The effects fit wonderfully with the scan (I've always loved KnMYnB's backgrounds!). What I don't like much is the text of the words. I agree that you do need something to fill the empty space there, and I think the words themselves are okay, it's just that the whole wall has a "done by hand the old-fashioned way" look about it, and then the text is too obviously computer-generated. Something more like hand-written cursive (something not so perfect and a bit less opaque) would be better, I think.

I was gonna +fav you anyway because there aren't many walls for this movie and it is simply my favorite anime piece there is, but in looking at the wall, it does indeed deserve the +fav. Every aspect of it is well done. The colors are great and the text fits. The fading out on the edges is perfect. And it just gives you that overall peaceful feel of summer, just like the movie portrays. And so, +fav'd...ya deserve it.

Nice use of contemporary colors, the painting style really fits in nicely with this wallpaper. I can't seem to figure out what you were trying to do with the border around the wall, is it supposed to be a faded painting or a book page. Did you really draw the train from hand or did you just clean it up a bit, because if you hand drew it, I'd just like to give you props, I can see how much of a pain that would be.

A very good Wp. The coloring is very well done and very relaxing. I dont know why I thought it is for FMA not for Kumo No Mukou. I only think that the writing should be left without effects, but still the WP is done in a very good way. keep up the good job

But I have to give some comment on it... the last compartment of the train looks a bit gradient and why did you leave a transparent part of the picture in the empty white area's?!!? Wasn't it suppose to look like a torn picture?

Don't you think that the train is a bit out of proportion? I mean, the roof is too high compared to the wheels plus the wheels aren't wagon-wheels but the ones of a locomotive xD

The different styles from you and Shinkai have a hard time fitting together, I would say, if you compare the tracks on the left and the tracks the train is on.

neat. what's neat? everything about it. >3 the text placement is perfect...don't remember myself saying that very often, but i consciously thought about it this time around. the train is very well drawn and fits in without a gap. the paper texture looks very cool too. a marvelous job with this wall. and it is nice to see something nostalgic of summer, and yet seems quite cool as well, strange for me to see this on christmas eve! ah yes, some little thing to complain about: the vanishing point of the train's lines isn't the point where the tracks disappear. that makes the train look like its heading into a point in the ground...a bit like that.

Nice work on the fonts, that is so so so match with the background unfortunately, we cannot see the head of the train, i think it would be better if the train is climbing up the hill anyway, nice work, you did a good job +fav.

I really enjoy the bright pastel color scheme of this wallpaper and the worn paper effect looks particularly well done! I also dig the watercolor look of the brush strokes on this wallpaper. nyaa, very summer-like, like a painting made with water colors - a memory of a fine trip in mids of summer. The only thing i would change is the title "into the wide open" you made as if it was consisting of multiple, same in color and size but move a bit, writings. I'd make one, deffinite with strong white and all the others pale, as if dissolving in the blue sky. dunno if my description is readable...

I can tell you put allot of effort into the picture. I havn't seen the scan, but i think the framing of the train is perfect. The clouds might be a little low though. I also like the effect of the picture actually being on paper with the torn sides and the crinkled look.

As everyone has said, the watercolor feel and paperish texture work wonderfully here. They do exactly what they ought to do in terms of feel, without ever overstating themselves. The trick is always transparency, so that you pull the viewer into a certain mood without them ever pinning down exactly what it is that got them to that mood. "I can't put my finger on it, but there's just something about this picture" they'll often say. That's when you know that you've succeeded in sharing a moment, a feeling, an idea, another place, a different world. Nothing distracted the viewer as they looked at the image. The composition, the colors, the contours, the working together of all the components effectively convinced them, captivated them, compelled them.

I get that light summer day impression, and that sort of gentle joy that attends such a day, as I enter into this picture. I enjoy the fact that most of the picture hangs within a fairly limited range of colors, fading in and out between various shades of blue and green. Excellent job on the train, its angle, its design, and on merging it with the rest of the picture both by its style and by its color.

I have but two very small gripes to make. 1) The vertical line which marks the far end of the train stands out in my eyes, as being both a little too perfectly vertical, and a little too crisp compared to the rest of the lines. It draws undue attention to itself. I think you could blend it with a simple and subtle blur, though I'd rather that it just be a slightly imperfect, or slanted vertical line. Either option would do the trick though. 2) As others have said, I too would love a textless version. Though I know that the text here had personal relevance for you, I think that the quality and tone of the image communicates more than enough on its own.

In sum, 2 to 3 weeks well spent. This wall is simple yet serene. Kudos.

Love the two color combinations! Blue and green. And the paint effect just gives it that feeling that the train is going to disappear in the horizon at the same pace as we would expect the watercolors to blend together... It would be also nice if the sentence "into the great wide open" looks like it is fading away in smokes (at either end of the sentence), because of the draft of wind caused by the train.

Woah... It's so peaceful but it seems as if you can feel the rush of the train too. Although the wall is in paint/paper form, it's like a moving scene almost and you could almost taste the sweet and fresh air.... the colors are pale but vibrant, not too vibrant though but still energitic! Makes you feel at peace just looking at it... +fav :)

This wall is so relaxing and calm, I love it. Trains are fun if you're all about taking in the sights and all that. I guess when you feel passion for something it really comes out in your work cause I can definitely see you enjoyed that trip. Great work.

WONDERFUL. This is so pretty I thought it was a painting at first. Its such a breath of fresh air to see artwork like this pop up here. I love it, it really makes me feel nostalgic of when I was younger and and free roaming around places like this. I like the right side and how it looks faded. This is so pretty gooood work.

Very unique wallpaper. It's very rare for me to see a water-paint type of wallpaper lately, and to add on to that, this wallpaper is simply amazing. I also agree with you on the summer feel - very nostalgic. Gives a sense of warmth and peace that summer SHOULD give, but my summer ends up in sunburns and sweat. Anyways, this wallpaper is totally a favorite for me.

i'm not completely sure what i think about the white-ish borders around the bottom of the wall, but otherwise i think it is really well made. the effects are great and i think the feel of the wall conveys that summer feeling you were explaining. i do, though, kind of hope you'll do one that shows a greater expanse, maybe with the train in the distance. as much as i like this wallpaper, with the train coming in on the right it makes me feel a little as though the train is blocking the view of open area to the right of the wall that i would have had, had the train not been there. =p

The effects fit wonderfully with the scan (I've always loved KnMYnB's backgrounds!). What I don't like much is the text of the words. I agree that you do need something to fill the empty space there, and I think the words themselves are okay, it's just that the whole wall has a "done by hand the old-fashioned way" look about it, and then the text is too obviously computer-generated. Something more like hand-written cursive (something not so perfect and a bit less opaque) would be better, I think.
