Lovely, very lovely! The scene itself is very charming, very calm. Just love how you painted her in your awesome style; you made her very tender, very 'light'. I also enjoy the surrounding - somehow very spooky for me, yet mystical. The movement of leaves(?) adds more motion and somehow it seems u hear her playing... Just brilliant wallpaper!

Leaves, or.. something else! This is a cross between scenic and abstract, so staring at several shapes may change your impression of what it is xD
Snow is not something I mess with, generally- but how can one depict winter without it? It took some effort to hold back and produce something simpler instead of detail-overkill like I typically do, but I'm very happy you enjoyed the wallpaper.

Bantam has it 100% correct. For goodness sake, can you believe the lengths that some people will go to, in order to win a competition? If you are going to try to sell the rookie story and least add some amateurish flourishes. Van Gogh killed himself because he was thinking about not being able to produce something that good. XD

One thing you're going to hear from me on several of your pieces is this. It really looks like you've found a style, and you've been working on refining it. I can definitely see elements build upon the work you did during AP Clash of the Titans, but it's definitely grown immensely since then. You've really got a good grasp on setting and you aren't afraid to challenge yourself with different types of scenery. The ice-style setting is nothing short of gorgeous. The inclusion of plant life is very welcomed. I especially love how it's got this oilish like effect too. However, the real start in my opinion are the crystallized features throughout the wallpaper. These are nothing short of beautiful and really give that wallpaper the extra pop. Combined with the fact that the girl looks stunning and that harp is beautiful, I can only see this piece going in one direction and that's up.
So, I thought I'd try to do something different. Since I normally just offered compliments in the past, I wanted to take my hand at attempting to critique your work. I'll be trying this, so please bear with me if my comments are stupid or things you already know. One thing is while I really love the combination of ice-like and plants, I would of liked to of seen perhaps a bit more snow and ice. However, only a more minimal amount, like on the strings of the harp. I think you've balanced it rather nicely and by intertwining it with her outfit (The headpiece with the ice? Freggin' genius) and on the scenery around her and the harp was nice, but I can't help but to want a bit more of it. Only a touch though. Also, on the right side of the background I get the impression that it's sort of tunnel like. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more light coming through there. but only a little bit, so as to not take away focus from the beautiful centerpiece you created.
One thing that always amazed me about yourself is how humble you are about your work. You continue to push boundaries and challenge yourself and you are never satisfied. It's an inspiration to everyone, especially myself since I've ventured down the graphic design path, and I thank you for continuing to inspire us all. Absolutely gorgeous in it's mystifying beauty.

The Unlimited Brushstroke Works technique is something that I tried out nearly 3 years ago, but CLASH really made it into my 'default' style. Now I rarely work in any other style, and as you say, it's something I have refined (or at least tried to) over the years. At maximum zoom it still looks like blurry crap. I haven't found the cure for that yet.
As for the plant life and the 'tunnel', this wallpaper is kind of... abstract scenic. I uploaded the standard res because it shows the complete image- the widescreen versions cut off the head. Not the character's head! That's a clue for you! But yes it does look like plant life too. If I had to compare it to something... it would be like finding shapes in the clouds, or seeing a face in wood grain (yes, I do both. Not enough for incarceration in a psych ward yet)
I have been ranting on several guestbooks that painting the ice was fun and all but- I got stuck on the snow! I draw fire and plants and buildings and feathery beings but- snow! It seems I've found my kryptonite. Adding ice to the harp strings- hmm, that's a really good idea actually. My problem is that PIXIV doesn't allow editing (!) unless one has a premium account. One must bow to capitalism and let things be as they are- but I'll keep that idea in mind for future works. I think this is the first time I drew a musical instrument- don't examine the perspective on the strings! Nevaarr!
I am also fond of the ice headpiece. The last time I drew ice was in 2009 - so I didn't remember how I did it and just fumbled around till it looked somewhat icy! This sort of thing is completely impossible to explain in words D: video recordings are a pretty recent habit so I've forgotten at least some of what I learned in the dark ag- I mean, way back then.
If I am humble it is because I am master of nothing- everything is a learning process and the journey is more important than the destination, yadda yadda... I think what makes me most happy is that while I see improvement in my work, I'm still not happy with what I can do. When I am content and tired of learning, that will be the death of progress.
I wish you luck on your graphic design quest! You should post some of your work, Cy- and I'd think of something witty to say, but all this typing has got me tired out. xD

Took me some time to realize there was a harp on the picture. No idea why (sarcasm). Hard to tell if those are crystals, water, or ice all around, gives it a very mysterious atmosphere. Lighting is also on the spot. Very well done.

another amazing drawing! I really like how you used almost only blue to make this much detail. It really speaks to the underwater world she resides. I have to say that this wall was well done. There is something about it that really draws your eye in. It really takes awhile to see all the detail that is with in it. The coloration works well since it keeps parts of it a mystery.

As for my style, it wasn't a conscious decision, but my work did develop a certain look after sometime- I only wish I had a better idea of what something will turn out like while working!

Gorgeous wallpaper! The character is done extremely well, and the background has been detailed with perfect precision and flair. I have very little 'weight' in a sea as vast as PIXIV's; so I do what I can for a contest such as this, which is skewed on pageviews. It's not the ideal solution, but... I couldn't think of anything else to do. I'm glad you like the wallpaper though!
