Hi guys!
I'm trying something a little different today. CS6 has some really cool perspective blurring features, I wanted to use those new techniques to make her seem like she's got some thoughts going on cause the original scan mentioned memories! Hope you enjoy!

Hey I really like that effect, I'll have to check CS6 out some more I thought everything was the same. Nice overlay effect! I like the blurring a lot well done!

Gii's milkshakes bring all the comments to the yard!
So, what do we got going on here today? We've got some Another action going on. A series about a girl with an eye patch, some guy that moves to a town where everyone acts weird, great music and lots of blood. And...we've got another white background with a character in a medium shot. So I really like the whole spark type effect, it looks pretty cool and gives a nice texture to the wallpaper. Problem is, I don't really see how it overall fits with the wallpaper itself. Generally speaking, with a background, like this, you get an understanding as to why the effects used, are used. I can equate the blur itself to what you mentioned about memories being fuzzy, but for myself I actually didn't interpret that until I read your description. Do the memories have to do with something about herself? With moments she's lived in her life? The main reason I bring this up is a wallpaper is a great opportunity to tell a story, and sadly there's only so much you can tell with just a scan and a white background. If you wanted to stick with it, I'd recommend toning down the blur, as especially it's strong in the lower section.
Speaking of the background itself, it does look like you've spiced things up. I see a shape in the background, so you've got this whole white on white effect. It's definitely a step in a different direction, and looks much better than previous works. I'd still recommend playing around with a bit of colors, or perhaps stock wise. By all means, this is merely a suggestion. but mainly because the right hand side is so plain and, like previously mentioned, white on a desktop background is absurdly tough on the eyes for a desktop background.
Aside from simply cutting back on the blur, it's actually a stronger piece than what you've previously done before. Yet I still feel that you can become even better. It's like you've found a good niche, now it's just improving that.

Yes! More Another wallpapers! You certainly brought back some memories with those embers (those are embers right?). The last episode had plenty to say the least. Too bad her trademark eyepatch is not present. I'm not familiar with CS6, nor its new features, but you must have used them well if it turned out like this. Nice one!

As I told you before, learn to link your sources.
Some ppl might to say that it better as some of your previous, but for is again the same boring one. And now, seeing the background again being totally white (blank), is pretty obvious to me now - YOU CANNOT EVEN EXTRACT IMAGES Just for your information, extraction is something what your learn of the very first day, when you decide to make own anime wallpapers. And it mastered it to A+ two months before I submitted my very first wallpaper to AnimePaper.

I know how to extract. I know how to vector, I even have an entry in the vector gallery. Sometimes I wanna focus on the foreground and the effects I can do and not fill a simple vector with a generic beach background. I don't care how long you've been here or what you did on your first wall, I don't care where you submitted it or what grade it was. I don't really care how you even make your wallpapers, whether you extract or not back in the day because I don't think you really know how to use any of the functions of Photoshop given that you don't appear to use anything that Illustrator doesn't already fulfill.
Seriously, let's see you make a non-beach non-vectored wallpaper, I would honestly love to see it and will give you my honest non-asshole opinion, in exchange I will make one aki-style recreated-directly-from-scan beach wallpapers all vectored and pretty free of charge in return.

But you can't just fokus on the foreground and forget the background. Thats quite sad, because it could be a really good and atsmopheric wallpaper.

Lol, this is ridiculous. Same old, same old. Critique? There is nothing to be critiqued in here, simple as that. Don’t take it personally, but c’mon, enough with the same and into the new. Let’s improve and come up with fresher and newer ideas for your own sake, not mine or anyone else. On a side note, I’ve seen that conceptually, most of the walls in this site have lately (since the past 6 to 5 months, more or less) come to an extreme halt, which is a letdown.
Anyway, let’s be real, the truth is that you don’t care about all these long-ass comments people keep writing you about how to improve your own works. And that’s fine, it’s your wall and you wall it the way you want. In the end, you might end up getting for this wall a rating of +A thanks to the already mess up rating system in this site (shocked? Not really).
I just don’t get why people keep coming into your walls and commenting at this point. It’s not like you care or will change. Me? Well, this is my last comment. I’m done with this c**p. From now on, I’ll only comment on works that I really like (like that K-on wall that was in this site last week ago, but sadly got deleted by its owner) or something that might have some kinda salvation concept-wise.
Hope you take all the comments people keep writing you in here at heart and change for better. I don’t really care, but if you do change, well good for you. I’m sure, that’s all they want: for you to step it up to the next level. With all this, I’ve only one more last thing to say: Hasta la vista, dude! (PS: sorry for the long-ass comment too)

Sorry to say that, but with this BG its just boring, like all your other works.

Very good vector, but the blur effect is too much.
9 months, 1 week ago
I have to take back my previous comment. There was no vector on this wall, only a cut-and-add effects work. Please try to do something better even if it's worse than the original img.

The only "bad point" of this wallpaper is the white background. Besides this, it's pretty nice.

Simple, but has great impact. Good work with this!

Contrary to what most commentators are saying, I actually quite like the simplicity of this wall. I think it looks nice and the subtle texture of the background is nice. It's actually NOT just white. My only complaint would be that the little orange-y yellow streaks of light probably should have extended beyond just the main image and had, at least a little bit, some on the background as well. But, overall, I do like the piece.

it's lovely.

Woah really? I had no idea you could do that in CS6! O_O I think I still need to learn a lot about PS, I ALWAYS use the same settings and filters xD Totally love the effects and i like the plain bg a lot, it adds nicely to the movement of the wall.

I like it very much!

Looking at your gallery, I see that you've been playing with those bright, lighting-effects-based wallpapers for some time already. Honestly, I don't like many of them, even through each time something change, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. I think when it comes to walls like this, you gotta experiment a lot before submitting, because it's easy to make wall boring or overbrightened and it's hard to aim for perfection. I sometimes make walls where background is all black, and it's basically the same kind of problem, I look at them and think "people will say background is empty, and it looks boring". The whole idea about empty background is part of the concept through and I don't want to hide that fact, the thing is rest must be good enough to make viewers focus on it more than background, and find it interesting, while keeping clean background an integral part of it.
Some part of things you've done were good choices in my opinion. Scan is definittely nice choice, also the way you adjusted hue and saturation is ok. About blurring, generally I think it was very good idea, although maybe you might have put some more work into it, be more detailed about which part to blur and how much. Now the sparks are ok, but there are some lights that you used radial blur on, and it's quite noticable and looks a bit cheap. Also maybe it's just my taste, but I feel like this is kind of a wall where I would expect some text used, to maybe further bring your idea to view. Gotta say I hate you titled it "Another wall", maybe because titles were always important to me :P I imagine you also could put some more work on adjusting saturiation and hue on parts of hair, to make some kind of vivid reflection that would go along with spark-effects.
In the end, I think it''s one of your better light-experiments (if I can call em that), but I think if you would put together experience you gained on making all walls in such style, you could still deliver something better.

Great Job Gii, you've made alot of walls I've liked but this is great. That effect really does evoke a certain mystique or thoughtfulness in the moment, which is a big part of her character. Again, beautiful wall.

Holy mother o.o I love the blurring effect. The effect makes it even awesome. I like that the background is plain, so the focus stays on the character.

not sure what others are ranting about... they clearly don't have an eye for true art. ;) This is really well done. It's simple, yet effective! The overall blurs and effects that you've added here really work well together, and I love how it draws your attention to her eyes, which is what you were trying to achieve here. I really like this piece. Keep it up! =]
