Hello everyone :)
SPOILER: The story of this wall lies of course in KIRA's or Yagami Light's fate after his death in the final chapter of Death Note. The note states: "All humans, without exception, will eventually die. After they die, the place they go to is MU (nothingness). Once dead, they can never come back to life. " (or at least that is what I got from wiki). That is also the meaning of the lable to the right, while the Kanji character has the meaning of "nothingness", and read as "MU". /SPOILER
To make the background I used a picture my parents took in Berlin (I think):

The four KIRAs were taken from screenshots:

That AWESOME font was created by http://www.ankokukoubou.com , credit to them.
You might like the first revision with the burned lens but I hate it when it's too bright... A lot of things were confusing in the process of making this wall, such as the placement of every object, the lable to the right (I hate that thing! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻), and mostly just detail.
And that's it, hope you like it ;)

Yes Holy, yes. I'm not a Death Note fan to be honest, but this looks great. The concept is simply awesome, I really can't hate on anything. It's good and that's that, accept it.

This is really great for a first attempt. I love how you used the photograph and manipulated it in. It looks pretty fitting. Love the grunge style it feels very death note! Great work on the perspective as well!

Good job on your first wall Holy! It's very good for a first wall, certainly a lot more better and original than my first one. Cool designs and overall it looks very cool!

First off, for a first wall this is absurdly ambitious. You've got a lot of difficult things you attempted and for the majority, it was a huge success. For that alone, you should be rather proud of yourself. It's definitely a tough thing to do and you did it.
That photo you worked with for the background is the true star of the show. How you twisted the original photo into what you did really shows that you've got some talent for being able to take a stock and make it into your own piece. The focal lighting points and shading really came out nicely, and provide a great sense of depth too. It really makes this the star part of your wallpaper and for good reason too. I also liked how you avoid using a great deal of color. I also have to tip my hat you on how you did the text as well. While I'd recommend toning down the brightness of the red, I like how you positioned the type and how natural it looks on the wall too. Personally I don't like to go with a language that a majority can't understand for typography, but since Kanji is something you've been learning I think it's great that you integrated it into the background too.
Now, we'll get into the characters. They really stand out in comparison to the background. The biggest reason is the background has a good amount of texture to it, but the characters are sharp and clean. The end result is while you've got this cool look for them, they really stand out in comparison and the end result is a bit jarring. However, it's not bad. The concept is a fantastic one that just needs that extra bit of refinement as well. The characters also look a bit rough too, but the more you get to work with Illustrator/Photoshop, the better it'll be.
Overall, this is incredible. You really attempted an ambitious projected and in my eyes, you greatly succeed with it. It's definitely got it's bumps, but then again what project doesn't? Fantastic work, Holy!

this wall is weird in a really absurd way... that's how i describe your wallpaper :D I think your idea is great in how you imagine death note anime into this work...the pillars you used as a bg also look natural, the pillars itself made the character more 'ghostly'...but i think the character itself like `CrimsonCyanide has already explained before me, need more work so they don't look too stand out. It's really weird, but i think that's how death note is...absurd ^^

looks cool, I like how the people are all silhouettes (gives a creepy, ghost effect) :)

Hey holy, so you finally submit your first wall! Congratulations!
Not bad for a first attempt at all, but the only thing I would really suggest is changing the value of the red into something darker. Red plus grayscale is a pretty popular combination, but right now the neon look it has doesn't really fit the overall tone of the wall. Red by itself is a pretty strong color and it's quite easy to give a composition too much red. maybe something more subdued and closer to the color of blood would work.
check out these awesome red+gray walls!
coincidentally, my very first wall here was also a red+gray wall but it was nowhere near as ambitious as your piece is. Congratulations, holy!

I know it's your first wallpaper, but you ironically seem to do a lot of really unnecessary nitpicking on some really amazing wallpapers when there are a lot of major problems with yours. The characters look really blocky, and the lines and colors look like they were painted with a mousepad. You should probably use higher quality screenshots. I'm not sure why their legs are cut off like that. The filters and textures you put on the photo really degrade it, and it adds a strange contrast compared to the very plain looking characters. Fully painting the characters or really trimming down the textures would solve a lot of problems. You did a good job matching the perspective of the big kanji on the walls, but the kanji on the right side looks really out of place. Lastly, it's pretty hard to use a lens flare well, I don't think it works so well here. I do like the concept though.

I simply think the background you choose was the best choice and how you worked with it. Textures added fit in nicely and I applaud this First wall being executed quite nicely.
