Hello AP cats.
Here comes 3rd wall in a series "Serial Experiments Deto"
Also 2nd wall in series "I has bad feels so I cry blood", after this one
or maybe actually I just made that up.
So it was pretty simple concept, I started with a scan, and imagined how it would look like if rain was black, and she was invisible, just covered in rain, kinda like Kevin Bacon's Hollow Man i-bathed-in-blood scene. I first came out with rainy bg, with grain and some sihoutttes and black floor and stuff and trashed it all out after starting vector, because it all just made it look less interesting. Kept only rain.
Anyway, glad how it came out, because after finishing bg first, I was pretty sure this experiment will be a failure, but turns out vectoring was coming pretty much how I planned. Hope you'll like it too. Also, text comes from this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSWMDgzHAqMSome parts of it feels so much like Mei.
Btw, also heard Another walls with white bg were quite popular recently.

Hella stylin' Deto. I love the gaussian type blurry effect around the clean lines the rain dripping down looks really cool! I love the blood drip typography. Is that a typeface or did you add the drips?

So I was a huge fan of your Canaan wallpaper you did. Really loved how you captured the essence of the style it was based off of and thought it worked perfectly for the series as well. I also never commented on it, so I'll have to do that later.
So I gotta stay right away that I really love how you experiment with things. It's really wonderful watching you sort of bend and twist things to come up with these interesting and unique concepts. Another has some fantastic work, but really hasn't received much love in the walling section, so it's nice that Gii and now you have given it some more. The thing I really like about this wallpaper is you utilize the effects and scenery to create a piece that perfectly fits with the series itself. I've told you this before and I'll say it again, Mei is haunting in this scene. By going for a more outline approach and minimalistic, you give a great sense of depth and emotion to the character. She's absolutely terrifying to look at, and I love it. By taking the rain and integrating it into the piece, with having the lines drip down, you create such a strong horror-style atmosphere. I'd dare say that this image you created is the perfect example of minimalistic being much better than anything detailed. It's got a level of depth and feeling to it that I just don't see in any of the scans. I seriously cannot stress enough that just by utilizing the outlining and an effect that was in the scan you based off of, you created a great level of depth.
Second off, I gotta state that I'm glad you went minimal. I personally find that with weather based wallpapers, especially rain, it's best to stick with a more minimal approach. You don't need a bunch of crap in the background or a bunch of things going on. It's suppose to be about emotion and atmosphere, and as I've already stated numerous times you captured that remarkably. The rain itself helps also to outline Mei's character, which was well done in my book. It's also light enough to where it doesn't take over the wallpaper, but it still has a deal of presence on the piece too. I especially like the fact that you chose to centralize it instead of putting it throughout the entire piece. Another thing, yet again that I'm gushing over, is the choice of text. I really like that you slimmed down the lyrics and changed up the font. I look at it and I get this impression that she's standing out in the rain, tracing letters on a piece of glass or someone's window, and then touches her eye before she finishes what she was writing. It just completely the eerie vibe of the piece and the fact that it's a handwritten style typeface, it helps make it much more believable that she actually wrote it herself.
So I've gone on and on about this piece, but would there be any changes? Well, I love how she's got this ink look to her, and like the ink itself is runny. Some of it in her centralized area seems to be a bit too dark/thick, but yet at the same time I'm not exactly sure if something like that should be changed, since it fits the texture and base of ink. Otherwise.. to be blunt I wouldn't change a thing. It creates so much with it's minimalistic feel, yet it's got that level of depth that comes with a more experienced waller. By far my new favorite from you and the first anime desktop I've used in years. I absolutely adore this piece and I hope it'll inspire others to create similar pieces.

Hello sir. I can try to write a long comment but I don't think it will do your wall justice.
First off, I'd like to thank you for proving that not everything has to be ultra-detailed with 1 million objects for it to look good, nor does it have to be super-polished. This wall has very little elements but it does not feel bare at all. You also showed that AP doesn't need to be very aversive to background-less walls. What really makes this wall work is clear artistic vision and excellent execution. Far too often gloss and polish is used to cover up for a lack of a good concept. Take my walls for example; I can create a good design but often it is shallow and tells no story other than it's just good looking.
Your wallpaper, however, tells a story. As long as one is familiar with the series, the wall speaks volumes about Mei without the need to resort to a wall of text. In the series, Mei is present but at the same time, she's invisible.
If I have a complaint, it's that the wall feels too weighty on the right side. The bold red just draws too much attention and shifts the visual weight to the right side. If you can give me a textless version I will milk your cows for 1 week for free
anyway, good job bro

Really great work I like the style I can appreciate this a lot. Some people here would probably tell you to vector a whole room out or something because you cant just have a plainly stated white background but that would ruin the atmosphere. The cool rain effect is very effective and I really like the character you chose this is a very good wall!

Love it, the expression and the rain effects are awesome and great job

That's very artistic yet horrific, just like Another. An image fading under the rain, a cursed red eye crying and a good text. Fav+ and Download!

I like the idea and especially the fact that you went with a minimalist approach; it's always a good time to step back from clutter on the desktop (generally speaking, not referring to your walls). What caught my eyes first was the melting red eyepatch, it's a neat detail that gives the whole wallpaper an eerie feel. The rain's also well done, not many wallers go for a downpour :)
However, this feels a bit empty, IMO. I get what you were trying to accomplish with the blur, but I feel it's too heavy where it overlaps the girl. It would've been better to have some variation on the "inside" - as it is, it looks too uniform and almost like you duplicated the layer and just applied a blur filter to it. And there's something off about the text, can't quite place my finger on it... it's like it and the girl aren't part of the same image. Maybe that's from it being too clear, while the girl is more on the blurry side (btw, love the dripping effect, no complaints there!)
I suggest adding a faint outline of a brick wall behind her. It wouldn't cover the entire background, just the area around her and maybe part of the text, so it can look like the text is written on the wall and she's leaning against it. IMO that would make everything flow better and keep this from looking too empty (although it's minimalistic, the blur gives me the feeling of emptiness, and not the good kind either).

Is that you... slender man?
Honestly I've been trying to think of what to type. Your whole approach and theme for this wall fits very well together. The raining outlining her creates an aura of mystery and eeriness. Her blood dripping from her left eye creates an illusion. The bright red in the wall can make it look like an eye. Upon closer inspection it shows a bleeding wound with an eye patch or gauze absorbing the blood. Pure white backgrounds is one the things I dislike but it's the only choice for this type of wall. It helps the blackness stand out and create intensity. Maybe reflecting the intense feelings someone might feel when they turn around and see this invisible figure being outlined in the rain.
I like how the outlines are only in the top half of her body and the rest is kept invisible. It leaves the rest of her body to your imagination. The white silhouette outlined by the faint gray mist from the raining dropping is such a nice touch. The rain seems to form an oval shape which directs the focus toward the center and then fade off toward the sides. This helps kill an imaginary frame around the character and makes the wall feel expansive. The rain kind of looks like static to me and I expect to hear white noise. It creates some sort of horror effect in addition to being just rain.
The dripping text is a cool effect but I don't really like it. I can understand the text is supposed to make the viewer think about it endlessly and create a certain mood for the wall. But from a design stand point it just doesn't really work for me. It's sort of just there. Personal taste I guess.
I'm glad you're doing a chain of these experimental walls and playing around with different themes. Even if the wall appears simple it could still have a lot of meaning. Your approaches are really refreshing in this age where most walls are pretty stagnant. +

I like how you bring out so much impact in such a subtle use of black, red and white. The red paint / blood coming out of the left eye is haunting in a way. I don't know anything about this series but the minimalist elements you've used tell a tale that needs to be understood. Now, I have to look up this series to know what it is. The washed out feel of the text and lines all add to the drama. Great work. Though it is expected from you, your walls always deliver something fresh and profound.

oh my..... this is really creepy, but very unique, the runny affect gives off a chilling effect to the viewer, yup chilling..... but the simplicity is also adding to the creepiness of the wall..... nice wall^^"""

Black, white and red colours can create wonders when they are combined and used in the right way. It is difficult to use black and white while ensuring that the work is not monotonous.
I like how you did the raining effects ( with the brushes and erasing perhaps? correct me if I got it wrong), which is cool and beautiful. My fav part would be the wordings. You managed to use different colours with fading tones and the red colour of the typography is not too sharp which overshadows the bleeding eye that you would like to highlight in this wall.
Good composition and we can see the efforts even though it has a simple design.

Well, I will always like b\w with red elements concepts, especially if they are so well done performed. This "disappear-into-rain" concept of character looks great, but as for me the upper part of head could be smoother and softer. I also like how you've made her eye-patch, those "bloody tears' mixed with "disappear-into-rain" fit quite well for Mei. White BG is good, but mb just a lil’ grayish won’t be bad.
Still, I like it and it's great add to your experiment series. Keep up))
