This is a makeover of one I submitted a few years ago Color rebalanced to match coated paper output rather than uncoated and released at 3x the size..
This one came from a private scan. Existing, online scans max out at 6000x4000 with fuzzier detail. But using a scan that focused on the center subject and removing the superfluous elements gave a good base for the subject.
This was an interesting scan in development. I originally tried to submit the scan it is based on (an 10kx6k original that focused on the central subject. The only scans close to this are lower quality 6x4k scans that were more blurry and less colorful. But the scan I submitted was only of the central subject and wasn't a group photo -- so they said because it was cropped, it would be impossible for anyone on MT to create a wall from. cough. This was my 2nd wall (albeit in its 3rd revision now). Even on my beloved AP, someone said the scan was overly magnified showing the grain -- and that once that has done, the damage is irreparable -- and again, I couldn't see the problem. So I had to set about seeing how difficult to do it would be. I mean, if it really was impossible to use, I should try eating my own dog food, as they say.
But somehow, for a 2nd wall, it turned out pretty well. Some people suggested corrections in the first revision, which I slowly incorporated over time along with new techniques and new ideas.
I'm hoping it will stand as a final version of NQ -- I still have others in the queue...not quite so involved maybe,
The superfluous figures were, of course removed with a combination of fill and sample from adjacent areas, as well as with some random artwork doodles I came up with in Painter X,
Anyway, she hops you find her to your liking....she's well worth a full screen download -- with the full redo, I was able to use more of the full limits of the scan and deliver a very large version that can be easily shrunk making it all the more crisp.

I'm sorry but it merely looks like you have painted lines over a scan... if I'm wrong I apologise, but that's what it looks like.

Um...you say that like it is an accusation, but you don't realize what a compliment is -- as there is no scan that exists that I could have traced this from -- yet the detail I reproduced looks exactly like it came from a scan -- which wouldn't be an issue, as near as I can tell, since every tutorial about vectoring starts off with a scan and drawing/tracing lines over the existing image and then filling them in. So, it would look that way, would seem to me that I might have started it like any or everyone else doing a wall paper creates one. (I didn't say it was original art!).
OTOH, as I pointed out in the description -- you will find no scan that this could have come from as the scan I did get the central subject from, I was told by 'the self-proclaimed experts', was unusable as a source for a wall and it would be impossible to make a wall from it. So the fact that you think that it was something that was simply painted over a scan says alot to my artistic ability to create the original style, so thank you for the compliment! I am serious ... I'm not sure why you are apologizing...It's not like I've done dozens or hundreds of walls to think I'm some sort of expert...this is a third revision of a 2nd wallpaper -- so obviously, I take people's comments to heart and work to many of the issues raised.
Staying 'true' to some original sourcework's artistic intent is definitely one of those issues I vacillate on. At times, I go from trying to do my best to stay within 'their lines', while at others, I try to impart more of my own ideas... Probably comes from having done alot of touch-up work on scans I used to, more regularly, submit.
