This wall is based off of a style of chinese art that, unlike most traditional western art, leaves areas unpainted, most often water, sky, or mist. It also often features heavy brush stokes in the creation of objects such as trees. The original found background was too dark to be used with the much brighter scan, so it was repainted in order to give it a more vibrant feel, while still maintaining the style of the original piece as much as possible. It was quite time consuming, but overall turned out well. About the only area I'm not entirely happy with is the light filtering through the hanging branches, but it is a small complaint. I hope you like it.

Amazing...this is the best juuni kokki wallie I've seen (by the way I love the series and I'm disappointed that they did not continue the story of the black kirin :( ...but that's another story...) Nice scan of Youko by the way.....not the usual ones in her school uniform or her empress clothes. Where did you get it from? The background really suits the scan. GREAT JOB!!!

This is a certainly an interesting wall. I love seeing juunikokki walls too. ^^
I like your approach to it, but I feel that the bg and scan don't match each other. For starters, the scan looks like its in a lower resolution to your bg, and the bg is a bit too bright colorwise than the scan is.
It would be asking alot, but maybe a vector of the scan would look better, or maybe mute the color of the bg a bit. Or, perhaps layer some sort of texture over the bg.
Overall, I do like it, and its a great start.

Very elegant and pleasant. You did a great job on the repainting of the background. You're absolutely right about the chinese style of painting ^x^ Actually I find that making something simple is quite difficult - you did a wonderous job on this wallie. +fav!

An interesting style, though I found that the brightness varies a fair bit from the traditional Chinese water paintings. Mainly the green in the tree to the left and on the rooftop in comparison to the softer tones in the red and black in the rest of the painting. It's definitely a refreshing outlook though and something I'm surprised someone didn't already try for JK.

Love Juuni Kokki. Thanks for the excellent wallpaper!

Very pretty wall. I love what you did with the background and the painting effect is gorgeous. But it's a bit too gorgeous, perhaps? It takes the attention away from the foreground character, which maybe you could have outlined in a heavier brush, or made the background a bit more dreamy.

This is indeed one of the best Juuni Kokki wallpapers because that background is really sweet!
It has a look and feel of one of those ancient chinese paintings.
Very very excellent job :-)

Very nice, combining both a scetch and computer art in one piece and unlike most other pieces I've seen so far... in yours what you have done doesn't seem odd at all.
Very nicely done
A+ work indeed!

The best Juuni Kokuki wall I've seen to date. The background style you used complements the style of the series very well, although I would tone down the color of the leaves in the northwest corner. It attacts the eye away from the rest of the paper a bit too much. However, overall, very, very, very good job. :)

Awesome job with the wallpaper. It fits the anime very well. The colors look beautiful and I like what you did with Youko's hair it blends with the background very nicely. The only problem I see is the left eye is off center and the base of the sword probably needs to be redone, and other then that briliant! +FAV

Always my favorite picture of Yoko. *____* Thank you for walling it, I love the eastern style you've used, it's so appropriate. I think the all the light filtering through the branches looks fine myself.

A artwork of epic proportions!! The colors of the background brings out all the subtle details on Yoko's dress, including the difficult lighting. Stunning favorite!

The art and style of this wall is amazing! I hardly recognize Yoko, but I still find myself loving this piece =P

This is pretty neat! The bg and the figure in the foreground really don't fit together, though, since the styles of coloring and lineart are so different. It's also a little unbalanced? I know the white spaces were intentional, but I think the composition suffers from their size and placement, and the colors aren't balanced through the piece.
