the beginning, I was reluctant to wall this because I didn’t like the angle of the picture and the character’s mouth. Yeah. I have to agree that Miwa Shirow has a distinctive style. XD But, after thinking for some time, I decided to start this project .
Step 1:
First of all, I wanted to change the angle of the scan as I didn’t like the one of the original. So, I rotated the image and extended the character to fill in the missing parts, like the books, elbow, etc. in the end I decided to not change the character face, because it's the style of the artist, and i respect him.
Step 2:
I also got rid of the monotonous black and white background. Yes, I know that the show has simple shapes and gradients for some of its background , but copying the image with a 100% precision is not my style. Really, things like that bores me… To make things fun and challenging, I like to add some spices in my art =P So, I needed to create a new background from scratch as I know that I won’t be satisfied with my work at the end of the day. For the new background, I kept the idea of the design, such as the Japanese doors, as well as the naked scene of nisemonogatari. The other day, I was with a friend (thanks, Abi. I really had fun that day and I appreciate your help, when we worked in the BG, we are a good team ^_-). For the new interesting perspective, I wanted to draw the doors which left a gap opened to add some scenic background, like the ceiling of the veranda, trees, sky and a pretty Fu Rin (for that, I have to thank Reesha, my luv for helping me with the Japanese kanji twice – for the words of the Fu Rin (wind chime) and the another one for the basketball jersey). I wanted more movement and craziness in the wall in order to make it special. Thus, I added fallen books and basketball jersey. Instead of the blanket which I added initially ( that one was hideous , Thanks to Eric for telling me). I added the barricade tapes in front of the character ( it was blurred to create depth). I had all these ideas after re-watching the show.

Hahaha, great work as always my friend. I'm glad I was able to have some say in the production process, it makes me feel like I was a small part in making this. Anyways, everything turned out really well, the Jersey is definitely 100x better. I thought maybe the white doors would look a bit plain but it looks totally natural in there. Kanbaru of course looks amazing, the character is one part you would never have a hiccup on...always perfect. Like Bantam, I'm still not totally sold on the out of focus caution tape, but it's certainly not bad. I think being totally in focus might not work either but perhaps if the blur were a little less strong? Well it's no big deal, it actually looks fine when you set it as a wallpaper anyways. Not much more to say, its another masterpiece. Keep up the good fight!

My eyes are bleeding! It's not because you're a great vector maker (I really admire your style) that you can wall each scan you find! You totally killed the great sensation that we all have when we enjoy Miwa Shirow's art! Miwa never uses hot colors, he never make shiny eyes and shy faces! And finally you'e not forced to add these "white" circles everywhere on her body, it's sure it would look better on another girl, but not this one! Don't feel angry about my comment, I just feel heart broken after seeing this, it's like eating chocolate+fish, 2 delicious tastes, but you can't mix them! Unfortunately, this is what you did! We All Have Different Tastes, i respect that, in this case you are following a name behind the lineart (of course because he did it), but for me this was a lineart of one character i like (yes a bunch of lines all together), I have my own style painting/walling/etc., so my main goal is doing a work i like in my style, i'm not looking to be a shirow 2, or toriyama 2 or clamp 2, etc.etc..
My main goal is to share my art with the community , some will hate , some will love it =) and you say:
"Don't feel angry about my comment," clearly i don't see in what helps me this comment to improve, i only see "hey don't touch my artist work and don't do what u want." honestly i only see an angry fanboy.

Um... this seems to be a pretty harsh comment based on the fact that your comment seems to basically that Isshi didn't stick to the artists own style... If that's the case then the same could be said of my vectors, I too change things, adding extra details but mostly changing colours and vectoring in my own style. I think the same could be said of a lot of our artists here on AP. If the whole point of vectoring was to stick to the scan and not deviate from it, then I don't think I'd enjoy it quite as much as I do. Again, I feel your comment sounds pretty harsh considering the amazing work Isshi has done, and the fact that there doesn't seem to be any constructive comments added in to offset your obvious unhappiness with this wall. =/

@Vampy: My comment is based on my opinion, whatever I do like the wallpaper or not... It's not the editing that bothers me here, it's how inappropriate it was, so don't feel targeted with my comment. I also said and still believe that Isshi got a great and impressive talent, but this doesn't mean that she always make the perfect wallpaper. Anyway, we still see only one style from her: Colorful naked girls + Big perspectives and I really want to see more from her. Making vectors means always adding a personal touch to the scan, I haven't asked Isshi to copy the same style as Miwa Shirow, but at least to keep that dark atmosphere of the character. And finally, I am the only one that can judge if my comment should be constructive or not and it was addressed to Isshi, thanks to her because she was nicer when replying me.

Wow Isshi my friend... what can I say other than "You've done it Again!" ..!?
I absolutely love the colouring in this one, you always use colours to their utmost, but this one really sings colour wise for me. You've taken a cool but rather dull scan and given it life and feeling. The rotation of the image and extension is amazing, your work as usual practically flawless!! I love the fun feel you've given it with the signs and the caution tape, and the falling books. The lighting in this wall is superb, I honestly can't phrase it better than that. The glimpse of the scenery through the open doors is the lift that the wall really needed to bring it from great to Sublime in my opinion. As usual you have an amazing eye for details. By the way I love the little Fu Rin, it's beautiful and really does look like it's made of blown glass <3
On a side note, I think the blur on the nearest bit of tape is a great idea, though it seems as though either it should be less blurred due to it being the same width as the other pieces of tape, or wider to denote the fact that it's closer to the viewer with the heavier blurring. In perspective the closer tape would look wider / larger than the tape that is further away.
But I really do love your work Isshi, it inspires me to push myself to do better, so congrats on another Awesome wall!!

To tell truth I usually aren't too keen on papers wuth this much stuff in them... but it is room of Kambaru after all =) so I think it's kinda needet. I do have to say though no matter my personal preference of simplicity it's dahm impressive work of art and I really do like it. Chance of POW is done really well and I do allso think yours is better than original. Hair is done really nicely and I really like your references on anime and it's style.
Over all I'm really impressed by your work and thank you for this wallpaper. I'm really looking forward to see more from you.

You really did it! Not long ago when you have shown me the first sketches and is already done. Not only that you are a good artist, but you can also a good willpower to do it right on spot, wishing I had that (my new computer + games make me quite lazy) And your high contrast color works, full of details are the inspiration to not have any icon on the desktop! The title was a good choice. Sometimes I find myself ina quite pinch to thinking out a suitable title for my wallpaper and makes my head more dizzy as walling the whole day. By the way - if her right hand would be hidden under the book, I would really wonder what you would mean with that "Time for Myself"........... And with that case to the style of Miwa Shirow, I need to defend you, cause the scans there serve as mere sources, the artists are free to add their very own touch to it, and I like this version much more as the original. Also I hate those weird angle rotated scans, always remind me Visual Novels, so your angle is much more better (just as I did by my Astraea too :P) Guess about the other details, like the exterior, the wind bell and the trespassing tapes, I don't need to write a whole book - good job, as always.
And once again you made a outstanding piece my friend, which I'm pretty sure about will get a SSS rank faster as the wind. And then you can face again into the mirror and say it like Duke Nukem does - DAMN, I'M GOOD......

Your walls are usually not my type of walls, since I prefer simple walls that do not require too much work of the eye (the holy one xD). However, this wall is awesomeingly awesome, as you went through every single detail and made it perfect, and went through every single object and placed it right. The only three minor things that I found are in the vector, her left knee and left breast and her mouth are just a little distorted, I think, and the sign at the back, which has a shadow too strong, considering the sun coming from the back of the woodish-paperish door (whatever it's called lol). The third and most major (but still minor) mistake is the left sign, which you should've done with a more "sophisticated" font or japanese Kanji since the current font looks too simplistic for the overall of the wall. It takes many words to describe them, but those are very minor mistakes. With that said, don't stop making walls. Ever :3

I fell in love with this wallie after I've seen the colours. Bright, vibrant and lively. Plus, I like the modification made for the perspective and character. Beautiful and original, with the good use of the elements found in the anime. The character is more alive as compared to the original scan and what I like about it is the eyes. The shines make it full of life and the gradient of the hair is beautiful.
Yummy vector aside, I like the bluring effect used for the books to create dynamics and the bluring of the caution tape to create depths. You really look into the details when making all the walls which deserves a salute from me. My fav part of this wall would be the Fu Rin. I like the design. It is beautiful and delicate which shows that you do not ignore the details of it eventhough it plays a minor part in the wall. Make a Fu Rin for me, isshi! <3
Hmmm....there is no right or wrong when it comes to a person's preference for art and the artist is free to create his or her own style once they manage to give credit to the original artist who created the character. Anyway, this wall is about fun and colours. Plus, walling is all about being creative and I see nothing wrong when it comes to adding stuff to make it more beautiful and appealing. So, why take it that seriously?

It's nice looking you put together here, Isshi. I have a few stuff to point out though.
The first ones are a few defects / colour leaks / oopsy daisies / whatever (circle the right one. There is the two red sharps coming from the books and going over the yellow caution tape. It's located at the bottom and vertically right under the girl's eyes. There is other parts looking like colour leaks but they might just be lighting.
The cast shadow of the caution sign on the left has a weird hole in it which might be from the white circle on the sign except that it isn't round.
The edge of the book on the left vertically right over the jacket is kinda funky looking.
The perspective of the falling book vertically right over the caution sign seems a little weird. I think it would have been nice since you built your wall with a 2points perspective and using ruled lines that the books had the same treatments. I know it can be complicated to do 2 points perspective for out of alignment objects but I think it would be worth it.
It's quite hard to see on your making of but from your building lines and the result on the wallpaper, the roof of the "outdoor alley" is kinda thin. That is, the paper panels with the tree patterns are too low.
The shadows on the pages of the books should be a little brighter. The books would be less "uniform" that way perhaps.

I'm a fan of Miwa Shirow and I can't help but agree with @Aladdin. All those colors are just not "him". My fav artist is known to parody great work of art so it's not really a big deal to change the look from the original. In the end I decided this is isshi's rendition (hope i use this word correctly) of Miwa's work. Though it couldn't quite capture the essence of Miwa, it's still is a great piece.

Well, this might me my favorite wall of yours when it comes to choose of scan, but in the end I have to say it's one of least favorite overally. Doesn't mean it's bad, your skills are crazy and your speed is Olympic level, but still.
So, Kanbaru is obviously love. Have to say, exacly like you I didn't liked how her mouth look on this scan, but I don't mind you leaving it like that, guess it pleases Miwa Shirow fans too. I think it's great how you filled character vector with your usual magic, which is mostly visible on vivid hair color. I think the choice of scan made it a bit hard for you to display your skills in usual way - you have a great sense of color, and you use vivid tones in really effective way, but here simple colors of original made it a bit harder to show that, so it loses a bit of wow-factor. Vector is still top-notch technically through and very sexy.
Now the books and and bg behind them looks great. I actually think it's great you decided to add some background of your own (don't like Revision 2), because making pretty, detailed background is one of your best features, and it looks just as good here as on your more complex walls. Makes me want to try working in perspective like you do too, once in future maybe :)
So far so good, but the reason why I wrote I like it less than your other walls is because, since the wall present less complex scene, it seems you wanted to enchance it by adding some other stuff, and frankly there are some parts I don't like. I think t-shirt looks ok, and idea of those "keep out" tapes was a great thing to add, but I don't reall like that you bringed part of them to foreground. Personally I would like it better if there where like 3-4 of those tapes but all put in background. For me, it would make character more of a focus of wall, when now tapes feels a bit imposing. Also a sign "come to a complete stop" looks a bit random and flat. I see you got it from screenshot, and in many cases random and flat is ok in Bakemonogatari style, but it doesn't go along with books that are scathered on all possible angle and whole perspective anture of that wall. Also, not sure how I feel about books that fall from sky. Maybe I wouln't really mind them if other mentioned stuff was gone... it just feels so unncessary cluthered with distractions, if you know what I mean.
I thing it still deserves a favorite, like I said your skills are really great so all your works are overally awesome, and I think one of laws of phisics says you can't go wrong with Kanbaru too. But just pointed some thinks that makes me think it's below your own average, and I hope that opinion maybe can be usefull for you, to improve even moar :)
