ano... I thought this wall was awesome when I first saw it, still do. Love everything about it and geesh vectored the entire skyline??? (couldn't even imagine trying that) Murata is expiring cause this scan just begs for a better than average bg be it one with the sky or the ground. You achieved that and it's one of my fave walls from this challenge. So I love what you now really hate, guess that's life ^^ get's a fave from me anyway

So sad we lost and sad I lost too :( lol ok ammm I don't like the blurr :P but you know that already I was gonna use this scan, but I came up with a wall title and decided to make the wall and choose a scan to fit it. This scan almost had it, but I chosen another one.

For being out of your "safety zone" you have added another quality wall to the gallery Kalico. I've seen a few walls in this black and white, pop style lately but your's is the best so far. Oh, and cities, god forbid I will never make a city again. I know how you feel when it comes to them and how hard it is to make it look decent. Thus, I applaud you even more for doing a great job with the city vector. +fav

I really liked the black and white/ retro / pop of this. I've been reading about / studying Twenties posters for an art history course, and this piece reminds me greatly of such posters, mainly movie posters from that time. The look isn't quite twenties, but the classy, no-nonsense look with simplistic elegance really suits this wallpaper. Nice!

I like the vector of the character, but..why is the city so blurry? I think I understand that you were trying to put more emphasis on the character, but that makes the wall look cheap-ish IMO, especially since the font seems to follow its skyline yet is so much sharper. I mean, I look at the manhattan skyline from my window every morning...and its not that blurry. :p Also, Im not too sure about any of the shapes behind the city other than the blimp. =\

lovely clouds/smoke though, I can never vector them and end up with anything that looks like its supposed to.

Ooo, what a wonderful greyscale wall! So much detail, yet not too busy. I really like how crisp and clear the foreground is, so I'm not so fond of the blurred background, but it does add depth so . . . hmm. Well, at any rate, good job!

You may have stepped out of your element and you may not like pop-art, but you do know how to create such a piece well. The wall is very surreal and imaginative. The vector work is, as usual, awsome. The fish bowl swirling effect fits the theme really well and the monochromatic color scheme used here compliments the entire wall. A very fine work. +fav

This was my favorite walls out of the whole army. But why its the shapes blurry? Besides that, you done a great job at vectoring the buildings and the clouds and it flows well. How ironic that this wall is is pop and you hate it! XD This is going on my desktop!

Should I say That this is a typical Kalico wall? Yeah, sure! It seems you have chosen your style, and u are driving it to perfection. Before even seeing "made by Kalico" i knew it was yours. Yeah, u did great on this one. The black&white give a very nostalgic feeling. The quote about the "F" is interesting. My only suggestion would be about the buildings to be less blured. Fantastic work. I'm actually quite fond of this wallpaper. Range Murata goodness X3. I simply love his work and the vector of the girl is smashingly nice and catchy. Perspective seems a little...weird IMO. However it still has a unique feel. I must fave this or die LOL. Excellent job - good to know that someone your calibre still keen to learn more and not afraid to step out of familiar territory. Viewed it earlier, but forgot to comment (I think). I love this wallpaper a lot. It reminds me of Last Exile. Seeing as there is a blimp in the background. The wallpaper makes the character look so carefree and fun! I really don't know what to say. Great concept, great wall. Great job!

Damn, after seeing your entry I'm too ashamed to post mine, Kalico. I'm sure that you have your good reasons to hate this but I really love this wall. I don't think that the city is too blurred, I think that the blur helps to enhance the depth perception (spelling?). I agree with you, the scan is really lovely but the work you did is really lovely too. The buildings, the clouds (incredible!), everything is simply perfect. You said that you hate this wall? I am new to this site and highly impressed by the quality of the images I have found here. Always drawn to simply lines and form this image stands out particularly for me. The artist notes that they are not a fan of the 'Pop' style which I think is a shame since they clearly have an eye for it. I look forward to seeing more from +Kalico in the future.

The clouds around the girl caught my attention immediately. Not only it is a great vector but the concept and the perspective itself looks great. Simply loving black and white walls currently as colour is not always everything when it comes to imaging. Blur background means i get to focus more on the actual image itself. Its not a downside to me, just looking for the alternatives in a wall Great! Favs

Eventhough you hate it it's actually a pretty good wall it has alot of design elements and the quote isn't as lame as you think, thats actually what caught my attention. You ned to appreciate everything that you do because you are good.

Wow, I couldn't make something even remotely close to that, even to save my life. If you hate it, that's cool. BUT, I think it is one of the coolest wallpaper I have ever seen. Exaggerating to make you more uncomfortable? maybe. Just maybe. Considering you will never do this again, I have to say its a dog-gone shame.

I think that this is absolutely gorgeous. I know little to nothing about vectoring but it looks hard and painful as you mentioned. Even though I'm sure it probably was, I would have to say that your painfully hard work seemed to be well worth it since you pulled off a wallpaper that is not only beautiful, but I would say pretty darn original as well. I'm a fan of black and white and although I often tend to stick more to the simple wallpapers, this one just seemed to draw me in, probably because of all the pretty vector work you did, and the fact that the skyline in the back is amazing. You were really detailed with the clouds and I like the text and blur work you did. That blimp in the background is also really cool. Great job and I am going to add it to my favorites.

Haha, the waller who hates his own SSS rated wallpaper, pretty strange in my opinion! It reminds me of Michaelangelo, who curiously enough hated the the Sistene Chapel because he considered himself a sculptor rather than a painter.

Anyway, bad analogy aside, very solid wallpaper here despite your hatred over it. The skyline background is vectored well(at least as well as one could expect one to do so many buildings faithfully). The character vector is also very detailed with crisp, clean lines and shadowing.

The clouds are a bit jagged, but I suppose that must have been done to accomplish the swirling effect. And while this may be a personal preference, I find the text to be a little overbearing (generally, I'm not a fan of text in wallpapers).

Nothing wrong with losing if you tried your best. I personally think it's a pretty nice wall, don't see too many greyscale ones around here. It's very clear, love the scan used, and it does give one the feeling of flying, or walking on clouds rather. I like the sort of...fish-eye effect? I think that's what it's called.

I like this wallpaper when i like look at it for a while but when i stare at it for a long time it starts to freak me out because of in the bg lol his eyes freak me out thats all and this really wallpaper really displays the movie well but if i were you i would also put Rei in there to because she was with stuck with that guy in the movie and i liked how you placed in the corner and seems like everythings finally over for them when i look at it thats where my eyes go cuz i dont wanna look at the freaky dude but i want 2 look at something calming Better is that!

Maybe it's kinda strange to see the girl in the middle of cloud like that.. But when I saw this wall in the main page, I became interested at once. And what I like the most from this wall is the quote: "Maybe fly and fall are the same thing...they both begin with F and end on the ground" I think it's quite inspiring. It makes me think that "fly" or "fall" is just a part of life. So, don't be too sad when you "fall". I don't know if that is really the meaning of the quote, but that's what I think ^_^

Great wallpaper, charm me how to combine colors, and this fund simply impressive. The clouds in combination with the rendering, while the surrounding it is magnificent, excellent detail man ... other details are buildings in the rear, good use of degraded and light, also at the rear of the buildings I can not watch something like mountains are XD, is not really what they are, but ... What I liked most were the sources, have some wonderful effects deep, I almost forgot ... the sun and back more of the details are very good, this is undoubtedly an excellent job man, Greetings ( []-[])9

Black and white colors are very cool. Her one piece with mini skirt is attractive. Her silent face is not only soft but also serious.

The surrealism combined with the colors, in fact the color itself recalls the surrealism. Very nice paper. <3

I guess first, I'll address, in my opinion, the only negative: the text mars an otherwise perfectly designed wallpaper. I see it over and over again, a great wallpaper that, by all means, with just its visual merit, is able to stand on its own and carry whatever meaning the author had intended, but is marred by the presence of text. Being a visual medium, a wallpaper shouldn't need text, and very rarely do text complement rather than detract from the overall quality of a piece.

That aside, the simple grayscale cityscape with the grayscale girl works side by side quite nicely and gives a very 1950s era feel. The blimp is a nice touch =)
