Voices Of A Distant Star Ano Toki...

:sigh: Im a bit disappointed, I've been following your works for a while and most of them have been at least "decent", needless to say you have a few great ones. This one though..tssk tssk, I can't strees enough; that putting a scan above a stock photo does not make a wallpaper. I'll let it slide though, because at least you had the decency to squeeze in a few brushes, textures and filters. Totally would've given you a fave if you would've brushed the clouds on your own. Not only because it would've meant NO STOCK, but because it would've looked much much better.

Beautiful :D Definitely haven't seen that many walls of Hoshi no Koe, so this is quite a treat. I'm not a fan of the feathers, and the white edge running along the righthand side of the top feels a bit distracting, but otherwise this is lovely, I really like the perspective as well >_<

i like this wallpaper, but, in the other hand, i agree with minstrelk, it would look much better if you draw the clouds, that dosen't mean i don't like it or it isn't a good job, like i said, i like it, but it could be better.

I've also gotta go with minstrelknight on this one. It's a good wall but it could have been better with a little more time and effort. I like it when people make walls from scratch instead of playing around with a stock photo. Not that there's anything wrong with using stock photos I just like to see hand-made material.

I like the overall feel of the wall, but I don't like how distance is portrayed. The background clouds are very clear, as are the feathers and stoplight, but the "main focus" of the wall is fuzzy, and this defies all basic artistic laws about distance. Also, I'd like it more if the feathers were more varied in their size (a really big one, etc. They're all about the same size). Still, the colors and composition are nicely done, and this is certainly a good wallpaper for something quickly thrown together.

Despite what everyone so far has said about this wall I find it very interesting. The colors go nicely with eachother but I have to say there is something wierd about the clouds. Anyways, hey I like it! ^_^

aww the atmosphere seems kinda depressing with that tint of the sky, but i guess that what makes the wall moving or maybe i just don't know what i'm talking about :P

The scan in very nice, I love perspective of it. The background is nice but because it´s a photo, it´s too realistic, I think. The colours of the wallpaper are pretty and dark and the texture goes well with them. Cute feathers :) Good work ^^

I like the background using brushes and stock photos, but I feel like sumthing is missing. THough it does capture the essence of the anime (having that sad yet happy feeling to it, 'voices of a distant star made me cry actually) it lacks sumthing! however, I still like it! good job!

The picture is just perfect. The bottom of screen, the top with great clouds and blackness on the edges are beautiful, and the feathers are also very well done. And not mention, this is a great wall, because it's dark and my eyes won't be tired after I watch this for about an hour : ) Thx for this perfect wallpaper.

i like the perspective on this one but I can spot a lot of frame lines that weren't blended very well into the sky. The clouds in the thumb view look too realistic but in full view they're much better. Oh and the feathers are a bit much but overall it fits with the short film very well, all sad and wistful all at once. Really lovely for a quickie~

a fantastic wallpaper that captures the attention of those people who look at it from a faraway view. The slight greenish effect, the pale colors that cover the wallpaper, the sense of faraway-ness, and the two people who looked away, so serene and childlike innocence, and so pure and sweetly calming, the wallpaper of the week indeed for me.

Great job, I also really love this anime. Too bad it's so short = ( I agree that the faded look is appropriate and feels right, since most memories really are not as clear as we would like them to be.

It's really great, this one. And Hoshi no Koe is one of my favorite movies aswell. The manga is also fantastic, but that's a little out of context. Anyway, great work.. I really think so. I like the "simplicity" of the wallpaper.

I think it's absolutely beautiful. It's just too bad I can't actually look at it because I can't enlarge it due to some zany thing called "paper." Brilliant idea, taht one. So maybe if I spam enough I'll acquire some "paper." But I'm too lazy and I'll just go find another site. It's a nice wallpaper, though. Voices doesn't really require any personal, subjective brushwork because it's beautiful art in and of itself. Screencaps work perfectly, imho.

I just recently watched this anime. Your wallpaper has a distinct feel (it reminds me of watercolors), that's not altogether bad at all. Your clouds are absolutely gorgeous (especially since you didn't use a stock photo), but I think that the traffic light is kind of...off from the rest of the picture. Great job, anyways!

omg. the atmosphere is depressing and romantic at the same time...the birds again make a nice touch to almost everytype of background trying to explain something like this. the characters don't blend as good but all in all i love this wallpaper ^_^ AWESOME JOB

Wonderful work for you to have been rushed.

The setting looks close to realistic, especially the clouds. It gives off a sense of melancholy, but at the same time a feeling of relief. Great use of brushing there ^^ But maybe the feathers that are at a nearer distance should have been a little more subtle? It doesn't lead you off the main path, but it could be less of distraction.

it creates this very nostalgic mood- but i do agree it's sad... probably cos you see all those black feathers- a rather ominous sign and the white clouds seem to be dispersing into stormy weather.

but i think it's appropriate- hoshi no koe is rather bittersweet after all

This one caught my eyes when I looked at it. I like the 'fuzziness' of the foreground image actually. It kinda makes the whole thing look old, but the background is sharp, kinda neat. The feathers seem kinda out of place, but something needed to be in there I thought, so they fit nicely. They are also well done. The clouds are really well done. I didn't think they were a stock image, but they are pretty. The max resolution was kinda funny, but only because it's not mine (^ 3^)

I really love how you manage to use art from the film without changing the style for the bg. I mean, does that make sense? Just... consistent. It looks like it could have come straight out of the film. Very, very well made.

Well the down side to this wall is that the scan seems so pasted on the background (and no this is not a mark on the cloud-copying/making issue (wether you've ). The clouds in the background just have a different feeling than the foreground. Clear vs blurry. Realistic vs comicy (<= don't think that's a word... (o_o))

Nonetheless I still like this wallpaper!! First of all the movie is great... and imo there are way to little wallpapers made of the work of Makoto Shinkai! #(c_c)# But the thing I like it that you captured the feeling of the movie in your wall. On first glance it looks like a happy happening, but the use of colour shows that it also has something sad about it... Ah I can't explain it in words, but if you've seen the movie you know what I mean! P(T_T)

Anyway, it's not perfect, but since it's set as my desktop background, you can say you've done pretty wel! ;)

ps. now see it in full screen I think, the feathers should have been left out. They look a bit weird and don't add anything imo

I like this wallpaper because it speaks to me as if its all in the past, that I am looking at an old memory. The anime was great and I think this wallpaper goes with it very well.
