A Gankutsuou wall without floofy floral patterns? What gives? Well, dare to be different, I always say. I downloaded the scan because I was always fond of the Eugenie/Albert relationship, and as I began to trace it I noticed the outlines were thick and dynamic, almost like a painting. So instead of the typical over-the-top frills, I decided to use a much different style - Art Nouveau. I've been meaning to make some more walls in the Nouveau style (I had two recently that never got anywhere) and decided that it would be a good fit - after all, The Count of Monte Cristo is a French novel and Art Nouveau was a mainly European art movement, with a good portion of it in France. I based the framing on Alphonse Mucha's style of framing, tracing over several of his posters. To keep with that poster feel I didn't add any extra detail, just some textures to give that paperish poster feeling. Sadly, I didn't get to use gradient mesh on the characters to get the shading. I have another gradient mesh project that's a lot more intense than this image, so I figured for expediency's sake, Gaussian blurs would work just as well. (Except Illustrator does weird stuff to anything blurred past 20 pixels. Just so you know.) Title based on the opening theme. More resolutions at DA! Desktop Anime. This was actually the first wall in which I planned for all 3 (widescreen, 4x3 and 5x4) resolutions in the design of the frame. You'll note that the frame cuts off in just the right places for each size without any bleed over. That took some thinking to do, let me tell you! For Candy-chan, my Art Nouveau comrade-in-arms.

Amazing. Just... amazing. I love everything of it, and I mean everything. I can't find one single thing to criticize. It's all wonderfully done....the style, the concept, the colours, the shading. If I didn't highlight you already in the past I'd be highlighting this wallpaper without thinking twice.

OMG, SEKZ! The smooth edges and semmingly bled colors really bring out the relatoionship between the 2. Very fitting for a Ganku wall.

I love how the layout looks like an antique monument. The whole thing is beautiful - I wouldn't know where to put my icons b/c I don't want to cover anything :P! I also like the texture of the wall, and I like the shades of the red used in this wall b/c it doesn't hurt your eyes:)!

on a technical end, and since i just saw a bunch of mucha's stuff in class, i could only pick on 2 things. the text "we were lovers" touches on one side but the the other, and the arch doesnt seem to be the same as the border edge its near. that and the colors combo's you have dont do your piece justice i think. there is a lot of work in this and its very well crafted. so i think if u changed the text and the colors a bit it would be wonderful! :D fantastic job!

Choice of colour was good, it does however look a bit rough, but its still good to me.

I only saw one or two episodes of this but now i need to pick it up again XD thanks again for the wallpapers... i just bought a new laptop and it's widescreen so i have been searching feverishly trying to replace my once huge repertoire of walls.... yours have been a big chunk of my replacement ^.^ thanks again!

Hey, this is great!! It's like the pictures in the old stamps, very classical. It's really different from the one used in the original Gankutsuou, but I think it's a good idea to use it here ^_^ And yeah, I like their relationship too. A sweet thing in the middle of grudge and betrayal...

A pretty wallpaper, exquisite work as always. I have no complaints again this wallpaper, and overall, it's a good job. The style's pretty unique, and everything just looks good together. Overall, really neat thing. Good job.
