So, started working on this one a while back...thanks to everyone in session zero that gave comments. Got caught up in school and figured I would put this up over Christmas break.
The photo is one that I took. Sanzo, Jianyi, and Hakkai courtesy of the scanners on this sight.
I have a lot to learn about composites and lighting, so please be kind but be honest too. If you don't like it let me know how to do it better.

I like your composition of the scans, especially how you placed Hakkai's picture as a portrait. The portrait looks really real! However, i think that the lighting on the characters isn't strong enough. Ni Jenyi kinda looks out of place. But Sanzo is alright. ^_^ Good effort anyhow.

Thanks for the comment :-)
The lighting gave me tons of trouble...think it might have been a bit much for me.
I'm definitely happy with the painting, but Jianyi and Sanzo...
I ended up with about 20 layers of highlights and shadows, and after about 6 hours I think I hit the limit of what I can currently do...
Time to learn some more tricks and try again :-)

Haven't read your progress in SZ, but I the result is pretty nice! The whole setting is original and decently worked out. Greytones and lightfall are done perfectly, the only minor things I want to comment is the integration of the characters in the picture, which is ofcourse a very hard job, but you can see a little difference in sharpness between the characters and the objects they're next to/behind. In a real photo you'll never see this. Another negative point imo is the text; the choice for a 'flat' text doesn't really match the 3D image, the font is a bit too 'busy' so it drags away attention from the wall. You might have chosen for a smaller, simple, shadowed text.
Anyway, you did a good job, keep up the good work and have fun.

Sanzo sharing with Dr. Ni plus a painting of Hakkai - I'd love to live in this house LOL! ^^
I really liked your concept for this one, I thought the poses work quite well, who would have guessed these scans could work together this way. I also thought the integration between the characters and the environment was quite good, making the scene believable. Nice lighting too.
However, I don't quite like how Sanzo and Ni both face the same way, perhaps if Sanzo was facing the other way then it sorta 'trap' the audience's attention to the center of the wall more. Also not a fan of huge text, perhaps could be subtly integrated in the scene, maybe as a note stuck on the fridge or something.
Good job!

Personally, I don't think that anime pictures ever go nicely on a real BG unless the BG was edited to look more like it's drawn. Hakkai looks really awesome as a portrait, but the other two don't seem to belong in that BG. The lighting is pretty good, I just think the texture of the two doesn't match the background. This is interesting though, so keep at it!

The background looks nicely, though, some part of it is needlessly dark. The brighter parts are a bit better, though, the lights are good, anyway. The characters are good, too, they fit to the background well. The title is interesting, nice wallpaper.

Great wall!!! I love it alot! great lighting. And a very good perspective. Oddness is he between this unlikely 'comrade' but I like that. The rrelaxed air is nice and the light can be define dim if it was coloured. Too much talking won't change the fact that this wallie rocks!!!
