It's too simple. No lighting is used to add to the "glory" The colors don't match her close enough for it to blend well. The SAO logo pops out too much, but it's also very small. Basically would be better to remove it in total.
This image isn't suited for this kind of background in the long run. It would be better to use it for a fractal or grunge background, which would showcase the intensity of battle better.

Yea, I made this before I started playing around with lighting so this is just pre-"that" and do you think it'd better to make the logo smaller/lower opacity or just still get rid of it entirely?

Maybe move her to the right side of the wallpaper. Then put like a boss character from SAO in the background to the left, further into the distance, away from viewer. Make the boss character posing his "final death stance" or whatever pose. I say this cause it looks like Asuna is finishing an "ultimate move" or whatever, so maybe have the wallpaper in that moment where she runs through the boss character, killing it. Add some glowing trails on the blades like they had in the anime for some effect? You might want to play around with the placement according to what you end up drawing. I'm pretty sure you can find an abundance of models from the anime itself. Just a suggestion though, since everybody else is saying how plain the background is. I just thought maybe you could add some purpose/context to the background with the main vector you have. It's a great vector, but the background doesn't do it justice.

I see what you're saying and I completely agree. Thanks for the suggestion, I usually struggle with what I want to put in the background after I complete the vector itself and that'd be a good idea.

I actually prefer the first revision, it makes asuna pop out more. You should try to do more with the background to provide more contrast. But still asuna is awesome

The highlights/basetones look a little funny in how they're stepped up/down on top of her head and in the right mop of her hair. I'd go for a more gradual blending in and out. Also, it looks like those sections are part of the background pattern carried over into the foreground. Not sure what to do about that though, unless you want to change a tint or shift the pattern. -_-
Otherwise, I like the use of the two main colors of her hair and the red, and the rest sort of sepia tinted ever so slightly that you have going on.Like the art choice as well, lots of action with her weight shifted to her back foot just on the verge of thrusting forwards in a powerful thrust, as evidenced by the hair and the cant of her body and waist. Though, the front arm extended may mean she's in an en garde receiving posture, I prefer to think that's part of the forwards shift for a thrust.
Anyways, lots going for this one.

ehh, i kinda dislike it, the bg is too simple, there is no harmony between the bg and the render, maybe because those circle lines.

Beautiful

Now it looks too bland. The colors don't contrast enough in the background. Again you're not making it look intense. When i first glanced at this i thought it was just a vector on a blank background. you need to give it the feeling of like... -BOOM- to make it be "in all her glory". If it was her just standing it would've been fine, but since this is an action pose it should have some umph to it, like more contrast in the background and proper lighting. Some parts of her hair look odd, because of the way the background creeps into the foreground, yet the different shades are not visible in the background. The first revision made Asuna pop out more because the contrast.. is well... the opposite of blending, which in my opinion looks better.

As a wallpaper of Asuna her I guess I'm weird because I like the second revision more xD I, for some reason just don't like the lines in the background. I really like the way her uniform looks also, very cute. As like a simple vectored wall I like it but it has a lot of potential to be awesome. Maybe, if you made the background grungy/fractal; like Hoser said, it would add some nice pop to the wall indeed, and then add one of the bosses to the wall. Then you could move Asuna over to the left and add in the boss so that it looks like she's in a battle. ^^.

I really like this image. Because of the background being soft, my eyes keep getting drawn into Asuna's eyes. Great job and thanks for this wallpaper.
