This wallpaper is dedicated to my friend Fran who I pestered into watching Brotherhood. I think she still hates/loves me for all the FEELINGS she endured, but this is our OTP so this should help make her happy.

This wallpaper was one giant test for an art style that my heart insisted upon. Fact of the matter is I can't vector. Whenever I attempt a vector I end up back at my art table with a pencil/pastel/charcoal in my hand. I know Photoshop through and through, but even then I crave for the intimacy of actual paper.
So I indulged myself to bring you another taste of something you don't really see on AP: a wallpaper made using traditional methods. I cropped and traced this scan onto a piece of paper and attacked it with graphite.
Just about everything in this image is comprised of hand-written text, which becomes quite clear in the full view. The text I used is taken from pivotal scenes in the FMA manga that define Roy and Riza's relationship (such as the Ishbal flashbacks). The original image I scanned into my computer is all graphite: the shading achieved with different pencil scales (2B-7B) while darker areas (such as Roy's jacket and hair) are a couple layers of text placed on top of each other. The same method was used to create the background (which is based on a fan-reconstruction of Riza's tattoo, I have sadly lost the name of whoever created it). Once I had the images scanned onto my computer I used Photoshop to clean them up and add color and various textures.
What I've come away with is not just a wallpaper, but the beginnings of a style that speaks more naturally to me than anything else I've tried before. I'm more of a writer than a visual artist; language is my form of choice. Images inside my head are all constructed out of script in the same manner that our bodies are constructed out of cells. You don't begin to see it until you zoom in with a microscope. At last it seems I've been able to grasp a means of conveying these images in their true form.

Full view definately recommended this is a really interesting wall with a lot of fantastic detail. It's amazing to see all the words, I spent a good while looking at them all haha. It's amazing to read you drew it with pencil and scanned it in, you've got real skill! Fantastic wallpaper!

Whoa...haven't seen an original and interesting wallpaper here like this in...well, ages. Love all those little hand-made details and I can't believe you colored and shaded them both by using text that was, once again, applied manually. It really shows a level of patience, love and creativity I missed seeing here; I just had to log in to leave a comment and fave this, lol.

IN THIS AGE WHERE VECTORS REIGN OVER THE EMPIRE OF WALLING.
I was glad that someone was able to innovate something new. I'm not against vectoring or vectors(I really love them), but I feel that they are overused in someways so I opt to go back to some old techniques I love before like painting and some re-CG. I could say that this work of yours, where traditional art meets application was able to transcend both the time and the techniques. I've seen a few number of people who use this similar process but it didn't go well. But, by the way you execute this was really superb and let the someone be in awe for a few seconds. I love all the effort you pondered in making this wall, it needs a lot of effort, passion, patience and conviction to be able to do it. For, the level of creativity, all I could say is it was fairly high.
Ok, I think that's enough for the introduction.** IN SHORT YOUR WORK IS AMAZING AWESOME AND .....I'M OUT OF WORDS** (I've already used all of them in the Intro, LOL). But I would like to point out the glowing effect that you've added there seems that it something was a little bit odd, hope you could release a revision for that. Overall, good job and added this to my favorites.

FMA is one of my most favourite animes and this wall is really epic! Maybe a bit too grainy for my liking but I think it shows them deep in battle! Nice work
